A. Preparation
1. Motivation
Today, we will start our lesson with a short
video clip.

B. Generalization
Agreement- is the correct relationship
between a subject and its verb.
RULES
1. Nouns with either-or, neither nor
a. When subjects are joined by either-
or, or neither-nor, the verb agrees
with the subject closer to it.
Example:
Either the girls or Stanley is
going to the seminar in
Hongkong.
Neither tomato nor basil leaves
are to be put into the dish.
2. Collective Nouns
a. When a collective noun is regarded
as a single unit, the singular form of
the verb is used.
Example:
Our basketball team wins every
game.
b. When a collective noun is regarded
as individual units, the plural form
of the verb is used.
Example:
The committee are arguing about
who is best to lead them next year.
3. Each/Every
a. When a subject is preceded by each
or every; the singular form of the
verb is used.
Example:
Every man, woman, and child is
given food.
Each soldier and civilian serves
the country.
Example:
The number of attendees is more
now than last year’s
Example:
A number of guests arrive from
the city every month.
Example:
His 500 pesos was stolen.

Another example:
Ten kilos of meat was cooked.
Three gallons of ice cream is
enough for the party.
Example:
