There are two writing tasks in the writing section. You must complete BOTH tasks.
 
WRITING TASK 1
 
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
 
The table below presents the number of commissioned  officers in the British Regular Forces.
 
Using the information in the table, describe and compare the strength  of different services and the
changes over the years. You should write approximately 150 words.
 
Write your answers on your answer sheet.

WRITING TASK 2

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task. Argue either in support of or against the following
statement:

Wearing military uniform is very important. First, by wearing uniform, soldiers can feel that they
are part of one organisation. Other reasons are to show rank and provide camouflage, as well as to
identify friend from foe.

You are required to write approximately 250 words. You should use your own ideas, knowledge and
experience and support your arguments with examples and relevant evidence.

Write a letter to a colleague. Tell him/her about your new job position. Explain in detail a particular work problem
you are having. Suggest how to solve it. Give arguments.
Use about 250 words.
