EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The report has been prepared with the objective of analyzing two brands of potable computers and to
recommend a suitable alternative for training staff for usage at client sites.
The computers considered are suitable for corporate use. Other modern facilities such as e-mail may
also be accommodated.
The brands that have been considered are:
1) Hewlett Packard Omnibox 3000CTX model 5/2333
2) Micro Pro 5000 series.
The major disadvantage of the first lies in its cost. The cost being high gives rise to higher consumer
expectations in terms of features of the model. The Micro Pro on the other hand is high on usability and
portability.
It is thus recommended that the Micro Pro series 8500 is best suited for the purpose in afitoin to
provoding value for money, durability and standard features.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the report is to analyze various brands of portable computers and recommend one for
the training staff for usage at client sites.
SCOPE
The scope of the project is wide as it considers various parameters such as features, benefits and
warranties.
METHODOLOGY
The data was collected in consultation with the Australian PC authority Magazine as well as by
contacting the company concerned to avail additional data on the features offered etc.
LIMITATIONS
The limitations of the project were as follows:
1) The brands studied ere not stocked by local computer showrooms.
2) Difficulty in locating the additional information.
3) Details of software packages that shall be supplied along with the computer have not been
specified.
ASSUMPTIONS
The following assumptions have been made while preparing the report.
1) Microsoft Office Software is installed in the system.
2) Implementation of portable computers shall cause little delay in the functioning of the company.
3) All purpose Training Company shall be offered the margin to purchase extended warranty for a
period of one year.
