9.3 Calculation of Support Reactions (SEJ CASE): (Refer: UIC 774-3R, Clause: 3.3.3)
when bridge satisfies cl. no. 3.3.1 of UIC: 774-3R, support reactions can be calculated as per cl. 3.3.3 UIC: 774-3R, as per
below calculations.
Note: In case of Multiple Spans if SEJ is provided at Embankments and over Each Piers, Substructure is designed for Maximum
braking or traction forces as per the Bridge Rules.
1) Assumed bridge is satisfying the clause 3.3.2 of UIC-774 3R, Hence calculations are done as per clause 3.3.3 of UIC-
774 3R.
2) The below assumptions were made for calculation the Support Reactions in Elastomeric bearings
a) For Calculation of support reactions for Abutments and pier LWR forces will be distributed by 50% on both the
Abutments / Piers.
b) The Forces due to temperature variation and Vertical bending is assumed to be Zero at Pier Locations.
c) For calculation of Structural Stiffness (K),Elastomeric Bearing Stiffness is also considered along with the Substructure
stiffness.
