Marine QSB6.7 CM2250 - Engine Coolant Level Sensor Circuit
Circuit Description:
The electronic control module (ECM) provides a 5 volt supply to the engine coolant level sensor using a common
sensor supply circuit. The ECM also provides a ground on the sensor return circuit. The engine coolant level sensor
provides a signal to the ECM on the engine coolant level sensor signal circuit. This sensor signal voltage changes
based on the coolant level in the expansion tank.
Component Location:
The coolant level sensor is usually located in the heat exchanger top tank.
Conditions for Running the Diagnostics:
• This diagnostic runs continuously when the keyswitch is ON.
Conditions for Setting the Fault Codes:
The ECM detects intermittent or incorrect data from the coolant level sensor or circuit.
Action Taken When the Fault Code is Active:
• For engines equipped with SmartCraft™, SmartCraft™ will display a CHECK ENGINE warning on the system
tachometer and Vessel View™, if equipped, immediately, when the diagnostic runs and fails.
• Coolant level fault indication is lost.

Conditions for Clearing the Fault Code:
• To validate the repair, start the engine and let it idle for 1 minute.
• The fault code status displayed by INSITE™ electronic service tool will change to INACTIVE immediately after the
the diagnostic runs and passes.
• For engines equipped with SmartCraft™, SmartCraft™ will clear the CHECK ENGINE warning immediately after the
diagnostic runs and passes.
• The 'Reset All Faults' command in INSITE™ electronic service tool can be used to clear active and inactive faults.
