Assignment 1 - Example Powerpoint 2

This document discusses whether animal testing should be banned. It begins by defining animal testing as examining drugs or substances on living animals to test safety or develop products. It then provides two main reasons why animal testing should be banned: it is wasteful as it is more expensive than alternatives and has not improved drug approval rates, and it is unethical as animals feel pain and fear but cannot protest experimentation. It also includes rebuttals that animal testing has improved medicine and that restricting it could slow medical progress, but responds that alternatives now exist and more funding should support developing alternatives over using animals.

Introduction
What Is Animal Testing?
Examining a drug or medicine
on living animals to develop
projects or determining safety of
substances including food,
drugs or even make up.
Taking the fate of animals upon our hands and subjecting
them to agonizing, unimaginable pain, and slow deaths is
just not worth it.

In this day and age, the animal testing is completely needless

when there are more reliable alternatives.

Animal testing should be outlawed because they are:

1- wasteful
2- unethical
Wasteful
✘More expensive than alternative
methods.
✘Waste of time, resources, and the
government’s money.
The US drug industry has invested
over $ 50 billion per year in researches, yet the
approval rate has not changed for almost 50
years ago, 6% only.
Unethical
✘Feeling lonely and painful.

✘Easy for human, because

animals can’t protest.

-Animals feel pain and fear

just as we do.

* “100 million animals are

killed for research each year
in the United States alone.”
* Animal testing might be
“legal” but if it’s legal that
doesn’t mean that it is right to
do, such as slavery in the past.

Rebuttle
✘Animals such as mice and rats have psychological and
genetic similarities with humans which make them optimal
to use in various experiments, and restricting the use of
animal testing would only limit the progress of medical
development.

It is expensive to use animals in testing because it must be

purchased and then fed, housed and cared for. So, more
funding should be put to develop alternatives than using
animals for experiments.
Rebuttle
✘Animal testing has a huge role in medical researches which
improved the human’s life , therefore, instead of banning the
use of animals for medical purposes, we should think about
all the vaccines and antibiotics that have come from it.

There is no need to cause pain and suffering to animals when

sophisticated computer systems, mathematical models,
human tissue and cell cultures and more alternatives can also
show us what happens to our bodies during disease.
THANKS!
