What Is TBT

Tool Box Talks (TBT) are daily safety meetings conducted by supervisors before work begins to discuss the day's tasks, assigned roles, required tools and safety equipment, potential risks and hazards, and contingency plans. The TBT must be held at the worksite and cover the job hazard analysis, emergency procedures, required personal protective equipment, housekeeping standards, and common hazards like slips, trips, lifting injuries and sharp objects. Workers are asked questions to check understanding and sign off to confirm their commitment to the safety discussion.
