Penn State Harrisburg’s School of Behavioral Sciences and Education seeks applicants for a non-tenure line teaching position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor in Nursing. This position is a full-time, 36-week appointment term appointment starting Fall 2025.

Position Summary: The Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing is a 36-week appointment Full-Time Non-Tenure-Line faculty position within the School of Behavioral Sciences and Education beginning August 2025. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual who shares our commitment to teaching, research, and service. The successful candidate will contribute to our efforts to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for students, foster robust, collaborative research, and engage in service activities supporting institutional goals.
Responsibilities: The primary responsibilities of the Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing include:
Teaching: Candidates’ primary responsibility will include coordination and instruction in obstetrics, including clinical and classroom, and clinical teaching in fundamentals of nursing and/or adult medical-surgical nursing courses.
Research/Scholarship/Creative Accomplishments: The candidate is expected to engage in scholarly activities in their respective area of expertise.
Service: The candidate is expected to provide service across the College and University that promotes a commitment to the professional and regional community of the campus, including DEIB goals, such as committee work, community engagement, mentorship, and other contributions to the campus and the broader academic community.
Qualifications: To be considered for the Instructor or Assistant Teaching Professor of Nursing, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
Education: An earned master’s degree in nursing. Individuals with a master’s degree will be considered at the rank of instructor, and individuals with a doctoral degree (e.g., DNP, PhD) will be considered at the rank of assistant teaching professor. An earned doctorate degree will be a condition of continued employment after the fifth year for a candidate hired as an instructor.
Expertise: Candidates with a strong record of teaching in obstetrics nursing.

Experience: The preferred candidate will demonstrate expertise in obstetrics and fundamentals of nursing or medical-surgical clinical practice experience.

Candidates must have at least one graduate degree in nursing. Description
The Associate Dean for Research and Innovation is responsible for providing strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Center for Nursing Research. This position’s overarching goal is to facilitate the success of research and the research faculty and provide a vision and strategic direction for the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing’s research enterprise.

Responsibilities:
- Mentoring Faculty: Mentor junior faculty members, providing guidance on research career development and strategies for building funded research programs to ensure successful grant applications and accepted publications.
- Leadership and Oversight: Provide leadership and oversight for the research mission within their college or division. This includes evaluating research center opportunities within the university as well as with outside stakeholders and managing research budgets and programs.
- Collaboration and Infrastructure: Collaborate with other colleges to create interdisciplinary research initiatives. Build infrastructure to support research across the college. Support research initiatives across the college and university.
- Workshops and Support: Organizing workshops and initiatives to support faculty research. Evaluate grant cost-sharing opportunities and present findings to the dean.
- Liaison and Partnerships: Serve as a liaison to other university research offices, fostering collaborative, interdisciplinary research both within their college and with other schools and colleges.
- Supervision and Financial Planning: Supervise staff handling research administration, compliance, and financial matters. Work with the finance and administration team to create research financial projections. Supervise research faculty within the college.
- Promotion and Tenure: Oversee the promotional and tenure process within the college for provisional and promotional reviews.
Qualifications:
Successful applicants must have a research doctorate in nursing or a closely related field and a documented commitment to teaching and service. To be successful in your pursuit of this opportunity, you should have experience teaching master’s and doctoral level courses in resident and online platforms with experience in academic administration. Further, you should have significant scholarly accomplishments, grant funding, and a record of national and international service.
You should have an active research portfolio with the potential for attracting extramural research and program funding.
You should also be able to demonstrate your achievements in teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with a tenure-eligible appointment. You must also hold a valid United States nursing license and be eligible for a Pennsylvania license. You are an ideal addition to our faculty and the administration at large if you can demonstrate previous leadership capacity on behalf of a faculty group and in working with all levels of complex organizations and University administration. The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing seeks applications for a full-time non-tenure line faculty member in the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctoral Program within the Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at the University Park campus. Travel to other campuses may be necessary. This will be a full-time thirty-six-week appointment with full benefits. The successful candidate will be expected to teach fall and spring semesters with an anticipated start date as early as August 2024. This is a limited-term position funded for one year, with excellent chances of renewal.
Primary responsibilities include teaching courses in-person and online, clinical supervision, serving on student doctoral committees, advising students, and other service and scholarly activities. The position will be filled at the Assistant Teaching Professor or higher rank based upon the credentials of the successful candidate. This position requires national certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, a PA State license as an Acute Care CRNP (or be eligible for PA licensure), and a minimum of one year of experience as a CRNP. Candidates must be prepared at the doctorate level. Teaching experience is preferred. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
- Candidates for the position will possess at a minimum a master’s degree in Nursing and eligibility for RN licensure in Pennsylvania.
- Individuals with a master’s degree will be considered at the rank of instructor, and individuals with a doctoral degree (e.g. DNP, PhD) will be considered at the rank of assistant teaching professor.
- An earned Doctorate degree will be a condition of continued employment after the fifth year for a candidate hired as an instructor.
- A Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) certification is highly preferred.

Penn State Mont Alto is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses state-wide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 1000 students; about 25% are adult learners. The Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing at the Penn State Mont Alto Campus has openings for part-time instructors in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for the 2023-2024 academic year, which begins Fall of 2023.
Responsibilities will be clinical instruction of students in all levels of the program at various clinical site locations. Areas of practice include medical-surgical, critical care, community health, pediatrics, maternal-child, mental health, and geriatric nursing.
A Bachelor of Science in Nursing with a related Graduate degree and recent clinical experience is required.
