HDPulse

An Ecosystem of Minority Health and Health Disparities Resources

Explore HDPulse

Who can benefit from using HDPulse?

  • Researchers in academic institutions, research organizations, or federal organizations
  • Public health practitioners (program implementers)
  • Healthcare providers (clinicians, nurses, behavioral health providers)
  • Community health workers and advocates (health departments, program implementers)
  • Policymakers at the county, state, or federal level
  • Educators and trainees interested in public health, minority health and health disparities. Trainees could include predocs and postdocs
  • Public, private and non-profit organizations (research funding)

Recognizing the need for high-quality, publicly available online resources for improving minority health and reducing health disparities, NIMHD developed HDPulse.

HDPulse consists of two easy-to-use portals:

  • Data Portal - Facilitates identifying, tracking, and studying issues related to minority health and health disparities
  • Interventions Portal - Offers a repository of searchable evidence-based interventions that have been shown to improve minority health and reduce health disparities

About the HDPulse Data Portal

Access the Data Portal

The Data Portal provides a tool to characterize health disparities to motivate action to reduce health disparities. Interactive graphics and maps provide visual support for deciding where to focus public health disparities control efforts.

The Data Portal offers quick, easy access to descriptive statistics, interactive graphics, and maps that present health disparities across the nation, states and counties. With easy navigation and a mobile-friendly interface that offers several ways to view and download health disparity data, the portal will provide opportunities to explore health disparity topics such as screening and risk factors, socio-demographics, and mortality—with more to come!

Novel Data Portal Features

  • Data topic organization using a socioecological framework
  • Data stratification by multiple, intersecting demographic domains
  • Statistical measures of disparities, rate-ratios

The Data Portal provides the evidence needed to take action to reduce health disparities. Visit the Data Portal.

About the HDPulse Interventions Portal

Access the Interventions Portal

The Interventions Portal provides access to information about evidence-based interventions that aim to improve minority health or reduce health disparities, along with related publications, products and materials.

The Interventions Portal supports researchers and program planners with the design, implementation, evaluation, dissemination, and adaptation of interventions.

When looking for interventions, portal visitors can filter searches based on the following criteria:

  • Population served
  • Related diseases, disorders, and conditions
  • Geographical location (U.S. state or territory)
  • Implementation setting

Novel Interventions Portal Features

  • Search and multi-filter functionality
  • An interventions comparison tool
  • Supporting materials for each intervention (e.g., publications, contact information)
  • Ability to review individual sections of research studies

Interventions Portal Submissions

NIMHD invites research scientists across disciplines to submit their evidence-based minority health and/or health disparities interventions to the Portal. Qualifying intervention submissions must include:

  • A scientifically established study design
  • Proof of real-world, positive impact for the study population
  • Publication in a peer-reviewed journal

Contact us to send your submissions to NIMHD.
