This Ramadan, we are reminded of the incredible power of our CommUNITY.
Watch our latest brand film, titled ‘Anak’ – Inspired by the true story of Fazillah, one of our dedicated McDonald’s volunteers, we celebrate the impact that community giving brings and share our gratitude to those who gives back.
Reason for the Season: Ramadan
In the spirit of inclusivity and forging cross-cultural ties, we had the honour of bringing together families from different communities to join our Muslim-Malay friends in breaking fast side by side at McDonald’s West Coast Park on 31 March 2023.
It was wonderful having Member of Parliament Ms Nadia Samdin grace our event, as we learnt more about the significance of Ramadan. We wish all our Muslim friends a blessed and meaningful Ramadan 2023!
Reason for the Season: Lunar New Year
In 2023, we’re ‘upsizing’ our community initiatives to focus on more than just celebration. We hope to share the meaning and purpose behind traditions, create bonds between different ethnic groups, and spread a message of inclusivity.
This Lunar New Year, we worked together with the Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS), Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) and Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC), bringing together families across races and cultures with the story behind the Chinese Zodiac. In true McDonald’s spirit, our reunion-styled ‘Lou Hei’ dinner (yes, that’s a toss of Chicken McNuggets, curly fries and salad) ended with our signature Prosperity Meals for all.
Bringing children together this World Cup
Partnering with organisations like the Singapore Muslim Women’s Association (PPIS), Singapore Indian Development Association (SINDA) and New Hope Community Services Singapore (NHCS.SG), we brought smiles to the children under their care with professional football clinics conducted by F17 Academy.
McDonald’s has always been committed to creating memorable experiences for children and families alike, and we are proud of the collaborative effort put forth to make this World Cup one to remember for everyone involved.
It takes a Big Mac to say a Big Thanks
This National Day month, we gave our Big Thanks to our Healthcare Heroes from Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), Singapore General Hospital and Changi General Hospital (CGH), in the form of 4,000 McDonald’s Laksa Delight Burgers. It’s our little way of saying a big thank you to those who put themselves in the frontline to take care of us.
The lovely nurses from Tan Tock Seng Hospital also had the honour of being the first in Singapore to enjoy the Laksa Delight Burgers at a special preview lunch!
Extending a Ramadan Helping Hand
In April 2022, McDonald’s extended a helping hand towards Muslim families in need during the month of Ramadan by providing hot meals in time for them to break fast. There is a story behind each family, of untold hardships and perseverance, and we wanted to do our part to ease their struggles.
In addition, we also donated more than 500 meals to other beneficiaries of Persatuan Persuratan Pemuda Pemudi Melayu (4PM), part of the Malay Youth Literacy Association, a social service non-profit organisation that aims to support youth in Singapore.
Sharing Prosperity Moments with Everyday Heroes
In January 2022, McDonald’s paid tribute to our frontline transport workers for their commitment in keeping our transport system running, particularly on the eve of Lunar New Year and forgoing their own family reunion dinners.
To show our appreciation, we delivered 6,500 Prosperity Meal vouchers to frontline bus employees from SBS Transit, including Bus Captains and unsung heroes like Transit Security Officers and Cleaners, across 17 bus interchanges.
Thank you for your tireless dedication!
Happy Deepavali to our Migrant Heroes
Celebrating a festive season like Deepavali away from family and loved ones amidst safety restrictions can be challenging. In November 2021, we shared our appreciation to migrant workers in Singapore and helped light up their smiles during Deepavali. Over 4,000 Chicken McCrispy meals were gifted to the residents and staff of two dormitories — The Leo and Westlite Juniper.
Thank you to our migrant workers for your resilience and valued contribution!
It takes a Big Mac to say a Big Thanks
In August 2020, McDonald’s® paid a special tribute to healthcare and frontline heroes through the ‘Big Thanks’ initiative.
As part of the initiative, we donated close to 30,000 ‘Big Thanks’ burgers to our heroes from various organisations including the National Centre for Infectious Diseases (NCID), Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), SCDF Emergency Medical Services (EMS), National University Hospital (NUH), Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Orange Valley Nursing Home, to name a few.
It was a small gesture of appreciation on our part to our frontline heroes for their courage, selflessness and dedication in helping the nation battle COVID-19.
