He has received the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award and the PEN Center USA Award for Fiction, has been a Pulitzer Prize finalist, and is Distinguished Professor of English at the University of Southern California. Whoahhhh
One cannot review it without spoilers. So I'll just say that the writing is exquisite, I loved the characters and the kinda Old West "Gunsmoke" genre/setting. But there's something going on here that takes a very long time to process. Make sure you don't read the ending just before bed.
