About this audiobook
2017: When Angela Creighton discovers a mysterious letter containing a life-shattering confession, she is determined to find the intended recipient. Her search takes her back to the 1970s when a group of daring women operated an illegal underground abortion network in Toronto known only by its whispered code name: Jane.
1971: As a teenager, Dr. Evelyn Taylor was sent to a home for “fallen” women where she was forced to give up her baby for adoption—a trauma she has never recovered from. Despite the constant threat of arrest, she joins the Jane Network as an abortion provider, determined to give other women the choice she never had.
1980: After discovering a shocking secret about her family, twenty-year-old Nancy Mitchell begins to question everything she has ever known. When she unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she feels like she has no one to turn to for help. Grappling with her decision, she locates “Jane” and finds a place of her own alongside Dr. Taylor within the network’s ranks, but she can never escape the lies that haunt her.
Looking for Jane is “a searing, important, beautifully written novel about the choices we all make and where they lead us—as well as a wise and timely reminder of the difficult road women had to walk not so long ago” (Kristin Harmel, New York Times bestselling author).

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Nov 9, 2023 What an incredible book telling an incredible story every human needs to read. Although it seems heavily focused around the topic of abortion, it is really about women empowering other women to fight for their rights to do what they want. It’s a story no one wants to talk about but is historically accurate and seemingly could be our future again. Thank you for writing this book, Heather Marshall. - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Oct 15, 2025 Hearbreaking, hopeful and tenderly humane! I could not stop listening to it and deeply empathized with women systematic historical discrimimation and abuse
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5Jul 24, 2025 When I first realized this was a book about abortion, I almost stopped reading it. However, as a staunch ProLife Supporter, I thought it would be necessary to read from a different point of view for further understanding. All the reasons for my ProLife stance displayed in this fictional story will keep my views. I believe the Lord Jesus is the only one who grants and takes away life, not man. Mankind will have a devastating price to pay for all the children destroyed in the name of inconvenience. Lord have mercy.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5May 30, 2024 Such a poignant and challenging book to read on an emotional and intellectual level. I am not a proponent of abortion yet this authors story opened a level of empathy in me that I have never known existed. I cannot imagine what the women in the post war went through in Canada and in the United States. The book is really well written and the narration is excellent. I’m grateful I had the opportunity to read it.
