The Moon's phases From Above
This video clearly illustrates the system that creates the phases of the Moon, as seen from Earth. Looking down upon the orbit of the Moon, we see how light from the Sun hits different sides of the Moon, changing the apparent shape of the satellite when see by an observer on Earth.
