Members & supporters
Strong partnerships among the health profession and broader community are essential to growing Choosing Wisely and achieving culture change in Australia. Our members and supporters network comprises health professional colleges, societies and associations, champion health services and consumer information and advocacy organisations. Our members and supporters undertake a range of activities to advance the implementation of Choosing Wisely in their setting as part of their agreement to Choosing Wisely operating principles.
The latest evidence-based recommendations on tests, treatments and procedures to question from Australia’s peak health organisations are published by the initiative. These recommendations aim to guide healthcare providers and consumers in discussions about appropriate and necessary healthcare management.
An increasing number of Australian health services are implementing Choosing Wisely projects in our hospitals with teams of health professionals and consumers working tougher across departments and entire organisations on local projects addressing unnecessary or low-value healthcare. Champion Health Services
For Choosing Wisely to have an impact on healthcare service delivery, it is vital that health services are championing the initiative at a local level. From Primary Health Networks and Local Health Districts, to hospitals and primary care practices, Choosing Wisely Australia encourages health services to engage in reducing unnecessary tests, treatments or procedures that are prevalent in their particular settings.
