—In this paper, a smart wireless wristband is proposed. The potential of innovative gesture based interactivity with connected lighting solutions is reviewed. The solution is intended to offer numerous benefits, in terms of ease of use, and enhanced dynamic interactive functionality. A comparative analysis will be carried out between this work and existing solutions. The evolution of lighting and gesture controls will be discussed and an overview of alternative applications will be provided, as part of the critical analysis.

Stoles inspired from kalamkari motifs were prepared through digital printing technique on the basis of consumer preferences on silk fabric. Developed stole designs were evaluated by 90 respondents on the basis of design, colour combination, combination of motifs, printing quality, appearance of design and price acceptability. It was found that design 6(B) followed by design 10(A) obtained first and second ranks on the basis of uniqueness of the design, colour combination, printing quality and suitability of combination of motifs whereas stole design 6(B) and design 11(B) obtained first and second rank on the basis of appearance of the design. Majority of the respondents rated the prepared stoles as very good. The largest percentage of the respondents consider the quoted price of stoles as adequate. The price of the stoles ranged between Rs. 1450/-and Rs. 1650/- .

Wearable technologies involve the integration of technology into clothing or accessories 15 to bring new functionalities for people on the move. We examine 20 environmental sustainability issues through a review of recent research and cases across three broad 21 areas including the fashion industry, information and communications technology (ICT), and 22 wearable technologies. In the analysis, we examine stages in the product lifecycle and identify the 23 unique issues for each sector including the extraction of materials, production process, distribution 24 of products, use, and disposal of products that have reached the end of their life. The findings are 25 gathered as implications for design so that researchers, educators, designers, developers, and 26 product managers will gain an overview of the issues related to environmental sustainability. 27 Related examples of products and prototypes are provided to enable informed choices during the 28 design and development of wearables that are more environmentally sustainable. 29

This paper analyses some of the challenges this reality puts to the fashion design and how textile materials may be used to protect the human body against the harmful radiation and to develop smart cloths incorporating textile antennas able to capture these radiations and feed low-frequency devices.

High-visibility safety apparel (HVSA) is personal protective clothing that provides visual conspicuity to reduce police officers' risk of fatality or injury from road traffic accidents. Under the current U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Highway Administration regulations, police officers on or near Federal-Aid highways are mandated to wear HVSA to enhance their visibility. Although wearing HVSA can significantly prevent traffic-related fatalities among police officers, studies have shown that they do not consistently, or ever, wear it. This study identifies factors influencing HVSA noncompliance among officers by exploring their perceptions of its use and efficiency. Ninety-eight police officers completed a field survey in four cities in Yavapai County, Arizona; their responses were analyzed via predictive decision tree modeling. The results indicated that officers' HVSA-wearing behavior can be predicted by safety ethics, professional appearance, occupation risk, functionality of HVSA, and safety education. Among these predictors, safety ethics and professional appearance were the most important factors in forecasting officers' HVSA-wearing behavior. Our study contributes to enhancing knowledge about the psychological aspects of officers' HVSA-wearing behavior and provides implications for improving their traffic safety policies and compliance in the law enforcement community.

Motor vehicle crashes involving pedestrians result in 1.8 deaths per 100,000 population annually in the U.S. Most of these fatalities are attributed to pedestrians not being seen in time for the driver to avoid a collision, particularly under poor visibility conditions. Previous research shows that reflective clothing worn at night can substantially increase pedestrians' visual conspicuity to drivers. The purpose of the present research was to examine people's desire for reflective trim on their clothing. Findings of strong desirability for reflective trim could prompt its incorporation into garments available to the public, and thus, potentially decrease pedestrian-related motor vehicle accidents. The present study measured the extent to which people are willing to pay extra or less for clothing with reflective material compared to the same items without reflective material. People reported they are willing to pay more for reflective material on sports-related, children's and inclement-weather clothing. Implications for safety and future research are discussed.

The study attempts to predict the dynamics that play a role in the process through which consumers accept wearable technology. A research model, in the form of a structural diagram, is proposed in search of the acceptance or buying intention of wearable technology via subjective norms, perceived usefulness, attitude towards the behaviour, perceived behavioural control and the related beliefs. In the study applied to smart bra and t-shirt products, the results show that subjective norms and attitudes towards behaviour are found significant in direct influence to buying intention, but perceived usefulness is not directly related to it. Perceived usefulness and behavioural control are found significant to indirect influence in buying intention through their effects on attitude. In addition, perceived behavioural control is directly related to attitude only for smart bras. In both the products, subjective norms, perceived usefulness, attitude and perceived behavioural control appear to be explained by a set of salient beliefs.
