moreSan Rafael is situated on the extreme south of the Río Verde plain, just in transition to the Sierra Gorda deep valleys, north of Queretaro State. Archaeologically was characterized as part of one local cultural complex, whose origin is related to Gulf Coast peoples. In this article, first I expose some natural advantages that ancient San Ciro – Arroyo Seco Valley sedentary settlers used for appropriation of the space, including strategic location since this is the natural north access to mountainous region. This research shows, based on survey, topography, and San Rafael settlement pattern regularities, how it was modified the terrain of a long hill for site location. Also I present the different sections of the site, some of them include civic ceremonial groups or housing developments with particular architectural answers.
