The floor wax that are popularly known have side effects that are bad for the health. It also has a pungent odor that irritates most people. Studies show that constant exposure to the inhalation of the odor of cleaning products, specially floor wax, have bad respiratory effects. The purpose of this study is to create an alternative for floor wax that eliminates the bad respiratory and dermatological side effects, that can be obtained from floor wax, with the same or better quality than the floor waxes known today. The scope area of the study will focus on the households in the Philippines. The alternative that the researchers have found is to replace the toxic ingredients used for floor wax to banana peel. The methods of this study are mostly done by comparative experiments, survey and observation. The data from Brand X against the test results obtained from our experimentation was used for comparison in order to examine which is product quality is better. The researcher's experiment's goal was to obtain results which can be used as a comparison for odor, friction and shine. The result for the odor of the banana peel floor wax was not strong compared to the odor of the Brand X. The banana peel floor wax also has more friction and shine than the Brand X. It concludes that Banana peel with Carnauba wax is comparable with the commercial floor wax and can be a potential alternative in terms of cost, benefits, acceptability and effectiveness of its use in a concrete flooring material. The researchers recommend to use and help improve the Banana peel with Carnauba wax attribute qualities for better-quality effectiveness and acceptability and to further research for other factors that would increase the effectivity of the product and decrease its cost.

Since  1982,  creature  Olfaction  system  has

The deployment of odor-baited tools for sampling and controlling malaria vectors is limited by a lack of potent synthetic mosquito attractants. A synthetic mixture of chemical compounds referred to as "the Mbita blend" (MB) was shown to attract as many host-seeking malaria mosquitoes as attracted to human subjects. We hypothesized that this effect could be enhanced by adding one or more attractive compounds to the blend. We tested changes in the capability of MB (ammonia + L-lactic acid + tetradecanoic acid +3-methyl-1-butanol + carbon dioxide) to attract host-seeking malaria mosquitoes by addition of selected dilutions of butyl-2-methylbutanoate (1:10,000), 2-pentadecanone (1:100), 1-dodecanol (1:10,000), and butan-1-amine (1:10,000,000). کنترل بو و خوردگی در شبکه های جمع آوری فاضلاب یکی از دغدغه های همیشگی مهندسین محسوب می گردد. به دلیل هزینه های هنگفت ناشی از خوردگی لوله های جمع آوری فاضلاب و همچنین اعتراض ساکنین منطقه به دلیل تولید بوی نامطبوع از فاضلاب، تحقیقات گسترده ای جهت یافتن شیوه های موثر و کم هزینه برای کنترل این معضلات ارائه شده است. هدف از این مطالعه جمع آوری دستاوردهای موجود در زمینه کنترل بو و خوردگی با تاکید بر حذف سولفید هیدروژن به عنوان عامل اصلی این معضلات می باشد. در این مطالعه روشهای کنترل تولید سولفید هیدروژن همچون استفاده از اکساینده های شیمیایی، استفاده از رقابت شیمیایی، استفاده از پیل های سوختی میکروبی، ترسیب شیمیایی سولفید، استفاده از باکتریوفاژها، تهویه و تصفیه هوای حاوی سولفیدهیدروژن مورد معرفی و بحث قرار گرفته است. کاربرد این روشها می تواند بطور موثری در کاهش خوردگی و بوی حاصل از عملیات جمع آوری فاضلاب موثر بوده و هزینه های ناشی از خوردگی شبکه را به شدت کاهش دهد.

Building occupants are exposed to complex mixtures of air pollutants including many volatile organic compounds (VOCs). A recent review summarized the central tendency and upper limit indoor VOC concentrations measured in North American residences and office buildings since 1990. Although this database is limited in many respects, it serves as a useful starting point for evaluating the potential health and comfort effects of indoor VOC exposures. Excluding cancer and birth defects, the primary concern is chronic inhalation exposure to toxicants that can cause serious health problems. Additionally, building occupants react to the quality of indoor air through their sensory perceptions and frequently experience unpleasant odors and irritation of the eyes and upper respiratory tract.
In this paper, we conduct a simple screening-level assessment of indoor VOC concentrations. We compare measured VOC concentrations to published odor thresholds, sensory irritation levels derived for the general population, and noncancer chronic health guidelines. Hazard quotients are individually calculated for these three effects by dividing maximum or derived 95th percentile VOC concentrations by our selected best estimates of guidance levels for the general population. These results provide a basis for broadly classifying commonly encountered VOCs into groups according to the likelihood that they will produce effects among building occupants.
This methodology shows that only a small number of the more than 100 reported VOCs exceed levels that are likely to be of concern with respect to the health and comfort endpoints considered. Although data is lacking for a number of odorous compounds potentially present in buildings, the results indicate that carboxylic acids, higher molecular weight aldehydes and less volatile aromatic hydrocarbons are most likely to be perceived by olfaction and that there is more probability of detection in residences than in offices. Sensory irritation levels were approached or exceed by only a very small number of relatively potent, reactive VOCs. Of these, acrolein was by far the most potent irritant. Although more detailed consideration of the underlying toxicological data is needed, the results suggest that only a small number of commonly measured VOCs, when considered singly, are likely to produce serious irreversible health effects not associated with cancer. These compounds include lower molecular weight aldehydes, and several aromatic hydrocarbons. Again, acrolein stands out as the most potent compound.
Based on these results, we recommend that studies to characterize indoor VOC concentrations and exposures focus their resources on compounds that are most likely to impact occupants as determined by the study objectives. For a very few compounds, such as acrolein and formaldehyde, the evidence based on sensory irritation and chronic toxicity appears sufficient to warrant efforts to reduce and control sources of these compounds in buildings.

Mammals generally have the ability to extract odor information contained in complex mixtures of molecular components. However, odor mixture processing has been studied electrophysiologically only in insects, crustaceans, and fish. As a first step toward a better understanding of this processing in high vertebrates, we studied the representation of odor mixtures in the rat olfactory bulb, i.e., the second-order level of the olfactory pathways. We compared the single-unit responses of mitral cells, the main cells of the olfactory bulb, to pure odors and to their binary mixtures. Eighty-six mitral cells were recorded in anesthetized freely breathing rats stimulated with five odorants and their 10 binary mixtures. The importance of the sense of smell and its role can however vary inter-individually and culturally. Despite the growing body of literature on differences in olfactory performance or hedonic preferences across the globe, the aspects of a given culture as well as culturally universal individual differences affecting odor awareness in human social life remain unknown. This paper presents results of experiments carried out between 2013 and 2016, in which we searched for correspondences between the olfactory stimuli of perfumes and the visual stimuli of their primary packaging. In the present study, we explore a potential correlation between colors and smells. The chosen methodology consisted of analyzing colors from two different points of view: first, how companies use colors to represent smells; and second, how consumers perceive fragrances and how they correlate them to colors.
