Background. Safety netting advice is an essential component of the management of acutely ill children, yet an international consensus definition is lacking. More research on parents’ ideas about safety netting advice is needed to develop a broadly supported definition. In this study we aimed to explore the perspectives of Belgian parents about safety netting advice for their acutely ill child(ren) presenting to ambulatory care.Methods . We conducted focus groups with Belgian parents of children 6 months to 12 years old who were recruited through maximum variation sampling. We transcribed the interviews verbatim. Using a combination of inductive and deductive ‘in vivo’ coding we distilled themes from the data. As per the Grounded Theory approach, we reiterated between data collection, coding, and analysis. Management of prawn trawling fisheries is a difficult task due to the competing interests of strongly motivated stakeholders and interest groups. This occurs because prawn trawling operations are technically complex, require large capital investments and exhibit high running costs while owners have limited property rights over the resources that they harvest. Prawn stocks are public resources and are managed with a view to provide maximum benefit to the broad community. Additionally their exploitation also involves the incidental capture of significant numbers of other animals of no commercial value (bycatch) and causes impacts on seabed morphologies, which are involved in many diverse ecosystem processes.
At the policy level an intention to manage trawl fisheries in a comprehensive way is backed by a mandated approach that is designed to capture all of the above issues and interests. That approach is termed Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD).
The work in this thesis is designed to produce a prediction tool for prawn trawling performance that is based on modelling the physical nature of prawn trawling activities. It is proposed that the resulting tool is essential for working to manage the multi-dimensional aspects of prawn trawling fisheries.
Three discrete objectives for the thesis are; to expand and improve an existing Prawn Trawling Performance Model (PTPM) so that it is more accurate and relevant to a broader range of questions, to evaluate the capacity of the PTPM to predict the performance characteristics of real prawn trawling operations in terms of both engineering and catching performance and to investigate the problem space surrounding prawn trawl fisheries to identify and develop applications for the model.
A rudimentary PTPM  (Sterling 2000b) is expanded through the analysis of further empirical data collected for model and full-scale trawl gear. Eight area of improvement to the PTPM were considered and in all cases significant changes were made.
The accuracy of the new form of the model is here tested by comparing performance predictions with measurements of trawling performance for a variety of industrial trawl systems operated in the Queensland East Coast Trawl Fishery and also through comparing predicted trawling performance with prawn catches returned for trawlers operating in the Northern Prawn Fishery over the years 1970 to 2000.
In the first case, errors in predicting swept area rate, considered an important performance parameter, were less than 5%. Fine scale issues were explored using the available sea trial data and a number of areas of concern within the model are highlighted. These relate to accurately quantifying the forces involved in the interaction of the trawl gear with the seabed and accurately accounting for the interaction between components within trawl systems.
In the second case, the results suggest that between 50% and 60% of the variation in the seasonal catching performance of trawlers in the NPF is explained by predictions of swept area rate derived by the PTPM from the available data for that fishery.
A comprehensive survey of applications for the PTPM is conducted in context with approaching the management of prawn trawling fisheries using the principles of ESD as defined by the National Strategy for ESD (1992). The Northern Prawn Fishery is used as a case study to explore in finer detail applications for the PTPM. Issues arising from the implementation of some of the applications are discussed.

Eastern Nepal is rich in bats diversity, 34 species of bats have been recorded from 11 eastern districts and three districts remain till now. Even most of the districts surveyed including Udayapur have been focused only at some sites. Most of the area in the previously surveyed district has yet to be conducted. There is a lack of public awareness of the importance and values of bats. Many people have a negative attitude towards bats and there exist some prevailing threats to bats in Nepal. Study area includes 17 sites Churia range and Inner-Terai of Udayapur district. Roost survey and mist netting were conducted during six days of 2015 and 2016. In total four species of bats were recorded. 14 individuals of bats were captured from the roosts by gloved hands. However, bat could not be captured in mist nets. Bat species richness and activity in Dghoumes National Park (Southwest Tunisia): a preliminary survey. Bat fauna in eight of the main habitat types of Dghoumes National Park was inventoried using mist–netting, acoustic detection and roost search. Bats were active at night and recorded near water bodies and street lamps. We recorded the echolocation calls of six bat species: Eptesicus isabellinus, Pipistrellus kuhlii, Vansonia rueppellii, Asellia tridens, Tadarida teniotis and Rhinopoma cystops. Two bat colonies containing 111 individuals of R. cystops were found roosting in Jebel Morra cave and 54 individuals of A. tridens were found roosting in the ceiling of the Ecomuseum. Due to potential disturbance by visitors to the museum, we suggest strengthening management practices to ensure the usage of this roosting site in order to promote the conservation of A. tridens. Wild bees can be essential pollinators in natural, agricultural, and urban systems, but populations of some species have declined. Efforts to assess the status of wild bees are hindered by uncertainty in common sampling methods, such as pan traps and aerial netting, which may or may not provide a valid index of abundance across species and habitats. Mark-recapture methods are a common and effective means of estimating population size, widely used in vertebrates but rarely applied to bees. Here we review existing mark-recapture studies of wild bees and present a new case study comparing mark-recapture population estimates to pan trap and net capture for four taxa in a wild bee community. It is difficult to understand the composition and diversity of biological communities in complex and heterogeneous environments using traditional sampling methods. Recently, developments in environmental DNA metabarcoding have emerged as a powerful, non-invasive method for comprehensive community characterization and biodiversity monitoring in different types of aquatic ecosystems. In this study, water eDNA targeting fish (wf-eDNA) and four traditional fish sampling methods (electrofishing, gill netting, seining, trawling) were compared to evaluate the reliability and efficiency of wf-eDNA (vertebrate mitochondrial 12S ribosomal RNA (rRNA) as an alternative approach to assess the diversity and composition of freshwater fish communities. This is the first assessment of insect assemblages on soybean crops in Cambodia. Sweep netting and beat sheeting collection methods were used to evaluate the effectiveness of sampling arthropods and their collection efficiency in soybean crops and to determine soybean insect diversity and composition at two sites. Overall, arthropod populations sampled by sweep netting were substantially different compared to populations collected by beat sheeting. The sweep netting caught significantly higher numbers of most Orders; however, the beat sheeting caught a significantly higher number of Acari. Beat sheeting was also effective for sampling Nezara viridula which is a major invertebrate pest of soybean. There was a significant interaction between location and collection methods for both Hemiptera and Hymenoptera assemblages. Alternative long-lasting, practical and effective tools for applying insecticides on home walls against malaria vectors need to be developed. The use of wall hangings made from netting on interior walls for aesthetic purposes is a common practice in rural communities. Insecticide-treated net wall hangings can be produced in a long-lasting format and used in an approach that simulates indoor residual spraying (IRS). The efficacy of net wall hangings (NWH) treated with the residual organophosphate insecticide, pirimiphos methyl (1 g/sq m), was evaluated in experimental huts against malaria vectors in Muheza, Tanzania. To determine the optimum level of wall coverage required, NWH were tested on ceiling only, two walls, four walls, or four walls plus ceiling. Fruit tree production is challenged by climate change, which is characterized by heat waves, warmer winters, increased storms, and recurrent droughts. The technology of top netting may provide a partial solution, as it alleviates climatic effects by microclimate manipulation. The tree physiological performance is improved under the nets, with an increased productivity and quality. The application of photoselective nets, which also alter the light spectrum, may result in additional horticultural improvements. We present the results of a 5-year experimental study on Valencia oranges, examining three nets: red, pearl, and transparent. At any point along the post-harvest supply chain, commodities are vulnerable to insect infestation. This is due to a variety of factors, but includes landscape-scale movement of stored product insects to and from food facilities and natural refugia. Long-lasting insecticide-incorporated netting (LLIN) is an innovative tactic that may be used to intercept immigrating insects. LLIN can be used to cover gaps in architecture (e.g., vents, windows, eaves, or over pallets of goods) at food facilities. Another novel approach would be to use LLIN as a kill mechanism in attract-and-kill inspired interception traps on the perimeter of facilities. Furthermore, employing these two LLIN-based approaches together would create multiple protective barriers to reduce infestation in commodities. Tribolium castaneum (Herbst) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) and Trogoderma variabile Ballion (Coleoptera: Dermestidae) are two stored-product insects that cause extensive damage to a variety of postharvest commodities. Bats are the second most diverse mammals found in earth with around 1250 species in a single Chiropteran order. In Nepal, authentic list of 53 bat species have been prepared so far. This research was conducted in 10 VDCs of Rautahat and Sarlahi with the main objectives being assessing the status, diversity and threats. Key-informant survey, direct observation, roost survey and mist netting were done for assessing the primary data. A total of five species were identified. Deforestation, poaching, destruction of old houses, concrete constructions, use of chemical fertilizers in agricultural and fruit lands, change in the agricultural pattern and deliberate killing were identified as major. People’s attitude was satisfactory, though awareness level was found to be low. Diversity was found to be very high, but the respondents argued that the bats’ frequency was in continuous decrease from past few years. The vector/host ratio and host preference are important parameters for the modelling of vector-borne livestock diseases. It can be anticipated that Culicoides abundance is not homogeneously distributed in the landscape. We investigated the influence of host species (dairy cow, sheep, and a light-trap (LT) as a surrogate host) and distance of measurement to hosts on Culicoides abundance using a randomized block-design with 12 measuring days and seven 3-min aerial sweep-netting sessions per whole hour at three distances to the host (0, 10, and 25 m), from five hours before to and including one hour after sunset. Dairy cows were found to be a far stronger attractor of Culicoides midges than sheep, while both hosts were far stronger attractors of midges than the LT. This research was conducted to change natural feeding behavior of Tarsius (Tarsius spectrum) using fresh life insect into fresh meal material as new introducing feeding material by gradually optimal feeding system in wire netting pen.This research was focused on preference of Tarsius into fresh meal as new introducing feeding material and nutrient consumption.Result showed that Tarsius was able to be interested in different fresh meal as new introducing feeding material within relatively short time and to be adaptable on different nutrient consumption. Therefore, it can be concluded that (1) domesticating process of Tarsius was able to change their natural feeding behavior using fresh life insects into fresh meal material as new introducing feeding within 27 day; (2) Average nutrient consumption of Tarsius for new introducing feeding varied one to each other in wire netting pen.

A comparison study was conducted to determine the bird species composition, relative abundance, species diversity and feeding guilds based on point count (PC) and mist netting (MN) at the Paya Indah Wetland Reserve (PIWR), Peninsular Malaysia. A total of 13872 bird observations belonging to 100 species and 38 families were recorded using the PC method over 15 consecutive months, and a total of 1478 bird individuals belonging to 65 species and 33 families were captured using the MN method over 1260 netting hours. The results showed that Treron vernans (1723 observations; 12.42%) was the most abundant bird species using the PC method, whereas Pycnonotus goiavier (378 individuals; 25.64%) was the most abundant bird species using the MN method. There are an increasing number of software products that have been identified as e–safety-netting tools, particularly since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. e–Safety-netting tools can have a variety of functions, such as sending clinician alerts, facilitating administrative tasking, providing decision support, and sending reminder text messages to patients. Based on a simulation approach, this paper compares different over‐the‐counter (OTC) clearing models regarding their netting efficiency and loss‐concentration implications. The results indicate that the mandatory clearing of all standardized OTC derivatives by a Central Counterparty (CCP) propagated by regulators would significantly decrease systemic risk as compared to existing clearing arrangements only if the multilateral netting benefits of the CCP and loss mutualization are fully attained. Therefore, regulators have to ensure that there is a critical mass of asset classes under mandatory clearing, that broad market participation in the CCP is enabled, and that there is an appropriate client asset protection regime.

In the Balearic Islands, different trammel net designs have been adopted to promote fisheries sustainability and reduce discards. Here, we compare the catch performance of three trammel net designs targeting the spiny lobster in terms of biomass, species composition and revenue from commercial catches and discards. Designs differ in the netting fiber type (standard polyfilament, PMF, or a new polyethylene multi-monofilament, MMF) and the use of a guarding net or , a mesh piece intended to reduce discards. Catches were surveyed by an on-board observer from 1,550 netting walls corresponding to 70 nets. The number of marketable species captured indicated that the lobster trammel net fishery has multiple targets, which contribute significantly to the total revenue. Best horticulture management has been practiced to reduce the amount of inorganic fertilizer in connection with net (mosquito net)  for higher production of Indian spinach. Excessive use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture promoted negative effect on the environment and human health in Bangladesh. The experiment was conducted at the Horticulture Farm of Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh during the period February to May 2016. Two factor experiments were conducted on nettings: control (N0), Netting (N1) and different fertilizers: control (F0), Vermicompost 10 t/ha (F1), Vermicompost 15 t/ha (F2), 2/3rdof F2+ 1/3rdof F4 (F3), Inorganic fertilizer (F4).
