Logical and semantical notions

Monografia  si  kladie  za  cieľ  kriticky  zmapovať chápanie pojmu možných svetov. V historicky ladenej prvej kapitole opisuje formovanie sémantiky možných svetov, spolu s naznačením niektorých problémov, ktoré so sebou prináša, a ktoré prenikavým spôsobom odhaľoval predovšetkým W. V. O. Quine.
V ďalších dvoch kapitolách sa zameriava na modernejšie názory na povahu možných svetov, pričom hlavná pozornosť je venovaná dichotómii medzi posibilistickým a aktualistickým prístupom k otázke modalít, popri ktorom je nevyhnutné posúdiť aj iné rozlíšenia (esencializmus - antiesencializmus, realizmus - redukcionizmus, príp. erzacizmus či fikcionalizmus, naturalizmus - nenaturalizmus a pod.). Zvýšená pozornosť je venovaná koncepciám D. Lewisa, S. Kripkeho, A. Plantingu, R. M. Adamsa, N. Reschera a D. Armstronga.
Neštandardný prístup k problematike možných svetov je zachytený vo štvrtej kapitole. Táto kapitola je predovšetkým venovaná významnej koncepcii J. Hintikku, ktorá pracuje s pojmom epistemických možných svetov a dokumentuje  príklon  k modifikácii  a  relativizácii  modálneho diskurzu.
V monografii sú objasnené niektoré reprezentatívne koncepcie možných svetov, resp. možných indivíduí a je v nej naznačený celkový postup od posudzovania možných svetov ako ideálnych logických konštruktov, cez ich relativizáciu prostredníctvom oddelených oblastí indivíduí pre jednotlivé svety a ďalej prostredníctvom vzťahu dosiahnuteľnosti až k fikčným, nemožným a neštandardným možným svetom.

I argue against inferentialism about logic. First, I argue against an analogy between logic and chess, before considering a more basic objection to stipulating inference rules as a way of establishing the meaning of logical constants. The objection-the Mushroom Omelette Objection-is that stipulative acts are partly constituted by logical notions, and therefore cannot be used to explain logical thought. I then argue that the same problem also attaches to following existing conventional rules, since either those rules have logical contents, or following those conventional rules is done for logical reasons. Lastly, I compare this argument with other arguments found in Quine's early work, and consider two attempts to reply to Quine.

It is widely assumed that this article has something to say about what is sometimes called the problem of distinguishing logical constants from non-logical constants. But what this problem is taken to be varies from author to author and—within the writings of one author—from publication to publication according to which object language the “constants” occur in, how that object language is interpreted, and other factors, parameters, constraints, and the like.
It is time to reread this classic paper, which is based on a lecture by the author to the Buffalo Logic Colloquium attended by the editor, who took notes and on the same day wrote an article on the lecture for his University’s periodical publication.
It is time to reexamine the various meanings attached to ‘the problem of distinguishing logical constants from non-logical constants’ and similar expressions.

La propuesta de lo neofantástico de Jaime Alazraki ha intentado reemplazar la definición de lo fantástico del panorama del relato transgresor en el contexto de la postmodernidad. Nosotros plantearemos una renovación de los valores de la transgresión de lo fantástico a través de una aproximación al género desde la perspectiva semántica. Para ello usamos la semántica de mundos posibles como método que afiance la vigencia de lo fantástico en el marco de la segunda mitad del siglo xx. Finalmente, como muestra del funcionamiento de nuestro método generamos una nueva tipología de la imposibilidad que dé cabida a todas las expresiones de la transgresión en lo fantástico tradicional y postmoderno.

This paper represents the approach for the history of mathematical logic
which contrasts with the logic mathematization attempts history and
treats it as a history of the making and of the developing inside mathematics such concepts and notations which had been used for constructing the predicate logic. The paper substantiates the necessity of the distinction between variables and parameters and studies the history of the making of the distinction as well as the mathematical single symbols appearance. It is considered in the paper the making of symbolic notations for mathematical operations, the forming of function concept and of meanings for generalized marking for functions. It is briefly considered the making of symbolic notations for mathematical relations and marked some ways of the predicate concept forming. The paper pays any attention to the making of the first symbolic notations for logical connectives and the forming modern conception for quantification.
