This study examined the influence of religiosity and knowledge of zakat on zakat awareness. It also investigates the influence of religiosity, knowledge of zakat, and zakat awareness on zakat compliance. This study involved 338 NPWZ owners who were registered as muzakki at the LPZ and lived in Serang, Banten province Indonesia. Proportional random sampling was used for respondent selection. This study used a variant-based structural equation test using PLS-SEM. The results indicate that religiosity positively influences zakat awareness and that knowledge of zakat also has a positive influence on zakat awareness. Furthermore, religiosity positively influenced zakat compliance, and knowledge of zakat enhanced zakat compliance. Higher levels of zakat awareness were correlated with increased zakat compliance. It's important to understand how much eligible Muslims actually follow through with giving zakat. This knowledge is key for gathering funds to help fight poverty and support community growth. Pese a la reconocida importancia sobre la explicitación del conocimiento dentro de la gestión del conocimiento, este proceso ha sido mayormente estudiado desde la perspectiva interna. En Venezuela se han generado transformaciones socio-políticas que están incidiendo en la gestión de las cuencas hidrográficas, de manera particular en la Cuenca del Río Caroní, ubicada al sur del país en el Estado Bolívar, donde se plantea comprender los retos para su gobernabilidad, a partir de la articulación de conocimientos, las prácticas institucionales y comunitarias. Es un estudio empírico, concebido bajo un enfoque adaptativo donde el investigador asume un rol de “participante-observador”. Se desarrolló un protocolo de estudio para las escalas temporales, con la reconstrucción socio-histórica de la institucionalidad socio-ambiental y sus actores entre 1960 y 2012. El trabajo se ubica en el período 1999-2012, incluye un período de campo entre los años 2007-2012, que contempló visitas, entrevistas, talleres con grupos focales, conversaciones informales, reuniones, asambleas en espacios de articulaciones institucionales y comunitarias, entre otras técnicas. Trabajamos también con el análisis de redes sociales para las relaciones de poder entre los multi-actores participantes a multi-escalas espaciales y con multi-niveles de acción con el estudio de casos múltiples. Entre los resultados se tienen: 1. La reconstrucción de la institucionalidad para la gestión de la cuenca del río Caroní, en dos momentos diferenciados por el año 1999, cuando se produce la refundación del Estado venezolano con la llegada de “la Revolución de Chávez”, que permitió la estructuración de un “Andamiaje Jurídico” y la instauración de una nueva “Arquitectura Institucional” en la cuenca y las nuevas relaciones “Estado- Sociedad-Gobierno-Nación”. 2. El surgimiento de prácticas institucionales y comunitarias que incluyó las formas de “Organización y Participación Política” para la gestión del agua y la convergencia de diferentes percepciones, conocimientos y sobretodo las “Acciones Comunes” que se han construido en torno al agua para la participación social y una tercera generación de organismos públicos de agua. 3. La nueva institucionalidad indígena que está transformando las formas de interacción y participación del Pueblo Pemón con el mundo no indígena, que modifican el uso de sus recursos naturales y sus patrimonios culturales. 4. Así también se presentan los valores culturales y ecológicos, percepciones y conocimientos en torno al agua del Pemón- Arekunä del alto del río Caroní, que muestran cambios en lo subjetivo y objetivo en los patrones culturales que este pueblo indígena trae a primer plano como consecuencia de su nueva organización política. A manera de conclusión se tiene que: el agua no sólo tiene implicaciones en sus dimensiones naturales, políticas, sociales y económicas; se evidenció con este estudio la dimensión céntrica del agua como un elemento clave para el estudio de las relaciones de poder, la definición de la participación social y el replanteamiento de agendas de gestión socio-ambiental e investigación, entre otras arenas de las políticas públicas. Además se hace explícito que la gestión del agua va mas allá del suministro de agua potable y saneamiento, que su gestión se sustenta en límites y vínculos territoriales no específicos; más bien se circunscribe a sus características múltiples (escalas-territorios, niveles-jurisdicciones y actores) que define las áreas funcionales para la gestión. También, se han registrado relaciones diferenciadas que responden a los significados y valores que asignan los colectivos a su construcción social, imaginarios y representaciones del agua y el territorio para la satisfacción de sus necesidades de vida. Pero además, con las prácticas de las organizaciones comunitarias se evidenciaron que existen condiciones, relaciones, intereses e implicaciones objetivas y subjetivas en torno al agua y el territorio, completamente diferenciadas entre los usuarios de la cuenca alta (comunidades indígenas) y los de la cuenca baja (comunidades urbanas) que se distinguen en los valores culturales y las interpretaciones del ser-estar en su relación de conexión y convivencia tanto del pasado, como del presente y el futuro que es dado por el mismo río Caroní. Ambos grupos de percepciones validan la tesis de la importancia de gestionar con las bases comunitarias, culturales las prácticas, interpretaciones y conocimientos locales, a manera de continuar fortaleciendo el ejercicio de las políticas públicas y la instauración de la legislación emprendidos desde 1999 en sus diferentes dimensiones y sectores en una suerte de integralidad y sustentabilidad deseada en un proceso socio-político que apunta a una posible gobernabilidad efectiva en la cuenca.

This study's main objective is to identify the constraint hindering ICT integration in education. The spread of autonomous vehicles could reduce the number of vehicles in urban transport to such an extent that it offers a realistic alternative to addressing the growing problems of urban mobility (congestion, noise, air pollution, stress due to commuting, etc.). The acceptance of technology by society is an important prerequisite for this, but positive expectations are accompanied by considerable anxiety and uncertainty, and we are therefore facing a highly complex, multifactorial challenge. The aim of the study is to highlight that the limited awareness and uncertainty regarding autonomous vehicles set a framework that can amplify the role of behavioural economics. We show how nudges can steer consumers towards the use of autonomous vehicles, facilitating the emergence of sustainable urban mobility.

Implementation of CBC has come with challenges which directly influence the success of learning process. However much teachers and learners are encouraged to make use of the immediate natural resources to concretize subject concepts, most of the issues center on the use of Information Communication Technology (ICTs) to harness CBC. As schools implement the integration of ICT in the CBC they ought to run it with acceptable levels of ICT literacy which aspect is lacking. The new CBC encourages schools to train ICT as a vehicle in all subjects than a standalone subject. The main objective of the study was to harness the integration of ICT in the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) for lower secondary schools in South West Uganda We employed the philosophy of interpretivism with qualitative research approach and inductive strategy. This is because we wanted to make a subjective judgment on the collected data as observed during the teaching and learning process (interpretivist) and study a small aspect of CBC and later extrapolate to cover the entire CBC at secondary school level (inductive). The study shows that up-to-date technology and their accessories should be working, available and accessible to facilitate CBC in secondary schools. Learners are more active when they use internet and they discover a lot on their own during and after the lesson, and this is the core of CBC. it is important to integrate ICTs in CBC implementation process as it harnesses teaching and learning for teachers and learners

Research and Development (R&D) project management style in companies can be different according with their size and technological intensity. R&D Projects are characterized by high technical and economic uncertainty. And their execution carried out a learning process, although its aims were achieve the results planned. Results from a sample of 71 Spanish firms evidence that best practice in R&D project management promote the innovation in two ways. The purpose of practices is positively related to absorptive capacity of knowledge (CAC) in the organisation, and in turn, CAC affects the success of R&D projects.

This chapter examines the empirical effect of Human Resource Management (HRM) practices on employees' knowledge-sharing behaviour in Pakistan. A research model is developed for this chapter and hypotheses are formulated. The research sample is comprised of 390 respondents from 19 Knowledge Intensive Firms (KIFs) in Pakistan. The authors have employed Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) techniques to test the proposed hypotheses. The results suggest that collaborative HRM practices have a positive effect on employees' knowledge sharing behaviour. Surprisingly, they find that employees' knowledge-sharing behaviour is independent of reward systems and employee recognition. This chapter is entirely based on employees' perceptions; therefore, the results of this study are from an employee's perspective, rather than from a management perspective. This article is about the design and implementation of a wiki-based knowledge management system for improving emergency response. Most organizations face difficult challenges in managing knowledge for emergency response, but it is crucial for response effectiveness that such challenges be overcome. Organizational members must share the knowledge needed to plan for emergencies. They also must be able during an emergency to access relevant plans and communicate about their responses to it. This study, which employed action research methods, suggests that wiki technology can be used to manage knowledge for emergency response. It also suggests that effective use of a knowledge management system for emergency response requires thorough training, a knowledge-sharing culture, and a good fit between emergency-response tasks and system capabilities.

The importance of knowledge and cultural integration has been widely recognized as a vital condition to an organization survival, especially if knowledge and culture are diverse. This diversity needs to be integrated into organizations in order to establish common knowledge and culture to support its businesses. However, limited studies have been carried out in this area in particular within Islamic banks context. This chapter discusses the strategy of knowledge and culture integration in Islamic banks in Indonesia. This study used a case study approach. Purpose-The current study probes the multi-dimensional link between total quality management (TQM) and knowledge management (KM) and investigates how different TQM's dimensions impacts KM processes and how this nexus impacts organizational performance (operational and financial performance) by considering KM as an intermediating variable between TQM and organizational performance. Design/methodology/approach-Six TQM practices are taken from "Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award", namely leadership, customer focus, strategic planning, human resource management, process management and information and analysis; KM processes include knowledge creation, acquisition, sharing and application and organizational performance comprises operational and financial performance. The researcher put together data from different sized services and manufacturing firms, from small, to medium and large firms located in the United Kingdom (UK). Findings-The results suggested that a positive correlation existed between TQM, KM and organizational performance. KM is also shown to have quite a strong and positive influence on firm operational and financial performance and partially mediates the relationship between TQM and corporate performance. Dimensional analysis indicates that leadership, strategic planning, customer focus and HRM have a significant positive impact on all KM process, while mixed results have been found for process management and information and analysis. The contextual analysis indicates that except for knowledge creation, TQM plays an equally significant role for the majority of manufacturing establishments and services firms. Originality/value-The present research makes a significant contribution to the scarce literature on the relationship between TQM and KM (mainly at dimensional level), particularly in the context of the UK, and provides a detailed understanding of the relations between different TQM and KM dimensions, and how their relationship impacts on the operational and financial performance of different sizes of manufacturing and services firms. Modern algorithms for mining frequent itemsets face noteworthy deterioration of performance when minimum support tends to decrease, especially for sparse datasets. Long-tailed itemsets, frequent itemsets found at lower minimum support, are significant for present-day applications such as recommender systems. In this study, we have developed a novel power set based method named as HARnessing the Power of Power sets (HARPP) for mining  frequent itemsets. HARPP iteratively generates power sets to make combinations of overlapping varying-sized subsets of I, where I is a set of items in a large database. Intrinsic feature of creating power sets along with the use of set data structure ensures the agility of HARPP because most of its operations take constant running time. Without storing it entirely in memory, HARPP scans the dataset only once and mines frequent itemsets on the fly. Due to the rapid technologic change, we see the role of manufacturing workers continuously changing: the increasing automation of manufacturing processes has reduced the amount of manual work, whereas the increasing complexity of manufacturing systems requires workers to build-up broader and deeper skills. In this paper, the authors suggest a participative knowledge management approach to empower manufacturing workers. Starting from a comprehensive empirical analysis of the existing work practices in a manufacturing company, the authors have developed and validated a knowledge management system prototype. The prototype is aimed for training, problem solving, and facilitating the discovery, acquisition, and sharing of manufacturing knowledge. The conducted evaluation of the prototype indicates that workers' skills and level of work satisfaction will increase since the knowledge management system allows faster problem solving by finding better solutions for observed defects.

This article describes how e-marketing is increasingly gaining interest within Islamic businesses. It is important to consider the extent to which it fits comfortably within principle notions of Islam and Sharia law. An Islamic business should ensure that its e-marketing strategy must be devoid of any contentious or exaggerated claims and there must be no excessive risk. As marketing practices include accentuating the benefits and features of products and services, and downplaying the negative attributes which potentially could lead to a consumer making an informed decision based on this unbalanced presentation.
