This paper presents an Operational Transconductance Amplifier realized using Floating Gate MOSFETs only. This can be used as Neuron Activation Function with wide linear range and adaptable threshold level and slope. This circuit is suitable for analog signal processing and neural network applications. This circuit generates log sigmoid and tan sigmoid NAF functions simultaneously. In this circuit the parameters of NAF function can be easily changed by changing voltage at the control gate of FGMOSFET. The linear range of the proposed FGMOSFET based OTA circuit is large and is equal to 2 V with a power supply of +0.75 V. Power analysis and noise analysis of the proposed circuit is performed. Mismatch study is performed using Monte Carlo simulation. TSPICE simulation results using 2 mum N-well process are presented. Layout design of the circuit is done using L-Edit in Tanner Tool.

Nowadays, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems are in use throughout the world, helping to supply a wide variety of critical loads, in situations of power outage or anomalies of the mains. This article describes the most common line problems and the relationship between these and the different existing kinds of UPS, showing their operation modes as well as the existent energy storage systems. It also addresses an overview of the control schemes applied to different distributed UPS configurations. Finally, it points out the applicability of such systems in distributed generation, microgrids, and renewable energy systems.

The matrix converter is an array of controlled semiconductor switches that connects directly the three-phase source to the three-phase load. This converter has several attractive features that have been investigated in the last two decades. In the last few years, an increase in research work has been observed, bringing this topology closer to the industrial application. This paper presents the state-of-the-art view in the development of this converter, starting with a brief historical review. An important part of the paper is dedicated to a discussion of the most important modulation and control strategies developed recently. Special attention is given to present modern methods developed to solve the commutation problem. Some new arrays of power bidirectional switches integrated in a single module are also presented. Finally, this paper includes some practical issues related to the practical application of this technology, like overvoltage protection, use of filters and ride-through capability

This paper presents the design and analysis of a new configuration of parallel connected inverter suitable for Distributed Generation Application. The configuration consists of dc/dc converter and parallel three-phase dc/ac inverter. Series resistors added to the inverter output to maintain same current in each inverter of the two parallel inverters, and to reduce the circulating current in the parallel inverters to the minimum. Third harmonic injection PWM (THIPWM) reduces the total harmonic distortion and to make maximum use of the voltage source. DSP was used to generate the THIPWM and the control algorithm for the converter. PID controller is applied on the full-bridge dc/dc converter side to maintain the ac voltage to the required level. Selected experimental results have been shown to validate the proposed system.

This paper presents a grid connected system. Three phase DC-AC inverters used to convert the regulated DC power to AC power suitable for grid connection. Third harmonic injection PWM (THIPWM) was employed to reduce the total harmonic distortion and for maximum use of the voltage source. DSP was used to generate the accurate THIPWM for grid connection, by synchronizing the inverter voltage with the grid voltage. The application of THIPWM to parallel connected inverter reduces the total harmonic distortion and increases efficiency of the inverter. Experimental results validate the developed model and the proposed system.

Power supplies prepare for a power failure often apply converters in the input side, and use inverters in the output side. The input side and the output side of power supply are coupled by high frequency transformer. This method requires a transformer. Because the switch devices included in the power flow increase, the power conversion efficiency declines. Though, high frequency transformer-less circuits are proposed, these circuits often use voltage divide capacitors. And these schemes require the voltage balance control of the voltage divide capacitors. This paper mentions about the transformer-less uninterruptible power supply which can omit the voltage divide capacitors. Delta-sigma modulation technique is introduced to the power supply and the proposed scheme has output voltage regulation function. © 2013 IEEE.
