El presente artículo plantea un modelo en el que se describe el proceso a través del cual el estrés psicosocia] puede inducir el desarrollo de la úlcera péptica duodenal (UPD) y los sistemas psicológicos, biológicos y sociales que se ponen alli en juego. Primero se analiza el papel de los sucesos vitales estresantes y del estrés percibido. Posteriormente se revisa cómo las estrategias de afrontamiento y la atribución causal del propio sujeto contribuyen a la UPD. Mas tarde se analiza cómo el estrés podría permitir que la bacteria H. Pylori se convierta en un agente patógeno, produciendo una actividad del ácido péptico y disminuyendo las defensas de la mucosa. Finalmente el artículo termina planteando relaciones entre UPD y nivel socio-económico.

Despite its ubiquity as the term, ‘student movements’ are not easy to build or sustain. This is because campus activism typically features a diversity of political views and tactical preferences, and is organisationally restricted by the constant turnover of graduating cohorts. This chapter uses the 2010/11 UK student protests to explore some of the challenges students face in building a wider student movement. United initially by a common grievance of rising tuition fees, students responded quickly with a multi-repertoire mass campaign. Yet its tactical breadth generated diverging collective experiences and identities, and once the fees were passed by Government these identities proved difficult to unite as an overarching movement.

The telecommunications industry has undergone major paradigm shifts in previous years. One of these is the shift from circuit-switched networks towards packet-switched networks. There is hardly any doubt that IP will be the ubiquitous transport protocol for multimedia of the future. At present, the work towards Internet telephony has attracted a lot of attention. Two standards have been developed: SIP (session initiation protocol) by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) and H.323 by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU). The rapid deployment of services on top of SIP is hindered by a well known problem, feature interactions, also well known in traditional telephony networks. In this paper, the technological changes in SIP compared to the traditional telephony network are highlighted as well as the impact of the changed business environment. In a multi-service provider environment (as encouraged by a SIP environment), the feature interaction problem is regarded to be an even more pressing issue. Services of different providers from a multitude of service creators are likely to interwork. This in turn leads to the fact that the ad-hoc approaches to service interaction handling, commonly applied in the industry today, will not be sufficient any more. In this paper, a new approach addressing these changes is introduced and the results of a case study are presented

Background: It has been previously demonstrated that the enzyme α-l-iduronidase (IDUA) of patients with MPS I shows a different biochemical behavior in each of the three clinical forms of these. The bacterium Helicobacter pylori is the main agent causing gastroduodenal pathologies in humans. The infection with this microorganism is efficaciously treated with a combination of two antibiotics and one anti-acid, although, the appearance of strains resisting the antibiotics used in therapies, is the principal factor conducting to therapeutic failures. In this study, PCR amplifications and sequence analysis of the entire rdxA gene and a fragment of the ARNr16S gene were done to detect mutations involved in metronidazol and tetracycline resistance, respectively. H. pylori strains isolated from gastric biopsies of thirty seven Cuban dyspeptic patients belonging to Centro de Investigaciones Médico Quirúrgicas hospital were analyzed.
