Green gram

Pulses occupy unique place in Indian diet with supplying of vegetable protein to primarily
starchy diet and provide an essential supplement for balance diet. Therefore, it is essential
to increase the sustainable productivity with more appropriate management of nutrient
utilization of plants so that with same area, we can increase pulses sustainable production.
In future sustainable pulse production will greatly depend on soil health because of heavy
doses of chemical fertilizers, extensive removal of phosphorus by the crops under intensive
cultivation and degraded soil condition day by day will be chief in concern for decreasing
sustainability in production and environment. In this regard, a field experiment was
conducted at Agriculture Research Farm, SKNAU, Jobner with four levels of phosphorus
(0, 20, 40 and 60 kg/ha) in greengram. Results workout in quadratic equation with four
levels of phosphorus found that 49.7 kg/ha is proved to be the best dose for optimum input
responsive yield (1216.6 kg/ha.). With this in the experiment we also find out the
correlation and regression between grain yield (kg/ha) and independent variables (X), and
found positive values of all calculated variables.

Powdery mildew disease of the Black gram, Mung bean and Pea are a major constraint in the production. The resistance of plants to various pathogens depends on synthesis and level of various defence enzymes like hydrolases; peroxidases and antimicrobial compounds like phytoalexins (Kuc, l991 et al Kauffmann et al. l987; Boiler, l987; Mauch et al., l988; Kale and Choudhary 200l, Koche and Choudhary, 2005). The present study focused on visual screening of selected crop cultivars against the powdery mildew and its biochemical correlation with chlorophyll content, sugars, phenols content, PR-proteins and Phytoalexin activities. From the field studies, it was observed that selected crop was found with powdery mildew incidence. This disease incidence data was correlated with biochemical changes and level of chlorophyll, sugars, phenols, PR-protein and Phytoalexin activities.

Green gram is an important pulse crop, which is grown all over world for its nutritional value and improvement of soil fertility. Bacterial leaf spot disease devastated green gram field in Rajasthan, caused by pv. v with ranging severity from 10-80 per cent. Disease was observed initially on leaf, advanced to all parts of plants and it is transmitted to seed. Different artificial inoculation methods , single spray, double sprays at 24 h of interval, carborundum abrasion and single spray after multineedle pricking were standardized in which two sprays at 24 h interval which cause 68.80 per cent symptom of disease in plants was found most convenient and suitable for expressing symptom under glasshouse conditions. Efficacy of different fungicides and antibiotics were evaluated under in and pot experiments. Among different treatments maximum per cent disease control was recorded in Labistryn 89.72 per cent followed by Streptocycline (85.12%) and Bacterinol.
