The Data Management Plan (DMP) outlines the ways in which data is collected, generated and/or processed throughout the lifespan of a research project. As part of the European Commission’s goal to advance Open Science policy and practices – it is a mandatory component in Horizon Europe that all projects involving data include a DMP. Practically speaking, an initial DMP should be presented in the proposal. Later on, funded projects are required to provide a detailed DMP as a mandatory deliverable within 6 months from the grant signature date. In this article, we provide a guide which summarizes the main aspects that should be covered in the DMP of your Horizon Europe project.

Abstract
This paper discusses various issues and challenges facing philanthropy and nonprofit organizations in the United States of America. The writer believes that effective grant writing abilities are necessary for leaders in higher education and those who posses these skills will be able to lead more efficiently. The paper will present effective fundraising strategies and discuss management techniques employed by veterans in the nonprofit sector. Additionally, descriptions of each of the nine major areas associated with foundation funding are summarized, and certain grantsmanship practices are highlighted. Finally, this paper will discuss seven basic components necessary for writing a successful grant proposal.

Over the last couple years I put together a list of advice for graduate students applying for a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) scholarship or grant. SSHRC proposals have a different set of norms and requirements  than many other other grants and scholarships, but I expect that many of these tips could also be helpful for other types of applications. I applied for a SSHRC scholarship four times before I was successful, and over the course of that time I took workshops, participated in writing groups, had many conversations with peers and mentors, and attended courses on how to write a SSHRC proposal. I have combined much of the advice I picked up along the way and combined it with approaches that worked for me personally (and others I know). I consider this a living document, so if you see any egregious omissions or shortcomings, do not hesitate contact me. I hope these tips can make the process somewhat less painful for other applicants.

Throughout the years, our team continues to encounter one repeating issue with countless ERC applicants regarding the ERC grant writing phase of their grant proposal. In general, grant writing is the bread and butter of any researcher. Therefore, the ERC application will surely not be a first attempt at applying for funding. Some researchers already have impressive experience with writing and applying for other funding schemes. As a result, they already have substantial resources (ideas, plans and written material) available for any upcoming grant opportunity. When such an opportunity for a new grant arises, recycling, or rather ‘re-using’, previous grants applications seems to be the natural choice. Though this may work in many instances – ERC grant writing requires much different attention. Clearly stated: recycling (almost any) past grant application into an ERC application should be strongly reconsidered. In most cases these “recycled applications” are not successful. The Northeast MS AHEC collected and made available a number of data sets. The data were presented in both pdf and Excel so that those writing grant applications and reports could easily adapt the information to their proposals.
