O bolchevismo do tempo de Lenine sempre encarou a revolução na Rússia atrasada e camponesa como uma espécie de prelúdio ao que verdadeiramente importava, a revolução alemã. Lenine e Trotsky gostavam de afirmar que a principal tarefa do poder soviético era "ganhar tempo" até o proletariado alemão tomar o poder. Lenine afirmava que a revolução russa devia estar disposta a morrer pela revolução alemã. Na hipótese mais favorável, a ideia de uma federação socialista encabeçada pela Alemanha permitia encarar uma divisão internacional de trabalho em que a atrasada Rússia estabelecesse um plano de desenvolvimento orgânico e faseado, sem os ritmos traumáticos do "comunismo de guerra" ou da industrialização e da colectivização em marchas forçadas. A prioridade objectiva da revolução alemã não oferecia, pois, qualquer dúvida. A questão mais complexa é a de saber se, apesar do atraso do seu país, os bolcheviques se consideravam, subjectivamente, um modelo a seguir na Alemanha. Por outras palavras: supunham os dirigentes bolcheviques, principalmente a partir de 1917, que a tarefa principal dos revolucionários alemães consistia em absorverem e imitarem a experiência russa? A esta interrogação tentaremos esboçar uma resposta nas linhas que se seguem. Antes da Primeira Guerra Mundial O SPD foi desde cedo a coluna vertebral da Segunda Internacional, reconhecido como tal pela generalidade dos outros partidos do movimento. Os dirigentes russos não constituíam excepção e com frequência recorriam à autoridade dos seus camaradas alemães para arbitrarem conflitos especificamente russos. Assim, na sua acesa polémica contra os economicistas, Lenine invocou em "Que fazer?" a autoridade do principal teórico marxista do seu tempo, Karl Kautsky, a favor da tese de que a consciência socialista deveria ser introduzida no proletariado a partir "de fora". Mais tarde, em plena revolução de 1905, citou ainda o mesmo Kautsky contra o decano do marxismo russo, Plekhanov, que lamentava o recurso às armas por parte do proletariado russo. Ainda em 1910, Kautsky continuou a ser poupado por Lenine e por Trotsky, quando se envolveu numa discussão que o afastaria pessoalmente de Rosa Luxemburg. Perante um movimento pelo sufrágio universal e pela abolição da monarquia prussiana, Kautsky argumentava que só o socialismo, e não a implantação da república, poderia trazer verdadeiras soluções. Rosa, pelo contrário, solidarizava-se com o movimento e proclamava que o maximalismo retórico de Kautsky apenas reflectia a sua cobardia política. Lenine absteve-se de tomar posição a favor de Rosa; Trotsky foi mesmo mais longe, censurando à revolucionária

Casi simbólicamente, la corta vida de Rosa Luxemburg estuvo marcada por dos importantes revoluciones proletarias. Nació en 1871, pocos días antes del inicio de la Comuna de París. Fue asesinada en 1919, a los 47 años, pocos días después del fin de la "Comuna de Berlín". Hija de un matrimonio judío asimilado de clase media, residente en la parte rusa de Polonia, Rosa estuvo, a los quince años de edad, todavía estudiante secundaria, entre los que se indignaron por la ejecución de cuatro sentencias de muerte contra adversarios políticos del zarismo. Sus biógrafos creen probable que a esa altura ya estuviera militando en las filas del socialismo polaco. A los dieciocho años tuvo que huir a Suiza para no ser apresada por la policía rusa (la Ojrana). El exilio de Rosa en 1889 se destaca en principio por su extraordinaria precocidad. Se sitúa entre un primer viaje de exilios, al inicio de los años 80, y una segunda ola, en los años del cambio de siglo. La primera ola incluyó a los últimos grandes hombres del populismo y a los primeros del marxismo (Zasúlich, Plejánov, Axelrod), que en varios casos salieron de Rusia ya treintañeros. Después vino Rosa, escondida en una carroza de heno. Cuando empezó a llegar la ola siguiente, ella ya tenía casi una década de exilio en Zurich. En esa segunda ola venían los futuros protagonistas de la revolución bolchevique (Lenin, Kaménev, Zinóviev, el futuro bolchevique Trotsky), con una media de edades nítidamente inferior a los de la primera ola. Pero ninguno de ellos llegaba al extranjero tan joven como Rosa y, sobre todo, ninguno venía en circunstancias semejantes. Todos continuaban evolucionando en el microcosmos de la emigración rusa y mantenían vínculos con un movimiento socialista significativo en su país de origen. La joven revolucionaria, por el contrario, llegó aún adolescente, venía a completar su formación en un país extraño y todo lo que conservaba de polaco era un hábitat partidario de dimensión familiar. La escasez de lazos organizativos y de bagaje militante que traía de Polonia le permitió, por otro lado, convertirse en la más occidental de las personalidades provenientes del espacio eslavo. Inversamente, ella permanecería siempre, dentro del movimiento obrero alemán, como la única persona con verdadera sensibilidad hacia los fenómenos del mundo extraño que, cada vez más, se agitaba al Este.

In der üblichen Periodisierung der Weimarer Republik beginnt mit dem Jahr 1924 die Phase ihrer ‚relativen Stabilisierung‘. Nach der Überwindung der Hyperinflation 1923 ist dies meist wirtschafts- und sozialpolitisch gemeint, oft auch in Hinblick auf die Innenpolitik oder die Kunst und Kultur. Vernachlässigt wird dabei allzu oft, dass diese Stabilisierung vor allem zunächst sicherheitspolitischer Natur war. Die harten Anfeindungen von rechts und links gegen die Republik und die politische Gewalt ebbten merklich ab, die Republik hatte sich gegen ihre Feinde behauptet.
Das war nach Ausbruch der Revolution im November 1918 keinesfalls selbstverständlich. Der Zusammenbruch der alten Ordnung war noch relativ friedlich verlaufen. Auch hatte sich die Übergangsregierung schnell der Loyalität des Heeres und der anderen Sicherheitsbehörden versichert. Doch bald brachen auf linker Seite gewaltsame Auseinandersetzungen über die Richtung der Revolution aus, wie die Dezember- und Januarunruhen 1918/19 oder später auch der Ruhraufstand 1920 und der „Deutsche Oktober“ 1923 zeigten. Auch im rechten Spektrum war die Bereitschaft zum gewaltsamen Vorgehen gegen Revolution und Republik schnell geweckt. Neben rechtsradikalen Attentaten auf demokratische Politiker wie Erzberger, Scheidemann und Rathenau bildeten 1920 der Kapp-Lüttwitz- und 1923 der Hitler-Ludendorff-Putsch die Höhepunkte rechter Angriffe auf die Republik. Neben verschiedenen sezessionistischen Bestrebungen hatte die in der Revolution geborene Republik zudem mit einem drohenden Verlust des staatlichen Gewaltmonopols zu kämpfen: Freikorps verschiedener Couleur, auf Eigenständigkeit pochende Soldatenräte, Stadt- und Bürgerwehren, unkontrolliert zirkulierende Kriegswaffen, paramilitärische politische Verbände – all das waren erhebliche Herausforderungen für die Akteure des staatlichen Gewaltmonopols, das sich zudem gerade in der Transformation von einem obrigkeitsstaatlichen zu einem demokratischen Gewaltmonopol befand.
Vor dem Hintergrund dieser Herausforderungen ist die Konsolidierung des demokratischen Gewaltmonopols beachtlich. Die Konferenz fragt nach dem Wechselspiel zwischen gewaltsamer Anfeindung und Konsolidierung, aber auch danach, was diese gewaltsame Geburt der Republik für ihre politische Kultur bedeutete und wie diese Gewalterfahrungen verarbeitet wurden.

Il germe mutante della nuova società che incomincia a mettere radici in quella vecchia non può che far parte di un insieme temporaneamente isolato, persino non compreso. Quella volta che delegazioni del movimento operaio inglese e tedesco andarono da Marx ed Engels a porre sul tappeto le loro condizioni e le loro organizzazioni per fondare l'Internazionale, offrendo loro la direzione del nuovo organismo, essi rifiutarono. Uno scrive all'altro e dice: "Io e te, per rappresentare il movimento storico non abbiamo bisogno di altra delega che quella di noi stessi". Il passo è famoso, e questi signori sono allontanati. Erano dei lavativi, non si poteva avere a che fare con loro. È l'enunciazione di un metodo: il partito storico non è un ente quantitativo, può trovare la sua espressione materiale in pochi o tanti uomini, non importa. L'elemento quantitativo, formale, quello che ci fa parlare di "movimenti di massa", è una conseguenza. Ma occorrono quelle condizioni che noi abbiamo definito, prendendo a prestito il linguaggio della fisica, "polarizzazione sociale", come nei campi elettrici, nei solidi cristallini, nella ionizzazione di un gas. Il numero degli elettroni e degli atomi interessati non ha importanza per scatenare l'evento, ma è necessario che esso si produca per espandersi quantitativamente. La conquista della cosiddetta maggioranza viene dunque dopo il verificarsi delle condizioni iniziali di teoria, azione e ambiente. Possiamo sperimentare tutte le tattiche che vogliamo, purché nella nostra consegna rivoluzionaria non ci siano parole che possano suonare in contrasto, dispregio o anche semplice dimenticanza dei nostri principii. Perciò non volevamo che si ponesse la quistione della maggioranza come condizione. La "conquista della maggioranza" potrà anche verificarsi, ma non è un ponte per cui si debba passare obbligatoriamente prima che la rivoluzione abbia ionizzato le molecole sociali. Abbiamo fatto mille volte l'esempio russo: all'ultima riunione del Comitato Centrale del partito prima dell'insurrezione il gruppo dirigente si squaglia proprio mentre la polarizzazone sociale giunge al culmine. Lenin deve trattare tutti da traditori e riesce a far digerire il concetto: se passa questa ora tutto è perduto. Proclama l'azione da solo? No. In quel momento l'azione è proclamata da questo misterioso campo di forze, dall'irresistibile fisica della rivoluzione che sceglie in Lenin il proprio strumento. È il cervello sociale in moto. Ecco, vedete, a volte sembra che c'inventiamo dei termini, che distilliamo dalle nostre meningi nuove formule, mentre invece sono già anticipate in Marx

Die deutsche Revolution von 1918-1919: eine Geschichte von unten

Parmi les nombreuses commémorations auxquelles l’année 2018 donne lieu, il y a celle de la révolution allemande de 1918/19. Placée entre le bicentenaire de la naissance de Karl Marx, les 170 du Printemps des peuples et les 50 ans de mai 1968, elle semble être reléguée au second plan, même si elle a pu jouir d’une actualité éditoriale importante en Allemagne. Là où la plupart des ouvrages récemment publiés sur le sujet s’efforcent de donner une vue d’ensemble, souvent d’un point de vue surplombant visant à l’exhaustivité, la journée d’étude organisée à la date anniversaire de la double proclamation de la République à Berlin (9 novembre 1918) s’intéressera à la relation subjective de l’épisode révolutionnaire, que cette relation émane de souvenirs personnels, ou de constructions littéraires et artistiques. À partir de textes littéraires, d’œuvres artistiques, d’articles de presse, et d’égo-documents (relations, témoignages), elle interrogera le vécu personnel depuis le cœur même des événements mais également les reconstructions a posteriori au sein de cadres idéologiques différents, ainsi que les processus de sémantisation par la philosophie ou la littérature. Ainsi, à travers l’étude des différents récits et des modalités de (re-)configuration du vécu, nous tenterons d’écrire l’histoire d’en bas, de rendre visible le kaléidoscope des différentes expériences et d’en tirer une image de la révolution nécessairement lacunaire, contradictoire et multiple.

Diese Arbeitstagung, die zum hundertjährigen Jubiläum der doppelten Ausrufung der Republik in Berlin (9. November 1918) stattfindet, möchte sich mit Schilderungen des revolutionären Geschehens aus subjektiver Perspektive beschäftigen, seien es persönliche Erinnerungen oder literarische und künstlerische Werke. Damit unterscheidet sich die Tagung von vielen Neuerscheinungen zum Thema, die „von oben“ einen Überblick über die deutsche Revolution geben und auf Vollständigkeit angelegt sind. Ausgehend von literarischen Texten, künstlerischen Werken, Presseartikeln, Ego-Dokumenten (Berichte, Selbstzeugnisse) soll hier das persönliche Erleben inmitten der geschichtlichen Ereignisse oder aber in Rekonstruktionen Ex post untersucht werden sowie die Art und Weise, wie dieses Erlebnis in ästhetischen oder philosophischen Formen Ausdruck findet. Die Analyse verschiedener Erzählungen und (Re-)Konfigurationsformen des Erlebten soll einen Beitrag dazu leisten, eine Geschichte „von unten“ zu schreiben und das Kaleidoskop der einzelnen Erfahrungen sichtbar zu machen. Daraus soll ein Bild der Revolution entstehen, das notwendigerweise lückenhaft, widersprüchlich und vielfältig ist.
