Gagne's 9 event of instruction

This my demonstration teaching in pre-school applying Gagne's 9 Condition of Learning. It is quite effective. I made a simple workbook and sticker for each of them to enhance more their psychomotor skills and creativity. I found out that everybody is having fun during the activity.

The purpose of the study is to bring in the first part of diachronic conversation on instructional design with Robert Gagné and David Merrill to transcripts. This conversation was hosted by Utah State University, in the United States of America, in July 10, 1989. Throughout the history of instructional design, these two scientists are considered as the pioneers of the field and in these sessions, they summarize and compare their studies. In the first session, Gagné and Merrill represent their theories from their own perspectives.

The concept of Augmented Reality (AR) technology has paved a new innovation in modern teaching methods as a creative tool for blended learning. Although there has been a robust literatures on augmented reality, educators and other stakeholders are unaware of the AR benefits even reluctant to take up concrete steps towards integrating AR into teaching and learning settings. This attitude requires more efforts by researchers to shed light on the affordances and capabilities of AR in educating the new generation students in today's schools. Therefore, this paper attempts to highlight the pedagogical potentials of AR technology in conjunction with Gagné ISD Model (1998). Thus, the guidelines of instructional practices and the quality of student learning are revisited. This paper will contribute to the theoretical aspect of integrating AR in teaching and learning effectively and efficiently. Further, a proposed model for teachers to employ various pedagogical strategies while using the instructional model of Gagné's Nine Events in AR-supported learning process will be presented. The present paper will adopt the analytical approach based on meta analysis by reviewing journal articles on using AR in education from a variety of sources such as Web of Science, ESCI indexes, and SCI-EXPANDED. For this review, a number of 28 articles, conducted between 2013 and 2018, on the use of AR in educational context were examined and reviewed.

Capítulo VII del libro "El Diseño Instruccional. Elemento clave para la innovación en el Aprendizaje, Modelos y Enfoques"

El presente capítulo consta de dos partes. Para facilitar una comprensión profunda, la primera parte comienza con la recuperación del contexto socioeducativo en el que fue formulada la propuesta de Robert Gagné, que probablemente fue el modelo instruccional más destacado de su momento histórico, y cierra con la exposición de las influencias teóricas que la atraviesan: el Conductismo y el Cognoscitivismo, así como lo que actualmente conocemos como el enfoque del Aprendizaje Activo.

En la segunda parte exponemos cómo se incorporaron los 9 Eventos Instruccionales en un programa de reingeniería de cursos en línea, que se realizó en uno de los centros de la Universidad de Guadalajara para mostrar su adaptación e implementación a un contexto contemporáneo.

Concluimos con algunas reflexiones sobre los alcances y limitaciones del modelo que aconsejamos que los diseñadores instruccionales consideren para utilizar el modelo en propuestas innovadoras.

Pengaplikasian teknologi dalam pendidikan bukanlah lagi satu trend yang baru dalam pendidikan Malaysia. Malah menjadi keutamaan untuk dititikberatkan dalam proses pengajaran dan pembelajaran di sekolah dan institusi pendidikan. Hal ini berikutan kepentingan teknologi dalam meningkatkan pencapaian serta kepuasan pelajar dalam sesuatu subjek. Di samping itu, teknologi dipercayai berkeupayaan membantu menyelesaikan banyak masalah matematik serta dapat mengubah persepsi pelajar terhadap matematik yang dianggap sukar dan membosankan. Berikutan itu, penggunaan teknologi diadaptasikan dalam pembelajaran matematik bagi tajuk Kebarangkalian bagi mengatasi masalah kesilapan berkaitan istilah khas dan simbol yang kerap ditemui dalam pembelajaran tajuk Kebarangkalian di kalangan pelajar. Hal ini berikutan tajuk kebarangkalian tidak mempunyai kesinambungan tajuk daripada pembelajaran matematik di menengah rendah. Pengetahuan sedia ada yang dimiliki oleh pelajar tingkatan empat berkaitan tajuk Kebarangkalian pula hanyalah pecahan dan tatatanda set. Oleh sebab itu, laman web Matematik dibangunkan berasaskan Sembilan Aspek Pengajaran Gagne dan Teori Perlaziman Operan Skinner bagi tajuk Kebarangkalian menggunakan Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 dengan tambahan CourseBuilder Extension berserta Perisian Adobe Photoshop CS3 sebagai perisian sokongan yang digunakan bagi menggubah grafik. Pembangunan laman web dipilih berikutan web mempunyai ciri-ciri seperti mesra pengguna, fleksibel secara global, dapat diakses tanpa kekangan masa dan tempat serta mudah dari segi pemantauan.

The learning management systems (LMSs) are being increasingly used in distance education. However LMSs do not maintain any elements to guide educators to design and develop instruction. The purpose of this study is to design, develop and evaluate a LMS that guide facilitators when designing instructional modules for their online courses based on the Gagne's nine events. Using the revised development process model called “Waterfall Model”, the LMS was developed and evaluated. The users of the system found the developed LMS useful. Other instructional models can be integrated to LMS in following studies.

Komputer dan teknologi maklumat dipercayai berkeupayaan membantu menyelesaikan banyak masalah matematik serta dapat mengubah persepsi pelajar terhadap matematik yang dianggap sukar dan membosankan. Berikutan itu, penggunaan teknologi boleh diadaptasikan dalam pembelajaran matematik bagi tajuk Kebarangkalian dalam mengatasi masalah kesilapan berkaitan istilah khas dan simbol yang kerap ditemui dalam pembelajaran tajuk Kebarangkalian. Hal ini berikutan tajuk Kebarangkalian tidak mempunyai kesinambungan tajuk daripada pembelajaran matematik di menengah rendah. Pengetahuan sedia ada yang dimiliki oleh pelajar tingkatan empat berkaitan tajuk Kebarangkalian pula hanyalah pecahan dan tatatanda set. Oleh sebab itu, laman web matematik berasaskan sembilan aspek pengajaran Gagne bagi tajuk Kebarangkalian I dan II dibangunkan berpandukan model pembangunan V. Pembangunan laman web dipilih disebabkan oleh kesesuaian web sebagai alat untuk pengajaran dan pembelajaran dengan ciri-ciri seperti mesra pengguna, dapat diakses tanpa kekangan masa dan tempat serta mudah dari segi pemantauan. Laman web ini dibangunkan dengan sokongan pendekatan permainan berikutan permainan merupakan kaedah pengajaran dan pembelajaran yang efektif untuk semua peringkat umur dan boleh diaplikasikan dalam pelbagai situasi. Perisian utama dalam pembangunan laman web ini adalah Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 dengan tambahan CourseBuilder Extension. Perisian Adobe Photoshop CS3 merupakan perisian sokongan yang digunakan bagi menggubah grafik yang menjadi tunggak antaramuka laman web ini.

Gagne’s theory posits that learning is achieved through interaction of various internal and external factors. If so, the use of supportive technology to provide these factors’ interaction may increase expected performance, especially in theoretical courses, and place learning at a higher level. As supportive technology, gamification-based computer or mobile applications can be used in Gagne’s nine instructional steps. Therefore, 23 teacher candidates in the Department of Social Sciences Education evaluated the use of gamification-based interactive response system (IRS) tools with the scope of Gagne’s learning theory. For 3 weeks, teacher candidates were taught how to use Kahoot, Plickers, Socrative, Quizlet, and FlipQuiz tools in question-answer activities. Teacher candidates prepared materials or questions about predetermined topics for the IRS tools, and then chosen teacher candidates demonstrated to others how to use each tool. According to findings, Kahoot and Plickers can best be used in gaining attention, assessing performance, and enhancing retention and transfer, Socrative and Quizlet in gaining attention and presenting the content and FlipQuiz in gaining attention, providing learning guidance, and assessing performance. Also, teacher candidates determined some limitations of each tool. Finally, results were discussed and some recommendations for future research were stated at the end of the study.
