El reciente estreno de la serie Euphoria (Leshem, Levin y Yardeni, 2019) ha generado una multitud de reacciones al retratar en
un presente vertiginoso las vicisitudes de un grupo de jóvenes pertenecientes a la Generación Z -aquella integrada por los nacidos entre
1995 y 2010- que intentan devenir adultxs en un contexto tan apabullante como excluyente. El novedoso contenido de HBO presenta los
sentimientos de estxs adolescentes marcadxs por la ansiedad, la incertidumbre respecto al futuro, la soledad y el vacío, que se refuerzan
en el vínculo estrecho que mantienen con las redes sociales.
Lxs llamadxs nativxs digitales comparten el hecho de haber nacido
en una sociedad donde las tecnologías no solo condicionan su forma
de comunicación sino también lo referente a su constitución subjetiva.
La serie exhibe a sus personajes atravesadxs por una exaltación maníaca que no tarda en expresar su contracara depresiva. ¿Cómo podemos pensar estos acontecimientos? ¿Qué vínculos se constituyen entre estxs jóvenes? ¿Cómo influyen las tecnologías actuales? ¿De qué
forma las utilizan para la exploración de sus sexualidades? Es necesario
aclarar que no son la similitud de gustos o la predisposición a determinada afección lo que hacen a un grupo partícipe de una misma generación, sino las coincidencias nacidas del hecho de tener que tomar
posición ante ciertos hechos o acontecimientos que caracterizan o
marcan un tiempo (Carpintero y Lafuente, 2007).
Al comienzo de la trama, observamos el nacimiento de la protagonista, Rue, a pocos días del atentado a las Torres Gemelas, el 11 de
septiembre de 2001, hecho que contextualiza el complejo entramado
en el que transitan lxs personajes. A lo largo de los episodios, esta ficción va explorando las diversas problemáticas que atañen a cada uno
de lxs integrantes del grupo y cómo estxs alternan entre la euforia y el
desaliento. Nos centraremos aquí en los vínculos sexo-afectivos que
se presentan en dos ocasiones diferentes que sin embargo convergen
en la violencia de género. En primer lugar, abordaremos la relación
entre Nate y Maddy, marcada por la violencia verbal y física, y luego,
la situación que atraviesa Cassie en tanto las relaciones que sostiene
se ven dificultadas por el uso de la tecnología y el sexting.
Existen diferentes formas en las que se expresa la violencia, y consideramos de suma importancia poder detectar aquellas que están
naturalizadas, invisibilizadas u omitidas. Por este motivo, haremos un
recorrido a través de sus diversas manifestaciones con la intención
de visibilizar una problemática que nos convoca y para dar cuenta de
la relevancia que tiene la implementación de la Educación Sexual Integral en las escuelas, tanto en el ámbito privado como en el público y
en todos los niveles, tal como sanciona la Ley N° 26.150/2006.

В статье рассматриваются этапы операционализации понятия при разработке методики исследования эмоционального состояния, на примере состояния эйфории. В качестве операционального понятия представлено семантическое поле значений понятия эйфория. Операнты (значения) поля используются как признаки-индикаторы исследуемого теоретического конструкта в результатах методики. Использование семантического пространства эмоционального состояния как исходного определения позволяет операционализировать его как совокупность (синдром) признаков и повышает конструктную валидность методики.

FIVE YEARS AFTER THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED, IT IS A PLEASURE TO SEE THAT POSITIVE CHANGES TAKE PLACE AND THAT EUROPE IS COMING OF AGE. WE INCREASINGLY WITNESS THE RETURN OF CULTURAL GOODS AND, AS A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE, A SCHEME OF MAJOR EUROPEAN MUSEUMS BY WHICH BENIN WILL WILL ENJOY THE RIGHT TO ITS HERITAGE.

The English edition of the book “Eternity does not live here anymore – a glossary of museum sins” (Zagreb, 2012) is written in a rather self-ironic tone, relaxed and polemical in character and deliberately "naive," as I overtly claim in the Introduction. It is very much intentionally idealistic.

As with any criticism, it hurts mostly those whom it neither describes nor concerns and who certainly do not deserve it, and it enrages the others who recognize themselves in it. I was never very successful in gaining sympathies. It seems to have been, at the time of the publishing, the only book entirely dedicated to the critique of museums. 

It was always a difficult task to offer a theory that would be equally relevant to the West and the East to stand equally the challenges of desert storm and the tropical rain.

In the world of diversity and inequality this critical glossary for some will serve as a reminder of past mistakes, but for others it will be a warning upon the problems, mistakes and dilemma waiting for them.

In the meantime, the book was published in Spanish, Russian and Latvian language. I have made it available to all interested readers  ( https://www.mnemosophy.com/the-vault ) but academia.edu site is well frequented by the student population which remains my favourite audience.

So, I am offering the book in chapters as the readers would be able to deal with the reading more easily, deciding if the rest would interest them at all.

Neuroendocrine challenge studies are frequently used to study the pathophysiology of psychiatric illnesses and the effects of psychotropic drug treatment on brain monoamine function. Moclobemide, a reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase, with predominant effects on the A-type of the enzyme, was administered to 15 healthy men. Seven out of the 15 also received single blind placebo a week before the moclobemide. The individuals received moclobemide as a single dose (150 mg), followed by doses of 150 mg three times a day, during a 4-week period. Plasma prolactin was measured in the morning over a 150-min period, following the single dose, and then at the end of weeks 1, 2 and 4 of moclobemide intake. The present data show an acute and transitory increase of plasma prolactin levels after the single dose, and also during the long-term moclobemide administration. Рассматриваются возможности игровых механик в регуляции психических состояний, возникающих у учащегося в процессе обучающей игры. Даны рекомендации по преодолению проблемы фокусирования на игровом процессе.

Epidemiological studies report that people with mental health disorders have greater problems with their substance use (illicit, and/or prescribed) than the general population (Hall, Teeson, Lynskey, & Degenhardt, 2000). Etiological studies regarding comorbid substance use and mental health disorders give support to the 'alleviation of dysphoria' risk factor model (Mueser, Drake, & Wallach, 1998) since it has stronger supporting evidence than the 'self medication' model (Khantzian 1985; 1997). However, little comorbidity research has considered the eliciting of euphoria, a common factor for illicit substance use (Teeson & Proudfoot, 2003). This study explored the experiences and perceptions of dysphoria and euphoria conveyed by participants using illicit substances (cannabis, amphetamine-type stimulants, and/or heroin), as well as prescription medication for their diagnosed comorbid mental health disorders (adult AD/HD, Schizophrenic Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, and/or Mood/Affective Disorders). Data collection (via self-reports, interviews and weekly observations) aimed to find qualitative themes pertaining to three focal points: first, experiences of dysphoria and its alleviation via substance use; second, experiences of euphoria and its elicitation via substance use; third, experiences of both euphoria and dysphoria as either a homogenous 'continuum', or heterogenous risk factors requiring separate consideration. The findings supported the proposition that eliciting euphoria and alleviating dysphoria worked in a homogeneous etiological risk factor model, in connection with problems attributed to dependency and withdrawals (or ‘comedowns’).

Introduction Cannabinoids produce a spectrum of effects in humans including euphoria, cognitive impairments, psychotomimetic effects, and perceptual alterations. The extent to which dopaminergic systems contribute to the effects of Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-9-THC) remains unclear. This study evaluated whether pretreatment with a dopamine receptor antagonist altered the effects of Δ-9-THC in humans. Materials and methods In a 2-test-day double-blind study, 28 subjects including healthy subjects (n = 17) and frequent users of cannabis (n = 11) were administered active (0.057 mg/kg) or placebo oral haloperidol in random order followed 90 and 215 min later by fixed order intravenous administration of placebo (vehicle) and active (0.0286 mg/kg) Δ-9-THC, respectively. Results Consistent with previous reports, intravenous Δ-9-THC produced psychotomimetic effects, perceptual alterations, and subjective effects including “high.” Δ-9-THC also impaired verbal recall and attention. Haloperidol pretreatment did not reduce any of the behavioral effects of Δ-9-THC. Haloperidol worsened the immediate free and delayed free and cued recall deficits produced by Δ-9-THC. Haloperidol and Δ-9-THC worsened distractibility and vigilance. Neither drug impaired performance on a motor screening task, the Stockings of Cambridge task, or the delayed match to sample task. Frequent users had lower baseline plasma prolactin levels and blunted Δ-9-THC induced memory impairments. Conclusions The deleterious effects of haloperidol pretreatment on the cognitive effects of Δ-9-THC are consistent with the preclinical literature in suggesting crosstalk between DAergic and CBergic systems. However, it is unlikely that DA D2 receptor mechanisms play a major role in mediating the psychotomimetic and perceptual altering effects of Δ-9-THC. Further investigation is warranted to understand the basis of the psychotomimetic effects of Δ-9-THC and to better understand the crosstalk between DAergic and CBergic systems.

In a cross-section approach we investigated prescription practice in acute mania in 63 German, Swiss and Austrian hospitals between 1994 and 2004. Our data were gathered from a large drug safety program (AMSP) within which on two reference days each year all administered drugs are recorded. For the present study, all cases with a primary diagnosis of acute euphoric mania (n=1291) or mixed-state mania (n=143) were identified. Prescription rates from two periods, 1994 to 1999 and 2000 to 2004, were compared. In euphoric mania, prescription of lithium decreased by about one-fifth (43.3% to 34.5%, p<0.01), while prescription of anticonvulsants increased by one-half (from 40.0% to 60.7%, p<0.001). Administration of atypical antipsychotics more than doubled (18.5% to 43.9%, p<0.001), while use of typical antipsychotics decreased significantly (56.9% to 27.8%, p<0.001). Overall prescription rates of antipsychotics (79.6% vs. 81.6%) and antidepressants (14.0% vs. 15.5%) remained stable, while administration of tranquilizers increased significantly (26.3% to 34.3%, p<0.01). In mixed-state mania, similar trends over time to those seen in euphoric mania were observed for lithium (43.2% to 33.3%), anticonvulsants (50.0% to 69.7%, p<0.05) and tranquilizers (22.7% to 40.4%). Prescription rates of antipsychotics slightly increased (63.6% to 72.7%), while prescription of antidepressants slightly decreased (54.5% to 46.5%). Polypharmacy was a common phenomenon: patients with euphoric mania were treated with a mean number of 2.9+/-1.2 psychotropic agents, and patients with mixed-state mania with 3.3+/-1.5 psychotropic agents. Both groups showed a significant increase over time. Second-generation atypical antipsychotics were adopted quite rapidly for the treatment of acute mania considering the availability of the scientific evidence at that time. Off-label use was a common phenomenon. Deviations from recommended guidelines were found mainly in the use of antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs both in mixed-state and euphoric mania. Naturalistic prescription studies like this may encourage a critical scrutiny of clinical treatment habits and may also drive further research thus moderating potential differences between evidence-based knowledge and everyday clinical practice.

There have been many studies on the Voortrekker Centenary of 1938 and the unforeseen consequences it had, including the subsequent surge of Afrikaner nationalism and political developments. As the wagons moved across South Africa, the processions infused Afrikaners with pride in their heroic past. Afrikaner nationalism, the ideology that focused on protecting Afrikaner culture, the striving to regain an independent republic and, importantly, affirmation that they were God's chosen people, were rekindled. The event also generated a widespread sense of connection. It was not only Afrikaners who were swept up in the euphoria of the celebrations, but also many non-Afrikaners were emotionally affected by the event.

This article considers the perception of the beginning of the First World War in the minds of officers of the Russian army and the behavioral attitudes and moods formed in the period July-August, focused on anxious experiences and a sense of euphoria.
