The concept of "quality" is quite complex and challenging. In higher education, quality might be defined very differently by the various stakeholders: the students and graduates might see quality in terms of making sure they get well-paid jobs, the academics might define quality from the perspective of being able to enter in scientific debates, the ministries might define quality in terms of the efficient use of resources for reaching certain goals. But even when such issues of clarification of meanings are solved, what are the tools which work. And what does quality mean with respect to internationalisation? Sich abzeichnende Veränderungen in den Konsumstilen und in den Beziehungen zwischen Produktion und Konsum werden unter Verwendung empirischen Materials diskutiert. Es wird gezeigt, daß eine fortschreitende Kapitalisierung, Technisierung und Professionalisierung außerberuflicher Verhaltensbereiche dazu führt, daß sich die qualitativen Merkmale von beruflichen Tätigkeiten zum Gelderwerb einerseits und von Tätigkeiten im Zusammenhang mit der Verwendung von Einkommen andererseits einander annähern. Man kann einen Trend beobachten zu einer Konsumform, in der mehr und mehr Endgüter mit von der Industrie bereitgestellten Investitionsgütern von den Haushalten selbst erzeugt werden. Dadurch werden die beiden konventionellen Sammelbegriffe für Konsum: die Wiederherstellung von Arbeitskraft und sozialem Status sowie arbeitsfreie Zeit, in der die Früchte der Arbeit frei von technischen und ökonomischen Zwängen genossen werden, unbrauchbar. There is no doubt that the development of employment and wage in the metal industries 1933-1939 were decisive for the economic and political goals of the Nazi-Regime. The central issue was to integrate metal workers effectively, i.e. without major strikes and declines in productivity, into the whole economic process in order to secure an intensive armament production. How was this objective achieved? Was it possible to keep the purchasing power of workers low enough to achieve a redistribution of production capacities from consumer goods industries to war industries? It is the opinion of the author of this article that the development and application of wage-incentive-systems in combination with the restriction of a rise in the general level of wages was a major instrument in the attempts of the Nazi Regime to make labour in the war economy efficient. It is thus necessary to consider in addition to the general wage and employment situation the system by which wages were paid.

The consequential failures of breakeven in respect to business expectations in Northern Nigeria drive around the competent knowledge acquired by entrepreneurs. In this paper we make use of data from the official statistics to analyze transnational marriage among immigrants in Germany. Pooling all currently available Scientific Use Files of the German Microcensus between 1976 and 2004, we are able to contribute empirical findings that are unique in their scope and their degree of differentiation. We look at the five most common groups of former labour migrants and study group-specific trends over generations and time. Our empirical analysis is guided by four basic expectations, which are anchored in a more general theoretical framework of immigrants’ marriage behaviour. We find, as expected, large group differences in the propensity to select a spouse from one’s own country of origin. Assumed effects of the opportunity structure, however, can only be confirmed for women.
