Emery

Öz: Devletler için önemli ekonomik kaynaklardan biri olan madenler Osmanlı Devleti'nin ilk dönemlerinde savaş mühimmatı ve para basımı gibi işlerde kullanılırken 1800'lü yıllardan itibaren sanayi hammaddesi, enerji üretimi ve ihracatı yapılacak ürün olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Avrupa'da kıymeti çok daha erken dönemlerde anlaşılmış olan madenler, Osmanlı Devleti'nin sanayi konusunda Avrupa'dan geri kalması sebebiyle devletin tam manasıyla yararlanamadığı kaynaklar olmuştur. Sanayi Devrimi'ni yaşayan ve bu konuda atılım yapan batılı devletler, kendi madenlerinden olduğu gibi maden barındıran gelişmemiş ülkelerin kaynaklarından da faydalanmıştır. Zaman zaman da endüstrisi gelişmemiş devletler maden aranması konusunda yabancılardan yardım istemiştir. Amerikalı bilim adamı Dr. John Lawrence Smith'in 1840'lı yıllarda, Aydın Vilayeti'nde keşfettiği zımpara rezervlerinin ortaya çıkması da böyle olmuş, hükümetin talebi üzerine maden arayan Dr. Smith zımpara rezervlerini bulmuştur. Bu buluş Amerika'daki zımpara rezervlerinin bulunmasını da sağlamıştır. Aydın'da bulunan rezervler, dünya zımpara piyasası üzerinde de sarsıcı bir etki yaparak fiyatların ucuzlamasına etki etmiş, zımpara ihracatı üzerinde neredeyse tek olan-Yunanistan-Naxos Adası tekelini kırarak dünyanın en iyisi unvanını almıştır. Summary: The mines are one of the most important economic sources for the states. In the early periods of the Ottoman Empire, mines were used for war ammunition and money printing and from 1800s, used for industrial raw material, energy production and exportation. Due to the lagging of the Ottoman Empire from Europe in the industry, the mines were the sources that Ottoman Empire could not fully benefit from. The Western states, experiencing and making progress in the Industrial Revolution, have also benefited from the resources of the undeveloped countries that have mines as well as their own mines. From time to time, the underdeveloped states have requested help from foreigners for searching mines. Dr. John Lawrence Smith, an American scientist seeking mining at the request of the government, found emery reserves in the province of Aydın in the 1840s. This invention also provided the discover of emery reserves in the United States. The reserves in Aydın, became the best emery mine on world, made a shocking effect on the world emery market and broke the monopoly of Naxos Island(Greece) on emery exportation. Geniş bir coğrafyaya hâkim olan devletin neredeyse her yanı çeşitli madenler ile çevrili olmuş, maden bakımından zengin olan ülkede magnezyum, kömür, linyit, simli kurşun, altın, gümüş, zımpara, demir, bakır, krom, boksit vb. onlarca cevherin varlığı konuyu araştırmacılar açısından ilgi çekici kılmıştır. Bu yüzden uzun yıllar içinde madenlere dair onlarca çalışma yapılmıştır. Kendi konu çerçeveleri içinde oldukça değerli bilgiler sunan bu çalışmalar alana büyük katkı sağlamış

Self compacting concrete (SCC) is a flowing concrete mixture that is able to consolidate under its own weight. The highly fluid
nature of SCC makes it suitable for placing in difficult conditions and in sections with congested reinforcement. Knowing this, it
is implied that the industry can save many working hours by reducing the need for people vibrating the fresh concrete to compact it, when there is no need for compacting, the quality assurance of the vibrating as an uncertain factor, regarding the final results of the concrete. SCC generally has a higher powder content then Normal Vibrated Concrete (NVC) and thus it is necessary to replace some of the cement by cementitious material to achieve workable, durable and economical concrete. The benefit of using „Emery‟ as a supplementary material in SCC leads to many technical advantages. Mix design methods, tests, target properties and constituents materials were selected. The result shows that for constant filling ability of the SCC, replacement of cement requires an increase in water/powder ratio and a reduction in superplasticiser dosage. The project can lead to the use of Eamry in SCC, thus saving landfill and reduce CO2 emission by the use of less cement. An attempt has been made to study the behaviour of SCC with Emery as SCM and understands the effect of the mineral admixtures on fresh & hardened properties of SCC. The
paper has investigated the compatibility of above emery powders in SCC along with chemical admixture such as super
plasticizers. Result has indicative of enhancement in self compact ability & hardened strength of SCC by replacement of cement by emery.
