Teresa de Lauretis se pregunta en Género y teoría queer por qué se ha puesto, en los últimos años, el foco en la de identidad de género y no en la identidad sexual. Es importante entender la diferencia conceptual que propone y ahondar en esta tesis que puede servir como marco para el análisis literario. La tesis mencionada, remarca la necesidad de entender la identidad sexual como práctica cuyo potencial político es su propia legitimidad social. En un contexto mundial en el que Israel utiliza el pinkwashing, hacer política sexual de disidencia se torna un imperativo para desenmascarar la hipocresía y el moralismo. Naty Menstrual y Susy Shock son dos artistas argentinas trans cuya obra escrita está impregnada de la disidencia sexual como propuesta política. En sus escritos, ambas problematizan las identidades estables lgtbiq y reivindican el género y la orientación sexual como una construcción social con la que es posible jugar como herramienta de liberación. Esta propuesta no queda reducida la teoría sino que también reconoce la utilidad estratégica de las categorías. Utilizan la farsa de estas
identidades en las ocasiones requeridas pero no olvidan que son solo cajones manufacturados en los que encerrarlas.

Although scholars of Somali Studies have engaged themselves in examining the Somali society from several perspectives, colonial and early Somali writers mainly observed the Somali people as homogenous, egalitarian and nomadic pastoral. Themes on multi-ethnicity, multiculturalism, and linguistic diversity were ignored as topics that sully the myth of the selfsame ideology colorfully embroidered in the official historiography. The notion also deluded pioneering Somali scholars from critically studying their people and analyzing colonial writing; at least not beyond the western scholars' knowledge boundary. Accordingly, the Horn of Africa was exemplified as a unique African nation where citizens enjoy equality and share an all-in-one identity: culturally, ethnically, historically, and linguistically. Contrary to that notion, though, the everyday social situation makes the primordial ideology of selfsameness unsustainable. To establish the evidence, this essay discusses about how the Bantu Jareer agrarian community, a section among the different groups of subalterns in the country, views its environment and social space within the boundary of deeply offensive segregation by an extremely suppressive Somali society.

This short selection of forbidden, censored or harshly criticised stories by contemporary Arab writers of the "middle generation" represents in the best possible way not only the tradition of storytelling, but also the culture of rebellion and dissent that has long been part of Arab societies.
The stories were collected, selected and translated over a period of twelve years as the editor and translator Srpko Leštarić came across them, and are accompanied by masterful description about the fate of the authors, their texts, and the art of translating from Arabic.

Daniel Vukovich's  article focuses on the rise of a global "neo-liberalism with Chinese characteristics" and how we should understand this.  The author analyzes the "triumph" of  a particular liberal discourse and politics in China, as well as globally, since the post-Mao and late or residual Cold War era.  In response to the common,  erroneous equating of "liberal" with "democracy,"  Vukovich draws in part on Roberto Esposito, Dominic Lusordo, and the 'examples' of modern colonialism as well as recent Chinese politics to remind us that for all its universalistic and humane pretensions,  liberalism has historically been if not the very opposite of democracy (understood as mass rule and participation, the general will) then something quite different.  The historical articulations between liberalism and colonialism or  imperialism, let alone to an economic 'freedom' that obfuscates exploitation and class division, should forever give us pause.  Against the clear preference of many, Vukovich argues that there is no good reason this reservation should not apply to China either.  Moreover the rise of liberal and conservative  China discourse (about the recent Chinese past) reveals less the Truth finally coming to light than a political and discursive shift in how we frame the world, a shift that stems from the intellectual political culture of the modern colonial/imperial era. Depoliticized politics are the order of the day and can be seen in documents like the famous/infamous Charter 2008.

This paper explores the reappearance of the dissident in Russian contemporary literature following Putin’s rise to power, focussing in particular on how the country’s formerly highbrow dissident counterculture is now moving closer to the realm of popular culture. Tracing the link between the intelligentsia, literature, and dissent all the way up to the supposed death of all three phenomena in the post-collapse years, this article argues that a dissident revival is not only ongoing, but directly linked to Putin’s manipulation of historical consciousness and the nostalgia discourse in Russia. Using Boris Akunin, one of Russia’s most popular contemporary writers, as an example, this paper demonstrates how his activity as an author and a public figure has changed in reaction to Putin’s totalitarian turn in politics, resulting in an increasingly more pointed counter-narrative to the Kremlin’s hegemonic discourse on history. Through sketching Akunin’s artistic principles as a writer and addressing the importance of the nostalgia discourse for post-Soviet Russia’s identity struggles, this article will discuss how Akunin’s exploration of the intersection between popular culture and highbrow literature may be indicative of a modernisation of the entire Russian intelligentsia tradition and pointing towards the future of literary dissent in Russia.

Słownik dysydentów. Czołowe postacie ruchów opozycyjnych w krajach komunistycznych w latach 1956–1989 — to zestawienie 353 biogramów najwybitniejszych przedstawicieli opozycji demokratycznej z krajów Europy Środkowowschodniej. Biogramom towarzyszy bogaty materiał analityczny: omówienie podstawowych nurtów ruchu dysydenckiego w każdym z 24 państw reprezentowanych w Słowniku, kalendarium wydarzeń, noty poświęcone akcjom, manifestacjom, niezależnym wydawnictwom, periodykom, formom polityki represyjnej.

Publikacja jest niecodziennym, sporządzonym od wewnątrz, zapisem historii nonkonformizmu. Powstała dzięki wysiłkowi niezależnych badaczy ze wszystkich europejskich krajów byłego bloku sowieckiego. Przez ponad dziesięć lat pracowało nad nią kilkaset osób: historyków, dziennikarzy, tłumaczy i redaktorów.

Słownik składa się z dwóch obszernych woluminów (każdy liczy ponad 800 stron; tomy można kupować oddzielnie). Do tomu pierwszego weszły rozdziały: Albania, Bułgaria, Czechy, Słowacja, Bośnia i Hercegowina, Chorwacja, Macedonia, Serbia, Czarnogóra, Słowenia, Niemcy, Polska, Rumunia, Węgry.
