Central Eastern European Paleolithic

Područje općine Tešanj, kao i njena šira okolina, sjeverna Bosna, ima izuzetno bogatu prošlost doseljavanja i življenja. Tragove svog kretanja i zadržavanja na ovome prostoru ostavili su još paleolitski lovci i sakupljači, iz roda homo, čak i dosta prije dolaska Homo sapijensa, naših direktnih predaka u Europu. Paleolitska nalazišta općine Tešanj se mogu klasificirati u dvije osnovne skupine: evidentirana i potencijalna. Isto tako mogu se klasificirati na nalazišta na otvorenom i pećinska ili polupećinska nalazišta. U vrijeme pisanja teksta sve lokacije su nezaštićene i neoznačene i osim prvobitnog istraživanja vrlo su malo dalje istražene. Do sada je na teritoriji općine Tešanj evidentirano 5 arheoloških nalazišta iz paleolitskog doba. Prva dva su registrovana i u Arheološkom leksikonu BiH dok su ostali novijeg datuma. Kao što je potrebno ponovo istražiti već evidentirane lokalitete, tako je potrebno identifikovati i nove lokalitete, istražiti i datirati. Sudeći po rezultatima dobijenim istraživanjem, najbolja mjesta za traženje dobro očuvanih novih dokaza su vjerovatno na obodima plavnog područja, nižim riječnim terasama i podnožju sadašnjeg zaleđa36. Najveći broj nalazišta smješten je na istaknutim brežuljcima iznad dolina rijeka, većinom na ušćima manjih potoka ili rijeka u veće, sa dobrim dometom posmatranja i nadzora okoline, prosječne nadmorske visine od 100 do 300 m, koji pripadaju tzv. periglacijalnom prostoru. Сучасні науково-пошукові роботи в археології пов’язані з необхідністю перевірки даних різноманітними методами. До таких методів в археології кам’яного віку належить експериментальний.
Водночас у процесі науково-пошукової роботи виникає необхідність підготовки молодих науковців,
які здатні оволодівати новими методами обробки й інтерпретації археологічного матеріалу.
На базі кафедри археології та музеєзнавства Київського національного університету імені
Тараса Шевченка та Державного історико-культурного заповідника «Межибіж» за участю співробітників Інституту археології НАН України були створені експериментальні майданчики та експериментальна лабораторія з вивчення кам’яних виробів. Розроблена методика експериментальних
досліджень і створена електронна база даних з застосуванням новітніх технологій фіксації, обробки та візуалізацій матеріалу.
Впроваджується експериментальна програма з вивчення та реконструкції найдавніших технік розколювання каменю на стоянках нижнього палеоліту України.
У представленій статті подаються методологічні аспекти проведення експериментальної програми «Перші техніки та технології ранньої преісторії України».

Industrial variability within the Middle Paleolithic Micoquian complex of the Crimea is reflected in the
varied occurrence and frequencies of stone tools. Aside from bifacial shaping / thinning flakes and blades within the
debitage (items ≥ 3 cm), there are 5 chip types and their subdivisions (mostly items > 1.5–2.9 cm) reflecting differing
primary and secondary reduction strategies for Crimean Micoquian Tradition (CMT)assemblages. Detailed study of
such chips provides valuable insights into tool production, reshaping and rejuvenation. There is increasing intensity of
secondary treatment and re-treatment of flint, and associated activities from Ak-Kaya-genuine assemblages (ephemeral
killing / primary butchery stations) through Starosele assemblages (various short-term primary and/or secondary
butchery camps) to the Kiik-Koba assemblages (short-term primary and secondary butchery camps). The study confirms
that CMT variability reflects a spectrum of anthropogenic and natural influences rather than representing discrete
cultural traditions.

The article, based on the available geological, geomorphologic and archaeological data, highlighted of the potential scheme of events in the Siversky Donets River in the second half of the
Anthropogenic. It is shown that the upper horizon resulted from the catastrophic flow that occurred, according the age of archaeological finds, in the first half of the Achelian. The conclusions were the site relief has not changed significantly since the left slope of the valley of the Siversky Donets was formed.

The 30 years of research on Paleolithic sites of Bakshala river valley are described. The main results are presented in a short and explicit manner and the future directions for investigations are summed up. Among the mentioned sites are Anetivka II (Epigravettien), Anetivka I (Epi-aurignicien), Anetivka XIII (Early Upper Paleolithic) and others.

Lugansk micro-Paleolithic region has more than 40 sites of Middle and Lower Paleolithic in eastern
Ukraine with quartzite. Makarovo-1 – one of the earliest monuments of this microregion. Initial study of
this sita and technology of quartzite knapping is a subject of this work.

Paper considers the Paleolithic localities recently discovered by us in the east of Ukraine i
the Middle Current of Severski Donets, and which raw materials are mainly quartzites and sandstones. Brief technologica
and typological overview of studied sites is provided. The preliminary analysis allows to assume the Early Paleolithic Ag
for the majority of revealed localities.

The basic methodological aspect suggested in the paper is based on the cultural-historical approach and complex analysis of all available materials. Special stress is made on the comparative historical analysis of separate monuments, as well as the economic-cultural models typical of the society of hunters and food gatherers of the Upper Palaeolithic that inhabited the territory of present Ukraine. The research technique is based on the methods of theoretic generalisation, synthesis, and practical modelling.

SITE OF STONE AGE VISHNEVIY DOL

In this work the preliminary information about the Paleolithic site in territory of Lugansk area
Vishneviy Dol is submitted. Archaisms form of massive instruments, engineering of stone
processing and typological parallel allow to assume the Low Paleolithic dating of the found
subjects.
