Abstract
In 2013, according to National Public Radio, two-thirds of Americans had not heard of the Common Core State Standards Initiative (CCSSI). A year later, 80% knew about it, and 60% were opposed. The confluence between Big Business and Big Government support for CCSSI has fed growing opposition from parents and teachers across the political spectrum. While much debate concerns the standards’ contents, this paper focuses on the mendacity used to justify CCSSI and the cronies pushing it.

Supporters claim CCSSI is state-led, internationally benchmarked, and based on the latest research, but it is not. In July 2009, $4.35 billion in federal funding was made available to recession-shocked states through the Race to the Top program. States had to adopt CCSSI and join one of two approved testing consortia to participate. Before standards had even been written, 46 states and Washington, D.C. agreed to join. As of May 2014, only 26 states and D.C. remained in the program. Advocates say CCSSI is state-led and voluntary; critics say federal funding is bribery and intimidation.

Additionally, opponents worry about centralization and the collection of real-time data on students and teachers. Mandatory curriculum, textbooks, lesson plans, and Core-aligned tests remove teachers from heretofore-key elements of education. To many, the use of cameras and biofeedback devices on students to obtain fine-grained data is Orwellian. Critics fear such monitoring of classrooms will transform education from an art into an exercise in industrial-style Taylorism. We can do better.

On March 30 Germany declared the important Lebanese political group, Hezbollah, to be a “terrorist” organization and banned it from German soil. By doing so it gratuitously increased the tension in the eastern Mediterranean and exposed Berlin’s lack of credibility on the world stage.
Is it really in Germany’s interest to destabilize a region that has already been crippled by multiple wars? On the surface Germany doesn’t appear to have a stake in the politics of Lebanon. Indeed, from whatever angle the situation is viewed from, Germany qua Germany doesn’t have a meaningful stake in Lebanon. Yet Berlin is assaulting the sovereignty of this small Mediterranean nation that means no harm.

The authors conclude with a call for activists to fight for contraceptive safety, in the spirit of earlier challenges to implants, like Norplant.

I used to think that the Murdoch press supported the vaccines rollout because it wanted to support the Morrison Government. Now I am convinced that I got that one-hundred-and-eighty-degrees wrong. It isn't only the Murdoch press that is driving the push to vaccinate all, of course, but Murdoch's papers in Australia are preaching vaccination with megaphones. The politically agile Keith Rupert Murdoch, and his Australian media outlets, are surprising, emergent enablers of the Gates global vaccine revolution.

The case flows from an entrepreneurial perspective based on the effect that Warren Buffett had on Tim Johnston, a recent graduate from Florida State University. The case starts with Johnston's difficult background and his desire to learn more about Buffett's life. His entrepreneurship professor at Florida State, Scott Silver, taught a variety of principles and lessons about Buffett over the two years that Johnston earned a degree in Entrepreneurship and Finance. Silver, who became a close friend of Johnston, invited him to attend the 2016 Berkshire Hathaway Shareholder Meeting and listen to Warren Buffett. Together they learned a great deal about the company and Buffett. The case reviews Buffett's background including his pursuit of entrepreneurial ventures from his youth through adulthood. The case also reviews Buffett's values system, philanthropy, keys to success, and views on happiness. At the end of the case, Silver asks Johnston several questions about the effect that Warren Buffett had on Johnston's life.

In the last two decades especially, we have witnessed the rise of ‘celebrity’ forms of global humanitarianism and charity work, spearheaded by entertainment stars, billionaires, and activist NGOs (e.g. Bob Geldof, Bono, Angelina Jolie, Madonna, Bill Gates, George Soros, Save Darfur, Medeçins Sans Frontières). This book examines this new phenomenon, arguing that celebrity humanitarianism legitimates, and indeed promotes, neoliberal capitalism and global inequality.

Drawing on Slavoj Žižek’s work, the book argues how celebrity humanitarianism, far from being altruistic, is significantly contaminated and ideological: it is most often self-serving, helping to promote institutional aggrandizement and the celebrity ‘brand’; it advances consumerism and corporate capitalism, and rationalizes the very global inequality it seeks to redress; it is fundamentally depoliticizing, despite its pretensions to ‘activism’; and it contributes to a ‘postdemocratic’ political landscape, which appears outwardly open and consensual, but is in fact managed by unaccountable elites.

For over twenty years Bill Gates and his Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) have been vaccinating foremost children by the millions in remote areas of poor countries, mostly Africa and Asia. Most of their vaccination program had disastrous results, causing the very illness (polio, for example in India) and sterilizing young women (Kenya, with modified tetanus vaccines). Many of the children died. Many of the programs were carried out with the backing of the WHO and-yes-the UN Agency responsible for the Protection of Children, UNICEF. Most of these vaccination campaigns were implemented without the informed-consent of the children, parents, guardians or teachers, nor with the informed-consent, or with forged consent, of the respective government authorities. In the aftermath, The Gates Foundation was sued by governments around the world, Kenya, India, the Philippines-and more. Bill Gates has a strange image of himself. He sees himself as The Messiah who saves the world through vaccination-and through population reduction. Around the time, when the 2010 Rockefeller Report was issued, with its even more infamous "Lock Step" Scenario, precisely the scenario of which we are living the beginning right now, Bill Gates talked on a TED show in California, "Innovating to Zero" about the use of energy.

Born in Ravensburg in 1938, Klaus Schwab is a child of Adolf Hitler’s Germany, a police-state regime built on fear and violence, on brainwashing and control, on propaganda and lies, on industrialism and eugenics, on dehumanisation and “disinfection”, on a chilling and grandiose vision of a “new order” that would last a thousand years.

In 2007, the US Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) alarmingly admitted that between 1955–1963 over 98 million American children and pregnant women received one or more doses of a polio vaccine which was found to be contaminated with a cancer-causing monkey virus called Simian Vacuolating 40 (SV40).

In 1961, the virus was found to cause tumors in rodents (Eddy et al., 1961) The SV40 virus was also found in several types of tumors in humans, for instance mesotheliomas (rare tumors located in the lungs), brain, and bone tumors (Carbone et al., 1994; Jasani et al., 2001). More recently, SV40 has also been found to be associated with some types of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (Shivapurkar et al., 2002; Vilchez et al., 2002). 

SV40 was linked with mesothelioma after tumors developed in hamsters that were injected with SV40 into the lungs, heart and abdomen (Cicala et al., 1993). Mesotheliomas are rare cancers usually located in the lining of the lungs in humans and are believed to be associated with asbestos exposure. SV40 has been found in 47% to 83% of human mesothelioma tumors (Carbone, 1999). In addition, reports have documented an association between SV40 and brain and bone tumors (Jasani, 2001). Two recent studies also found an association between SV40 and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (Shivapurkar et al., 2002; Vilchez et al., 2002). These studies identified the virus in 42 to 43 percent of non-Hodgkin's tumors, while finding no SV40 in tissue from healthy study volunteers.

The CDC and the industry claim that the SV40 virus was removed from all polio vaccines after 1963. However, recent published studies as well as legal documents from a court case filed against the manufacturer of the vaccine (Lederle) reveal that SV40 was not removed from the oral polio vaccines after 1963. Over 600 million doses of the oral polio vaccines were manufactured and sold by Lederle around the globe between 1963-2000.

Moreover, In 2000 the CDC banned the sale and use of the OPV in the US because it was found to cause both  vaccine-derived polioviruses (VDPVs)  and vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis (VAPP). A paper published in 2004 by prominent and eminent vaccine researcher and author Neil Z. Miller [11] reveals that: “ In 1992, the US Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) published an admission that the live polio virus vaccine (OPV) had become the dominant cause of polio in the United States. In fact, according to CDC figures, every case of polio in the U.S. since 1979 was caused by the oral polio vaccine. As far back as 1976, "Dr. Jonas Salk, creator of the killed-virus polio vaccine (IPV) used in the 1950s, testified that the live-virus polio vaccine (used almost exclusively in the U.S. from the early 1960s to 2000) was the ‘principal if not sole cause’ of all reported polio cases in the U.S. Since 1961.” 

Scientific evidence also reveals a causal link between the mass DDT spraying campaigns and the epidemic of poliomyelitis paralysis in the US from 1946-1955.

In spite of the documented historical and scientific evidence on the extreme toxicity, human health hazards and inefficacy of the polio vaccines, Bill Gates et al., the CDC, the WHO, UNICEF and Rotary International have embarked on a global crusade to vaccinate every child under 5 around the globe with the oral polio vaccine.

While Bill Gates has positioned himself at the fore of many global public health initiatives, we should remain cautious of the capitalist philanthropy he pursues in his efforts to force through mandatory vaccinations into the global health system. Bill Gates’ capitalist philanthropy, private interests in pharmaceutical companies, proximity to key public and global healthcare initiatives, and the urge to fuse vaccines with digital identification makes many people in the world apprehensive about Gates role.

Global institutions such as the WHO should step to the fore a lead a COVID-19 Global Alliance to tackle the pandemic. Pan continental Organisations, nation states and all sectors should look for a permanent solution the pandemic with an acknowledgment and realization that an isolationist solution to the pandemic will not be sustainable. In pursuit of these solutions, we should pay particular attention to Cuba’s pharmaceutical capacity and appreciate that the capitalist logic will not help in finding a permanent solution.

Between 1962 and 1966, the USSR pioneered a freeze-drying technique for smallpox vaccine and provided 450 million doses of vaccine to support global smallpox eradication campaigns in developing countries, while the US provided key financial support, as a result, “such international collaborative efforts led to the global eradication of smallpox by the late 1970s. The US and USSR were bitter Cold War rivals yet they collaborated to defeat smallpox, and they had previously collaborated to defeat the polio pandemic.

Whilst the world was able to collaboratively and decisively contain smallpox and polio during the cold war, it failed dismally to suppress the influenza pandemic, which happened during World War 1 in 1918. Due to the suppression of open and honest reporting about the extent of the influenza pandemic, which was called the Spanish flu because the Spanish media widely reported about the pandemic whilst other countries suppressed the flow of information due to the war hostilities, between 50 and 100 million lives were lost to the influenza pandemic.

The emergence of a global pandemic has demonstrated that we need to build a progressive and egalitarian world based on principles of humanity and all national progressive forces should fight for access to quality healthcare. The post COVID-19 world necessarily has to be different from the pre COVID-19 world. Instead of folding arms decrying and conspiring about what the world mega-billionaires and capitalist philanthropists intend to do out of this pandemic, we carry an obligation to provide cogent alternatives on what is to be done.

A significant number of people in many parts of the world are rightfully apprehensive of solutions that will be provided by capitalist philanthropists, hence the call for a globally coordinated solution represents superior logic. Amidst the many voices on what the solutions should be, progressive forces in all parts of the world should fight for universal access to quality healthcare with an appreciation that such access must also entail access to quality water, human settlements, sanitation, nutrition and education. Perhaps these are the most important components of what the global health system needs because it is after all correct that mankind must first of all eat, drink, have shelter and clothing, before it can pursue politics, science, art, religion, etc.

By the end of 2020 more people will have died from hunger, despair and suicide than from the corona disease. We, the world, is facing a famine-pandemic of biblical proportions. This real pandemic will overtake the "COVID-19 pandemic" by a long shot. The hunger pandemic reminds of the movie the Hunger Games, as it is premised on similar circumstances of a dominant few commanding who can eat and who will die-by competition.

Pour y travailler, nous avons embauché des lauréat du prix Fields-équivalent du Nobel dans les mathématiques-et de grands théoriciens des mathématiques. C'est un tout petit groupe-juste 4 ou 5 personnes-mais ce qu'ils font est fascinant. Pour ce qui est des recherches qui ont davantage de chances de se concrétiser, nous avons un groupe qui travaille sur le graphisme. Nous avons pu attirer dans cette équipe de nombreux jeunes talents qui étaient en train de se faire un nom comm James Cudgey (vérifier orthographe auprès de Microsoft), Abee Ray Smith (idem). A l'heure actuelle, les images numériques qui arrivent sur un appareil tel que le téléviseur sont des ensembles de points. Notre ambition serait de transmettre des « images descriptives » qui indiqueraient dans le détail ce que comporte une image. Au final, le spectateur pourrait examiner une scène selon divers angles, changer l'aspect du décor. S'il n'aime pas la tête du personnage d'un film, il pourrait la remplacer par le visage d'un acteur qu'il aime bien. Il pourrait même choisir de devenir le héros de la série. Nos chercheurs ont des idées plutôt grandioses sur ce thème. Une autre zone de recherche importante est la compréhension du langage naturel. Si l'on se contente d'analyser la forme des ondes sonores de la voix, il n'est pas possible de discerner ce qu'une personne a voulu dire. En fait, pour comprendre de quoi quelqu'un parle, il est nécessaire de connaître le contexte de sa conversation. Si un ordinateur se contente d'analyser les sons, il ne peut donc jamais atteindre une précision suffisante-le niveau de précision que les gens seraient en droit d'exiger. Pour y parvenir, il faudrait pouvoir lui donner un « modèle » du contexte de la discussion, un modèle qui indiquerait le sens des mots selon ce contexte particulier. C'est le premier projet que nous ayons démarré { Microsoft Labs, et c'est aujourd'hui le plus ambitieux. Nous avons un autre projet... je ne sais pas si je vous en dis trop (rires)... qui se trouve sous la supervision de Charles Simonyi, un employé de longue date chez Microsoft. This chapter focuses on the philanthropy of celebrity corporate billionaires, Bill Gates and George Soros. I argue that Gates and Soros’s engagements to ‘save the world’ are premised on the prior accumulation of personal fortune in questionable, if not unsavoury, ways. Gates’s enormous wealth derives from the privatization of the knowledge commons, while Soros’s derives from ruthless financial speculation. Both billionaires have used this wealth to give away spectacular sums of money to charity, thus becoming some of the ‘greatest humanitarians’ in history. But that each gives with one hand all the while having taken with the other is an attempt to produce what I will call, drawing on Slavoj Žižek, ‘decaf capitalism’. Both billionaires balance out their ruthless profit-making with charity work, thus deploying a capitalism with a human face  —  a system that exploits but still cares, wreaks social havoc but really worries, institutes a wild-west entrepreneurialism but also a welfare state.

Die "Coronakrise" lässt sich nicht mehr so einfach fortschleppen. Sie hat als Vorwand ausgedient, elegant den dauerhaften Abbau des demokratischen Rechtsstaates voranzutreiben. Die Bevölkerung ist hellhörig geworden. Zumal sie "Erleichterungen" auch noch als milde Gaben ihrer sie gängelnden Politiker dankbar und auf Knien rutschend hinnehmen soll. Wenn der Deutsche Bundestag nicht endgültig als Karnevalstruppe in die Geschichte der Fassadendemokratie eingehen will, dann ist es jetzt an der Zeit Farbe zu bekennen. Jeder Leser sei motiviert, seine eigenen Zweifel und Fragen an die betreffenden Volksvertreter zu richten-egal ob auf Bundes-, Landes-oder kommunaler Ebene. Politiker benötigen deutliche Signale und diese Signale müssen so langsam aus anderer Richtung kommen. Wir müssen uns echte Demokratie schon aktiv selbst zurückerobern. Schlagen wir uns aus dem Kopf, dass diese uns im Stile einer noblen Geste irgendwann einfach wieder zurückgegeben wird. In this paper, we have proposed a new design technique of BCD Adder using newly constructed reversible gates are based on NMOS with pass transistor gates, where the conventional reversible gates are based on CMOS with transmission gates. The article explores one of the most popular conspiracy theories of 2020 —
“Coronavirus and quarantine were introduced in order to install 5G towers and
force humanity to be vaccinated”. Conspiracy theory — a model of manipulative
communication, designed to deny the prevailing view of a particular phenomenon,
process or figure. The nature of the emergence and spread of conspiracy concepts
in modern mass communication discourse is shown. In particular, the connection
between conspiracy theory and cognitive dissonance, information invasion
and propaganda has been established. One of the most active and determined
adherents of this conspiracy is the American blogger, media consultant, former
journalist Olena Nikitska. On the example of hers conspiracy videos on her
YouTube channel, the key arguments of the aforementioned conspiracy theory
are shown, as well as manipulative techniques for its announcement. In this
video, the position of the conspiracy theorist is based on three statements:
1) There are not so many patients with Covid-19, and the statistics are greatly
overestimated. 2) 5G towers are harmful, and this is proven by experts. 3) Those
who will not be vaccinated will be severely restricted. Among such techniques,
the author analyzed: cutting a multimedia message in the right place, shifting
emphasis in discourse, categorically stating assumptions, whipping up irrational
(religious) fear. In the conclusions was shown leveling of the status of the expert
and fast trust of masses to any, even the most bizarre, interpretations are the main
communicative trends of today

Uno spettro si aggira per l'Italia: l'inflazione. Arrivano i primi rincari sui prezzi del carrello della spesa, ma l'impatto peggiore sarà sulle bollette energetiche. Le Banche centrali rassicurano: «Sarà un effetto temporaneo». E Bill Gates parla di «premio verde». Se le cause di lungo periodo dell'inflazione che già vediamo sono legate alla politica monetaria espansiva e quelle di breve ai lockdown (che ha disarticolato la catena produttiva), la causa specifica di questi rincari è la transizione verde. La nuova politica ecologista di cui Bill Gates è uno dei principali profeti. Mentre si prospettano sensibili rialzi delle bollette energetiche, la macchina mondiale della propaganda accelera sulla «pandemia climatica»: non siamo ancora usciti dalla psicosi collettiva della supposta crisi sanitaria globale, che già media e governi hanno inaugurato la seconda fase, quella della pretesa incombente catastrofe ambientale. Lo stato di eccezione deve proseguire.

Uno spettro si aggira per l’Europa: l’inflazione. L’impatto peggiore è sulle bollette energetiche ma le tensioni si stanno scaricando, com’è inevitabile, anche sui prezzi al distributore e sul carrello della spesa. La Banca centrale europea continua a rassicurare, dicendo che si tratta di «effetti temporanei», o comunque non preoccupanti. Nel mentre, Bill Gates parla di «premio verde».
Negli ultimi mesi, il tasso annuo di inflazione è balzato oltre il 6% negli Usa, sui massimi da trent’anni, ed oltre il 4% nell’area euro, sui massimi dal 2008. Ma perché salgono i prezzi, a partire da quelli energetici? Le motivazioni sono molte.

Tra le cause remote, le politiche monetarie ultra-espansive delle Banche centrali che da oltre dieci anni inondano i mercati di liquidità creata ex-nihilo – in ulteriore fortissima accelerazione post-CoViD –, mantenendo compressi i tassi nominali di rendimento dei titoli governativi e perseguendo con accanimento il rialzo dell’inflazione, in modo da “svalutare” nel tempo, in termini reali, i debiti pubblici e privati fuori controllo.

Tra le cause prossime, le politiche fiscali espansive attuate dai governi per fronteggiare la crisi economica indotta dai lockdown generalizzati, che hanno provocato anche la cosiddetta supply-chain disruption, ovvero la frammentazione delle filiere produttive e distributive, con sensibili restrizioni e strozzature lato offerta, anche sulle forniture energetiche, con ovvie conseguenze sui prezzi: squilibri esacerbati dal contestuale incremento della domanda, artificialmente spinta dalle politiche monetarie e fiscali fortemente espansive oltre che dalla ripartenza delle economie dopo trimestri di sostanziale blocco.

A queste cause generali, valide pressoché ovunque nel mondo, si aggiungono in Europa delle motivazioni specifiche legate alle scelte di politica energetica degli anni passati, con investimenti insufficienti e senza adeguata diversificazione dei fornitori e delle fonti energetiche stesse.

With two such influential people as Gates and Yunus focusing on innovation, capital-driven change-making and the world economy, there is nothing to stop the social business model from snowballing into a worldwide movement, which can indeed eliminate poverty. That Davos, the meeting place of the truly wealthy and powerful, should now come to include themes that were often spoken of at Porto Alegre and conferences, populated more by NGOs than executives means that the war has indeed been won.

This is the fourth in a seven-part, multi-week series of commentary on the COVID-19 crisis entitled "What is to be Done? A Manifesto for Politics Amid the Pandemic and Beyond."

The pandemic is revealing the racist foundations of the liberal and neoliberal capitalist West. Will they be dismantled? It is a real possibility. The present crisis is no ordinary recurring recession. It represents the comprehensive exhaustion of neoliberal capitalism. The pandemic merely accelerated the long-overdue reckoning. Since no other type of capitalism is possible—and has not been since the late nineteenth century—it is a crisis of capitalism per se. Necessarily multi-faceted, it can and will throw up powerful new forces demanding change practically overnight. However, to give effective battle, the left that seeks to organise these forces must know itself, its resources and the limitations it must overcome. It must also know the resources, strategies and aims of the right and the capitalist classes. “Know your enemy”, said Sun Tzu in The Art of War.

That, today, also involves knowing the enemy’s contradictions. Great as the resources of capitalist and right forces are, and long as their experience in permanent counterrevolution is, what they want and need–to launch a new phase of neoliberalism –is almost certainly unobtainable. Given that, the left must prepare to deal with the sheer destruction their efforts will wreak. It must prepare to carry society out of it and place it on a radically different, preferably, socialist and anti-imperialist foundation, one that is ecologically sustainable and geared towards gender and race equality. This is the responsibility of the left today.

Some economists, such as Robert E. Lucas, Jr. say that the real effect of the Industrial Revolution was that "for the first time in history, the living standards of the masses of ordinary people have begun to undergo sustained growth ... Nothing remotely like this economic behaviour is mentioned by the classical economists, even as a theoretical possibility.
