C'è una seconda trincea nella grande guerra, quella del fronte interno, la cui vicenda si può ricostruire soltanto adottando metodi tipici della storia sociale, in particolare di quel settore della storia sociale che riguarda l'alimentazione.

I tre brani pubblicati nel 1914 da Webern rispecchiano una mentalità e capacità musicale in grado di realizzare in un breve lasso di tempo delle immagini, dei timbri e dei gesti oltre la singola notazione, permettendo un sinuoso gioco dinamico e armonico. È qui brevemente analizzato il terzo brano dell'Op.11, tenendo conto del contesto(ovvero gli altri due brani) in cui è inserito.

This article considers the perception of the beginning of the First World War in the minds of officers of the Russian army and the behavioral attitudes and moods formed in the period July-August, focused on anxious experiences and a sense of euphoria.

THE FIRST VICTIM AMONG THE GENERALS OF THE AUSTRO-HUNGARIAN MONARCHY
The death of Lieutenant General Ernő Froreich-Szabó
(Abstract)
The death of Lieutenant General Ernő Froreich-Szabó on 18 August 1914 – considering
the mysterious circumstances – was talked about by the public for a long time. Although
the case was investigated on a higher military level, the results did not gain as much
publicity neither in the wider public nor even within the army to the able to overwrite the
theory of suicide.
In 1924 the periodical Az Újság (The Newspaper) gave the following summary on
Lieutenant General Froreich’s death: “News about him was for a long time that he had
committed suicide. Another version said his own Hussars had shot him. Others claimed
that somebody from the enemy inhabitants had shot him”. Theories about his death were
born and spread by word of mouth without knowing the exact facts. The incident was
further escalated by the unsuccessful distant reconnaissance operation and the losses of
the Hungarian Royal Fifth Honvéd Cavalry Division. The cause-and-effect relation is
self-evident, or it isn’t?
The connection is unquestionable, but not in the way it was talked about at the time.
The author, using contemporary official documents, reminiscences and other sources,
shows that picture is much more complex.

The German state had shown little interest in the new medium film until the outbreak of the war. This changed during the war.  Initially, the military administration only intervened restrictively in the interests of the film industry by temporarily closing cinemas, censorship, import bans and restrictions on filming at the front. There was no active influence on film themes and programming. Film producers and cinema owners adapted themselves to the changing needs of their audiences and often took national and political positions with patriotic dramas and war programmes.
