Introduction Plantar fibromatosis is a rare hyperproliferative disease of plantar aponeurosis and is also called Ledderhose disease. Case properties and treatment are discussed in this report. Case Report A 30-year-old man presented with painful bilateral plantar nodules. He had multiple and bilateral fixed and solid nodules on the plantar and medial side of his feet measuring 1 cm each. Ultrasound was performed and hypoechoic homogeneous nodules were detected. The patient underwent surgery, and the nodes were removed via a plantar incision with 2-cm safety distance. Discussion Ledderhose disease is a rare, hyperproliferative disorder of the plantar aponeurosis. The nodules are slow growing and found in the medial part of the plantar fascia. The precise etiology remains unknown. The treatment options are conservative management, steroid injections, radiotherapy, and surgery. Conclusion The main cause of this disease remains uncertain. Related conditions should be evaluated, and a pa...

Clinical, histological and therapeutic modern approach of Ledderhose disease2018 •
Ledderhose disease or plantar fibromatosis is a rare hyperproliferative disorder of the plantar aponeurosis, clinically characterized by nodules situated especially on the medial border of the foot. It is histopathologically associated with Dupuytren's disease. This disease has some risk factors, like old age, alcohol or nicotine abuse, liver dysfunction, trauma or exposure to vibrations and autoimmune disorders, but the exact etiology is still unknown. Even though it is benign, the local manifestations can be aggressive, leading to debilitating deformities and contractures of the toes. Ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging are used to confirm the diagnosis and to eliminate other disorders. Whenever is possible, the conservative therapies are recommended. Having a high recurrence, Ledderhose disease can be hard to treat, needing multiple surgical interventions. This paper aims to cover all the important aspects of this disease for daily medical practice, from history to clin...

Multiple nodules on the sole of the footLedderhose disease, or plantar fibromatosis, is a benign hyperproliferative disorder of the plantar aponeurosis. It presents as one or more round, firm slow-growing plaques or nodules on the plantar surface of the foot, typically on the medial side. The etiology is unknown, though it has been associated with trauma, liver disease, diabetes mellitus, epilepsy and alcoholism. Histopathological examination of plantar fibromatosis reveals dense fibrocellular tissue with parallel and nodular arrays of fibrocytes and fibrillar collagen with a distinctive cork-screw morphology. The differential diagnosis includes various fibroblastic and myofibroblastic proliferations.

Unusual Intranodular Collagenase Injection: A Case of Bilateral Ledderhose Disease2020 •
Summary: Ledderhose disease (LD) is a rare plantar fibromatosis of the foot, frequently associated with Dupuytren disease. Collagenase of Clostridium hystoliticum has recently revolutionized the way to treat Dupuytren disease. Nevertheless, the literature is still critically lacking about the use of collagenase injection in LD. We report a case of a man with bilateral symptomatic LD treated with collagenase. Injections (0.58 mg of collagenase of C. hystoliticum) were performed into nodules. Forced extension after injection was not performed. The patient could walk normally immediately after procedure. The procedure was a complete success without side effects or complications on either foot. Currently, at 14 months after treatment of the right foot and 12 months after treatment of the left foot, no recurrence has been observed. Collagenase injection was only effective in treating symptomatic LD in this one patient we reported on.

Classification and treatment of plantar fibromatosis2000 •
A retrospective study of 18 patients (23 feet) with plantar fibromatosis who required surgical excision between January, 1991, and June, 1998, was performed. Subtotal plantar fasciectomy was performed to remove the tumor with a wide disease-free margin. 16 patients (21 feet) were interviewed and 14 patients (19 feet) were examined with an average followup of 36 months. Two patients (2 feet) with less than 12 months followup were excluded. Both subjective and objective evaluations and pre- and postoperative x-rays were reviewed to assess the alignment of the bony arch. There were nine males and nine females, age 49 years, average, at the time of diagnosis. Sixty-seven percent of patients had bilateral disease, and 28% had associated Dupuytren's contracture. There were 18 primary and five recurrent tumors. An operative staging system, I to IV, for plantar fibromatosis is presented which incorporates the extent of plantar fascia involvement, the presence of skin adherence, and the ...

RÂNDUIELILE LITURGICE PENTRU CATEHUMENI (Liturgical rites for catechumens)2023 •
In the 3 rd-5 th centuries, preparation for baptism involved theoretical and practical instruction for catechumens, which lasted two to three years, becoming more intense in the last weeks before baptism. From the 6th century onwards, also because of the spread of infant and child baptism, this rule weakens considerably and disappears almost completely. A little-studied aspect is that the whole process of catechesis involved the participation of catechumens in certain services and the prayer of the faithful for them. The Church, in its conservative spirit, has preserved certain litanies and prayers for catechumens, which are said even in monastic environments where there are no catechumens. However, there are also communities where prebaptismal catechesis is carried out, especially for adult catechumens, and where prayers for them are said when they are present at the liturgical celebration and are suppressed in their absence-an idea which corresponds to the original meaning of these liturgical texts.
Slides and text from a talk presented to The Egyptian Society of South Africa (TESSA), March 2024. Archaeo-anthropology suggests a long tradition of shamanistic beliefs among Eurasia's ancient Hunter cultures, from pre-Ice Age times. Continuity of ideas through the Mesolithic and into the Neolithic (agricultural revolution) periods is evident, as is their spread. Comparisons are made with burial items, symbols and funerary rituals of Ancient Egypt, which, it is proposed, had inherited and preserved these ancient traditions.
