The horse cult is considered to be one of the most
ancient cults, so the horse became one of the first
symbols in the history of mankind. The article highlights
the views related to the cult of the horse in the daily and
ritual life of Uzbeks. On the basis of archaeological and
written sources, the views and various symbols associated
with the horse contained in the "Avesta", the sacred book
of Zoroastrians are analyzed. Ancient Turks endowed
the horse with divine power, considering it the smartest
creature that was able to speak and fly. That is why
the horse, which occupies an important place in the daily
and economic life of the Turks, was elevated to the level
of cult through sacralization.
At all times, the Turkic peoples revered the horse as a
sacred creature, recognizing its important role in everyday
and ritual life. Thanks to their natural qualities, especially
their loyalty to man, horses continue to occupy a special
place in the traditional culture of the Uzbek people.
Turning to oral folk art, the author has scientifically studied
mythological beliefs and toponyms that emerged as a result
of the sacralization of the horse. At the same time, relying
on ethnographic material, it is confirmed that the funeral rite
“davra solish” (literally “dump in a circle”) is an ethnolocal
tradition associated with the cult of the horse.

This article examines the changes in religious policy, Islamic beliefs, religious life, national values, and family rituals in Uzbekistan during the years of independence. Particularly, it analyses a series of fatwas,
guidelines, and theses on Friday prayer topics published by the Office of Muslims of Uzbekistan in recent years. The author substantiates the amalgamation of religious and national perspectives in Uzbek family rituals, encompassing childbirth, marriage, and mourning ceremonies, drawing on ethnographic materials such as interviews, surveys, and
observations. Furthermore, it delves into the views of Islamic scholars and imams concerning the reduction of specific expenses and extravagances in these rituals. Examples from Friday prayers and various social networks are cited to support this discussion.  Through anthropological observations of modern
Uzbek society, including Muslims’ public activities, Friday prayers, neighbourhoods, and community events, as well as through various TV talk shows and radio broadcasts, the article explores «Aqiqa» ceremonies, circumcision weddings, marriages, and mourning rituals conducted by Uzbek imams.  in matters of family and marriage. The author highlights. the discussions of «Amru Ma’ruf» topics during ceremonies, which are widely debated on mosque websites, imams’ pages, and social media platforms (Telegram, Facebook, Instagram). The article underscores the impact of Islamic scholars’  and imams’ ongoing efforts, noting changes in the balance  of expenses in the ceremonial life of the Uzbek people.  This shift is particularly evident in marriage ceremonies, where there is a noticeable reduction in certain expenses. Moreover, it analyses changes and transformative processes in Uzbek family rituals from the perspective of ritual economy, examining how economic factors influence the conduct of these ceremonies.

This paper focuses on a religious ritual called jahr practised by the mountain Tajik community in southern Uzbekistan in former Soviet Union. Jahr is a type of folk medicine, or folk belief, that performs zikr (especially vocal zikr, dhikr in Arabic), which plays a very important role in Sufism (Islamic mysticism), and uses the effects of the ritual to treat illness. On the one hand, as a rule, the healers of the jahr ritual in this region are all Tajik men known as soʿfis (ṣūfī in Arabic, Islamic mystics). On the other hand, the patients are not only local Tajiks but also former nomadic Uzbeks such as the Qoʿngʿirot, Turk, and other nomadic tribes who live in the surrounding village. By focusing on this religious ritual with the abovementioned characteristics, this paper clarifies one aspect of Sufism in the region and, simultaneously, examines the coexistence of the Tajiks and the former nomadic Uzbeks. The existing literature on the jahr rituals in this region or Central Asia after the dissolution of Soviet Union is lacking. Therefore, in this paper, we have tried to document the entire jahr ritual by describing in detail its process and the conditions and to contribute to the accumulation of empirical studies. In addition, this paper will also discuss how the ritual was established as a disease treatment, its condition under the Soviet regime, and the situation of the ṣūfīs of the region.

Water is considered a "great teacher" among the people of Central Asia. The population of the region reveres water as a great value, and not just as an "important mineral" or "resource of life". For example, in the Fergana Valley, water is revered not only as a means of quenching the thirst of people, animals and plants but also as a means of life, life expectancy, purification and redemption of sin. A number of historical and artistic works dedicated to water have also been created.
