Mari Hatavara
I am Chair Professor of Finnish Literature at the University of Tampere. My research interests (and publications) include narrative theory and analysis, free indirect discourse, (unnatural) narrative communication, ekphrasis, fictionality, and the poetics of historical fiction and metafiction. Currently, I am consortium Principal Investigator for the project “The Literary in Life: Exploring the Boundaries between Literature and the Everyday” funded by the Academy of Finland, 2015–2019. I have co-edited Narrative Theory, Literature and New Media. Narrative Minds and Virtual Worlds (Routledge 2015), with Matti Hyvärinen, Maria Mäkelä and Frans Mäyrä; The Travelling Concepts of Narrative (Benjamins 2013), with Matti Hyvärinen and Lars-Christer Hydén; Natural and Unnatural Narratives. Directions of Postclassical Narratology (Gaudeamus 2010, in Finnish), with Pekka Tammi and Markku Lehtimäki.
