After detecting behavioral problems in an early childhood education classroom and verifying the importance of intervening at early ages, we propose the design of an intervention plan through an educational proposition to modify the problematic behaviors. This proposition is focused on developing standards of conduct through computational thinking using robotics. Firstly, needs were identified; then, an educational proposition was implemented; and, lastly, the results were evaluated. For this study, a mixed methodology (quantitative and qualitative) was used. The instruments selected were observation scale, interview and teacher’s diary. The results show a clear improvement of disruptive behaviors. The technology used contributed to the collaborative resolution of the problem, allowing the students to lead such resolution by stimulating their participation and creativity. Thus, it can be asserted that the development of computational thinking through educational robotics is effective...

The use of technologies at home directly influences how children perceive them for their learning at school. Numerous studies have focused on the different ways in which digital technologies are used at home and in schools. These studies attempt to explain how previous experience and knowledge can be linked to the use of technologies at school, the differences between home and school literacies, or how socio-economic status influences the availability of technology in these socio-educational institutions. All of them show that technology has become part of children's lives. Consequently, the aim of this study was to obtain information about the habits, norms and use of technology by children aged 2-6 years in their homes and the differences between genders. To this end, a validated questionnaire was created. A total of 1016 parents completed the questionnaire. The results show the most used technologies, the time of use and whom they are used with, as well as the rules imposed a...

The present work shows, for the first time, the application of laser ablation connected to inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA-ICP-MS) to the localized quantitative analysis of inclusions in polymeric industrial films. The multielemental mapping capabilities of LA-ICP-MS has allowed to chemically examine unique defects appeared during the plastic processing. This analytical tool is perfectly suited to detect elements such as Al, Mg, Zr, Ti, Cr, P, Pb, Sb, Zn, and Si in those inclusions. A method for multielemental quantitative analysis of these defects has been developed in the present work. The profiling for more than 100 different defects in three samples has demonstrated that more than 50% of these inclusions contain aggregates of some of the aforementioned elements. Therefore, the distribution of elements used as additives or present in catalysts must be carefully controlled during the production of polymeric films in order to avoid degradation in their performance.
A total sample consumption system (hTISIS) was used for the first time to evaluate the plasma spatial ion profile for ethanolic samples in ICP-MS.

In the present work, 38 elements were quantified in the different fractions generated by applying amateur winemaking methods. Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry was used as detection technique. Grapes were analyzed and separate metal profiles were also obtained for the skin and seeds. Additional vinification fractions included musts before and after the fermentation process. Meanwhile, solid fractions corresponded to the so-called hat, pressed pomace and the lees obtained after gravitational settling at the tank bottom. Wine was further analyzed. The obtained results revealed a different repartition depending on the particular element and winemaking solid and liquid fraction evaluated. The studies included vinification in presence and in absence of added yeast and grape geographical origin. Principal component analysis helped to discriminate among fractions and to determine the critical elements behaving differently. Finally, a mass balance allowed to unequivocally detect ...

A novel extraction method was developed, optimized, and validated for the elemental analysis of organic samples. The method, called aerosol-phase extraction (APE), is based on nebulization of the extracting aqueous solution (0.1 mol·L-1 nitric acid) on the sample. Extraction was performed at the interface of generated extractant droplets as they entered into contact with the samples. Afterward, the phases were allowed to separate and Ca, K, Na, and Mg were determined in aqueous phase by means of inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES). Measurement of aerosol characteristics demonstrated that a water-in-oil emulsion was generated. Therefore, once the aqueous solution was dispersed into the sample, the phases spontaneously separated. Furthermore, the interfacial specific surface area exhibited values on the order of 1 m2·mL-1, hence enhancing the extraction kinetics over conventional extraction methods. Key variables affecting the extraction yield were the n...

A proof of concept study involving the online coupling of automatic dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP OES) with direct introduction and analysis of the organic extract is herein reported for the first time. The flow-based analyzer features a lab-in-syringe (LIS) setup with an integrated stirring system, a Meinhard nebulizer in combination with a heated single-pass spray chamber, and a rotary injection valve, used as an online interface between the microextraction system and the detection instrument. Air-segmented flow was used for delivery of a fraction of the nonwater miscible extraction phase, 12 μL of xylene, to the nebulizer. All sample preparative steps including magnetic stirring assisted DLLME were carried out inside the syringe void volume as a size-adaptable yet sealed mixing and extraction chamber. Determination of trace level concentrations of cadmium, copper, lead, and silver as model analyte...

ABSTRACT A new method based on the use of a high-temperature single-pass spray chamber and the injection of a sample plug into an air carrier gas stream was developed to mitigate non-spectral interferences caused by inorganic concomitants and to reduce plasma loading in inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The evaluated sample introduction systems were a 10 cm3 inner-volume single-pass spray chamber (also called the Torch Integrated Sample Introduction System, TISIS) with and without heating and a cinnabar spray chamber, taken as a reference device. The temperature of the spray chamber was raised up to 350 °C. Sensitivity, memory effects, limits of detection and non-spectral interferences were evaluated. The results proved that the higher the chamber walls temperature, the higher the peak height and the lower the memory effects. The single-pass spray chamber heated at 350 °C provided lower limits of detection (0.3–2.3 μg l−1) compared with the reference spray chamber (1–33 μg l−1) and a significant reduction of matrix effects. This device was successfully applied to the analysis of environmental certified reference materials, such as marine sediments and animals. The calibration curve was obtained by modifying the mass of the analyte injected, thus requiring only one standard solution. The results were also compared with those obtained by external calibration (both at room temperature and at 350 °C) and single-point standard addition. The analytical bias was lower than 5%, showing that this sample introduction system is adequate to remove the matrix effects due to inorganic concomitants, allowing the accurate analysis of environmental samples.

ABSTRACT A heated Torch Integrated Sample Introduction System (hTISIS) has been applied to the analysis of petroleum products and biofuels through Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS). Three elements have been determined because of their importance in the petroleum industry: V, Ni and Mn. Sample injection has been accomplished by means of the introduction of a low sample volume (2.5 [small mu ]l) into an air carrier stream. A peak has been thus obtained. Two sets of samples have been selected: five solvents (xylene, kerosene, nonane, undecane and hexadecane) and five real samples (biodiesel, diesel, kerosene, superethanol and gasoline). The chamber temperature has been varied when introducing either solvents or real samples. In both cases it has been found that sensitivity peaked at 110 [degree]C heating temperature. However, non-spectral interferences caused by differences in the matrix composition became less severe as this variable was increased and they were virtually eliminated at temperat

MOOCs are configured as one of the technologies that have been gaining ground in the educational field as a new approach in virtual education. In the past few years, its presence in educational institutions has increased. In addition, the level of research and publications that revolve around these technological developments is increasing. In this sense, this research focuses on the design and validation of the structure, content and tasks of a t-MOOC for the development of the Digital Competence of non-university teachers based on the DigCompEdu Framework of the European Union. For this, a Delphi-type validation design is established using an expert coefficient that has the participation of 191 people. The results demonstrate the validity of the training proposal, as well as the uniformity of criteria of the experts. In this sense, the application and benefits of t-MOOCs as tools for competence development are discussed.

The environmental impact produced by digital technologies is one of the fundamental contents to be developed by teachers of the 21st century. Different investigations raise the need to redesign education towards sustainable models and promote a critical look at digital technologies. The main objective of this manuscript is to design a valid, reliable and useful scale to measure self-perceived teacher digital competence regarding the eco-responsible use of technologies. The instrument has been designed based on a detailed analysis of the main frameworks for the development of digital competence in Europe: INTEF and DigCompEdu. A content validation process has been followed through the expert judgment method. Subsequently, its reliability and validity are estimated using structural equation modeling techniques. The results obtained guarantee the reliability and validity of the model. Therefore, the need to establish environmental teacher training plans and more awareness about the eco...

The scarce presence of technologies at the early childhood education level today is a cause for worry. This study aims to provide information on the training of future early childhood education teachers and their relationship with technologies. The work is based on a pretest–posttest methodology through a cross sectional descriptive study. The sample is made up of 535 4th year students of the Degree in Early Childhood Education at the University of Seville. Descriptive and contrast analyses were performed as well as contrast statistics and effect size. The results show that the training received by the students was a key element to improve self-perception of digital competence. There were statistically significant changes between before and after receiving the training. The changes produced always meant an improvement in the students’ self-perception. In the study of their profiles, relevant changes were also identified. Whereas before training subjects were grouped into newcomer an...
