Simple space does not mean scanty design, conversely, simple design in the heritage area consists profound meanings and reflects the original aesthetic value of that space. The design of shophouse as a formation is simple raw building, contained three to four main zones. While, the interior space of shophouse reflects the value of community and rich culture by using simplicity as a factor to present the complex feelings and meanings in one place. Georgetown is the capital city of Penang, Malaysia, which populated by a harmonized mixture of communities, this mix-culture affects the architecture and interior style of the city. As a result, eclectic architecture style created and become an icon of Georgetown. Therefore, it's listed as a World Heritage City in 2008 by UNESCO. The current research is to clarify the relationship between simplicity and aesthetic in the interior design of heritage buildings. Thus, the study is a qualitative mode, including structured interview, the responders were the users, owners and staff of coffee shops in heritage shophouse. As well as, observation, behavioural mapping is used to collect the data for the surfaces and users' reaction. Aesthetic value does not depend on the complex design, high quality material and form. Good places should be simply understood by the high familiarity value. Additionally, shaped great space should have harmonized value between users' needs and identity of that space.

Using objects or shapes related to specific culture, function, brand, or designer in interior design processes should follow limited rules. The interior design process is not collecting of objects and symbols inside a space. Some interior design projects reflect false and distorted meaning which lead to draw false mental image about the identity of space on the recipients' minds. This paper addresses the significance of natural lighting and solar control in building design, m... more This paper addresses the significance of natural lighting and solar control in building design, mainly focusing on housing buildings at the University of Mosul. The effective utilization of natural lighting is crucial for achieving optimal thermal performance and environmentally successful buildings. Various design and natural factors influence the lighting levels within interior spaces, necessitating the critical process of controlling natural lighting aspects and providing appropriate shading based on space requirements. Among the factors that pose environmental and thermal challenges for buildings are the direction, area, and shape of windows. Utilizing solar control and shading methods becomes imperative to mitigate these challenges and enhance energy efficiency. Shading plays a vital role in building cooling systems, as it helps reduce direct solar heat gain and prevents excessive solar radiation from entering the building during different seasons. Additionally, it offers the potential for harnessing natural light to achieve self-heating benefits during colder seasons. Hence, this research focuses on developing a simple and effective solar control mechanism using solar shades for university buildings within the University of Mosul. By employing qualitative analysis and simulations, the study explores the optimal design and physical characteristics of solar shades to ensure suitable thermal comfort and address the facade treatment of university buildings. The research findings highlight that models 1 and 2 of louvre designs demonstrate the most effective performance, providing comfortable thermal conditions and optimal lighting and significantly reducing energy consumption by 65%. This study underscores the importance of natural lighting and solar control strategies in building design and offers practical solutions for improving thermal comfort and energy efficiency.

Unfortunately, this space is the results of designing the building. However, designers should give more effort to design these spaces according to users and function needs. The architecture and interior design linked the users' needs to space. The study focuses on the interior space of architectural engineering departments, university of Mosul as a case study. The research question of the current study is "what are the sustainable factors that can make the interior space liveable in the educational spaces". Therefore, the study approach is quantitative, using survey and VGA image analysis. The sampling follows the random method for those students that used the space. The results show that factors are related to the environment and design systems. The area and volume are not important to the students. However, the interior design elements and movement system show the high impact on users' behaviour. The architectural space should respond to the needs of the function and users to create a liveable space within educational space.

Primary survey done for some commercial centres and Malls in Pulau Penang to identify the problem, which marked deformation identity problem of place by similarity in general shape, colours, finishing techniques, and methods of product presentation. Two stages of variables were found; both types have secondary variables associated with identity of place, finishing materials, forms, and liveable variables linked with users psychologically. Research design depends on the analysis of qualitative by questionnaire for daily users. In addition to graphical analysis made for selected designs to find similarities and elements of distortion identity of place. Other results show that the use of colours and finishing materials as well as ways of goods presentation are the most important elements of the place identity deformation. Similarity makes interior as copies affected the perception process.

Many important space that represents the architecture and interior design identity, which is considered interface cultural cities, like shops, restaurant, café shop, and gallery spaces. The first impression to the users when they moved through this area that any shape, element, or formal relationships used in interior space are represents the identity of place, it is an identity icon of that city or culture. The interior design has to follow the clear rule to modify and re-shape the historical or traditional shape elements in order to preserve the cultural heritage and architecture identity of the place. Interior space is an assemblage for symbols shapes, which address the users' minds to realize the real identity of the places as macro levels. Quantitiative methodology was used geometric analysis and variables. the Focusing on related studies shows main variables, were identified to design a measurement table. These variable considered the main lines to interior design by simplicity way. In the methodology part, After making a geometric analysis of selected samples from the shopping street as a case study, matching processes were done by the variable table (check list) to check the value of matching between simplicity variable and simplicity design. Re-shaped process will be done for the same sample, by modelling and abstracted the main shapes and make the questioner for normal users of retail space to measure the value of editing the original shape by aesthetic and originality values.
