It’s currently the subject of a French-Croatian international program involving the territorial museum of Porec (Zavicajni Porestine muzej), the French School of Rome and the research center C. Jullian (Aix-Marseille University - CNRS) with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia and the French Foreign Ministry. Since 1994, the excavations led by an international team have unearthed a large workshop complex mainly dedicated to the production of oil amphoras Dressel 6B for export. This workshop was the property of senators and emperors. It was continuously occupied from the frst century AD to the fourth century AD, before being gradually dismantled, and then completely abandoned in the late ffth century AD. New research conducted on the Loron promontory corresponding to imperial property, have located a...

Under the waters of St. Gervais Bay, the trenches made on the Structure A revealed that the north wall, at least, was built on land even though it is now under 3 meters of water. Near the beach, a new structure was unveiled: a typical Roman foundation made of hundreds of wooden poles, well dated from the first century AD. On the other hand, the geophysical survey carried out on the humid hinterland gives an image of a canal. Even if we are not yet able to say if it could be the one that was dug by the General Marius, these results, superimposed on the previous elements of pedestrian survey, indicate that we are perhaps on the trail of Fossae Marianae.

Four themes will be debated : 1. Vegetal economy ; 2) Craft, fuel and production ; 3) Archaeometry for the study of land resources ; 4) Modelling. The summer school will benefit of the multidisciplinary researches led in Croatia, France and Spain, and will include a practical approach, field visits and archaeological experimentation. Bringing together different skills and approaches will set up a creative environment and boost scientific collaborations between the participants.
