Stefano Converso
Stefano Converso (1975), is an Architect based in Rome. He got his PhD in the International Program “Villard D’Honnecourt”, lead by IUAV University of Venice and conducted partly in the United States, where he was Visiting Scholar at Columbia University. His activity of investigation of the early experimentations of digital instruments to advanced experiences of linking design with CAM Manufacturing and performance simulation lead him to be Visiting Research at the Product Architecture Lab of the Stevens Institute of Technology, lead by professor John Nastasi. He published monographs on the activity of New York based office of SHoP Architects (book title: SHoP Works) and later on a series of pioneering experiences of link between digital design and fabrication (book title: Digital Design for Construction). He also participated as invited speaker and lecturer to several international conferences and organized design workshops in Italy and abroad that established him as a recognized expert in the field of Digital Design and BIM. His interest for a fully integrated design process lead him to become Project Manager of the successful participations of Roma Tre University to the Solar Decathlon international competition for Energy Efficient Housing prototypes in 2012, when the project, called "Med in Italy" won several subcontests and in 2014, when the project called "RhOME" was awarded with the first prize. In the recent years he was involved as designer in projects of increasing complexity, still supported by an advanced use of digital tools to support an architectural design able to embed direct information on fabrication and performance. Among them: the constructive design for the complex geometry of the Main Auditorium of “The Cloud Conference Center”, completed in 2017 in Rome, and the Architectural Design for the LEED certified new Office Campus of TIM in Acilia, Rome, also completed.
