This article focuses on the figure and works of Angelo Zambardo (16th- 17th century), a friar of the Congregation of the Hermits of Blessed Peter of Pisa and a minor poet, recorded in poetry anthologies and bibliographies either as being from Ferrara or Padua, in fact confounding his identity as two individuals with the same name. In addition to the few documents available, his biography can be enlightened through his book inventory, now collected in the manuscript Vat. Lat. 11292, drawn up by himself and sent to comply with the request of the Congregation of the Index of Forbidden Books as he was based in the convent of S. Maria della Rosa in Ferrara (1600). This source makes possible to explore the workshop of a minor poet of the sixteenth century and to reconsider his literary production – comprising religious, encomiastic and satirical rhymes, amongst which the previously unknown Betulia liberata. Iudith, printed in Padua in 1590.

Agostino Maria Molin’s marks in books: invented writings for personal use? The paper shows the first results of a research carried out on some peculiar notes found in Agostino
Maria Molin’s books, Carmelite Sacred Scripture scholar, librarian, bibliographer, Professor of Biblical exegesis and Theology in Carmelite schools until 1810, then in the Patriarchal Seminary of Venice (1819-1821) and finally in the Episcopal Seminary of Osimo. The notes are written in two different cryptographic systems, probably invented by Molin, and they appear in a limited
number of books, mostly manuscripts and autographs from his own library. At the moment, the research allows to identify the probable linguistic and graphic models used by Molin, like some oriental languages (e.g.: Hebrew, Syriac, Armenian) that the scholar studied during his education at the Seminary in Padua and, obviously, in the years he spent in the vibrant environment of Venice. The paper analyses the characteristics of the two graphic systems, searching for their possible models taken from Molin’s education and from the books of his rich library.

«Of libraries and librarians». Warnings by Agostino Maria Molin (1830, cod. Barb. lat. 3398) · This article presents the booklet that Agostino Maria Molin composed in 1830 in response to the question of an unknown correspondent. In the text, the Venetian scholar examines the skills and functions of the ‘perfect librarian’, as well as the issues related to the setting up and management of a book collection, giving life to a small manual that ranks as a personal reflection on the library activity that it carried out and at the same time the paratexual element of the catalogues it realized.

The essay offers the preliminary study about the book collection of the Carmelite Agostino Maria Molin (Venice 1775 ca. - Osimo 1840). The joint examination of the available documentary sources, including the autograph catalog of the collection, and above all the marks in books that emerged from the copies that belonged to him, and which are currently kept at the Palazzo Campana Historical Library in Osimo
(Ancona), allow to outline the paths through which Molin came into possession, making us glimpse the unknown profile of bibliophile and collector.

The essay traces the biography of Father Cesare Majoli (1746-1823), naturalist and librarian, with particular reference to the decade he spent in Rome. In this city he was able to refine the technique of drawing and engraving, wich will allow him to realize the images for his editions. The relationship with books is presented trought the analysis of the unpublished manuscript catalog Majoli relized for the library of the monastery of S. Onofrio al Gianicolo. This document represents his most meaningful experience as a librarian before his activity at the public library of Forlì.
