The Master Thesis addresses both the formation of and the change in Russia's self-perception in the years 1812–2012 through the lens of the history of the Russian National Cathedral. In the framework of the longue durée approach, the thesis asks a two-fold question: What role has the national Cathedral of Christ the Savior played in the formation of Russian (national) identity? And how does the Cathedral mirror the dynamics of identity formation? The main questions discussed deal with the following issues: the origin of the Cathedral, the newly re-established tradition, the official concept of Russian nationality and the use of architecture as a vehicle of political message. The destruction of the Cathedral under the Soviet regime and the attempt to replace it with a new "symbol" is mentioned. Film vznikl během 1540 kilometrů dlouhe poutě v ramci projektu “Stěhovavi historici uměni”. Rozviji temata spojena se středověkými poutěmi s středověkým uměnim a zaroveň představuje ctyřměsicni zkusenost poutě dvanacti soucasných studentů a badatelů.

Cilem teto konference je rozsiřit diskusi o ruske emigraci o mezioborove spektrum: dopad emigrace na vědu i uměni bude zkouman v sirsim smyslu prostřednictvim disciplin jako jsou biologie, dějiny uměni, filozofie nebo literarni věda. Hlavni pozornost nebude věnovana pouze jednotlivým osudům, pravě naopak. Důraz bude kladen na otazku, jak tyto dilci momenty vytvořili prostor pro nove dialogy, ktere formovaly kulturni, vědeckou a uměleckou sferu se stale výrazným dopadem na dnesni svět. Cilem konference je tedy analýza vzajemných transformacnich ucinků elitni emigrace a narodnich a nadnarodnich struktur.
