The study examined the relationship between perceived self-efficacy of pre-service basic science teachers and teaching practice performance in colleges of education in Delta State, Nigeria. One hundred and twelve (112) pre-service basic science teachers were selected from two colleges of education in Delta State. Forty-six (46) from College of Education l (COEI) while sixty-six (66) from College of Education II (COEII). The study tested three hypotheses derived from the three research questions. The independent variable was perceived self-efficacy of the pre-service basic science teachers, the dependant variable was teaching practice while the moderating variables were two colleges of education of the pre-service science teachers. The instruments used were “Teaching Practice Assessment Score Instrument (TPASI)” and the “Pre-Service Science Teachers Perceived Self Efficacy (PSTPSE)” with thirty (30) questions. Person correlation was used to test the hypotheses. The results showed tha...

This study investigated the influence of selected positional and psychological factors on evening-class participants in two states in Nigeria: North-Central and North-Western states. * The study also described the motivational bases of their participation. It was regarded as necessary to duplicate this study and know whether or not the characteristics and motivation of participants in the two states are similar. This should be important to researchers since comparisons between two states might lead to valid generalisations. The practical value of this study is that it revealed some characteristics of the people who attend this kind of class. The exploration of the problem of participation at a multivariate level was suggested.

This study investigated the level of concept attainment of selected energy concepts for possible inclusion in the Nigerian (Bendel State) Primary Science Project (BPSP). Using an experimental design suggested by Solomon (1949), subjects were taught energy concepts at three levels - descriptive, comparative and quantitative. Results showed that levels of concept comprehension were hierarchical with a signficant decrease in achievement from descriptive to comparative and quantitative concepts. The results of this study suggest the need to describe levels of concept for particular grades in the elementary school curriculum and to match curriculum with thinking strategies of children.
