Članek obravnava interpretacijo dediščine z uporabo mitov in pravljic. Besedilo je razdeljeno na dva dela. Prvi del je posvečen interpretaciji dediščine. Drugi del, posvečen vlogi mitov in pravljic, bo objavljen v naslednji številki revije. S pomočjo hermenevtike so pojasnjene razlike med znanstveno in dediščinsko interpretacijo. S hermene...

This article contains an analysis of the pottery finds f r om systematic archaeological excavations in 1993 and a field survey carried out in August 1995. The early Roman material includes pottery with black slips, thin-walled pottery, Po valley sigillata, and forms of early Italic amphorae and grey cooking vessels in an evident prehistoric tradition. African sigillata is well represented among the late pottery, and amphorae are also common. The table ware is mostly of local production and frequently imitates the forms of the sigillata. Judging from the Late Roman imported pottery from the North African province, the settlement was well supplied with food from north African sources, from which the annona - a tax in foodstuffs - was paid.

This article discusses the results of archaeological rescue excavations at Fizine in 1998. The remains of multiphase Roman architecture were documented in a small trench, along with an accompanying stratigraphic sequence containing small material remains. The remains most probably belong to a small settlement with a harbor, which supplements knowledge of the hinterland of Piran in the period between the middle of the 1 st century BC and the late Roman period. The insufficiently documented earliest phase is marked by pottery with a black slip, amphorae. and coarse ware, most probably related to an embankment of massive stones. The walls of a larger structure with accompanying finds belong to the end of the 1 st and the 2 nd centuries. The settlement reached its peak in the period between the 4 th and the first half of the 5 th century, as represented in addition to architecture by the numerous fragments of amphorae and tableware of African production, coins, and shipbuilding and fish...

The article deals with the relationship between the local community, museum collections, collective memory and the cultural landscape. The ICOM Code of Museum Ethics defines a museum collection as a cultural and natural heritage of the communities from which they have been derived. The collections, especially in regional museums, are inextricably linked to the community. The cultural landscape can be read also as a bridge between the society and natural environment. The cultural landscape is vitally connected with a national, regional, local, ethnic, religious or political identity. Furthermore, the cultural landscape is a reflection of the community's activities. Therefore, private collections are the foundation of the collective memory and empower museums for important social tasks. They offer an opportunity for multilayered interpretation of the past and give a possibility for museums to work on the inclusion of vulnerable groups. The collections could be a mediator and uniqu...
