In this experiment we analyzed the seasonal variations in gas exchange rates of dwarf cashew (Anacardium occidentale L.) when exposed to irrigated and rainfed conditions. Full sun and shaded of clones CCP 76 and BRS 189 were monthly assessed for determination of stomata! conductance (g(s)), transpiration rate (E) and photosynthesis (A), internal and external CO(2) (C(i)/C(e)) and leaf temperature. The experiment was carried out between September 2006 and August 2007, at the experimental station of Embrapa Agroindustria Tropical, located at Paraipaba County, state of Ceara, Brazil. In general, the variables A, g(s), E and C(i)/C(e) were affected only in terms of time of year and types of leaves. Light influenced the physiological factors rather than suppression of water. Possibly because the results obtained here are better related to the phenological stages than with the treatments, demonstrating a conspicuous physiological effect of the strength of the drains and the irradiance in ...

In this paper the influence of accumulation and distribution of ions in plant shoots on acclimation to salt stress of cowpea and sorghum plants was studied. The plants were subjected to two treatments: control (nutrient solution without addition of NaCl) and saline (nutrient solution containing 75 mM of NaCl). Sorghum showed a higher tolerance to salt stress in comparison to cowpea, mainly after the 10th day of stress. Cowpea showed higher shoot ion accumulation than sorghum, which behaved as a plant with good capacity of ion exclusion. The higher accumulation of potentially toxic ions in cowpea leaves contributed to the increase in leaf succulence. Although the exclusion or retention of ions observed in stressed plants of sorghum had produced a certain degree of leaf dehydration, it seemed to be a much more efficient mechanism of stress acclimation than the excessive accumulation of ions in leaf tissues of cowpea plants.

The analysis of progress and the yield losses due to melon yellowing, caused by Melon yellowing-associated virus (MYaV), were studied in two melon hybrids (Aclain and Frevo) under natural infection in a commercial field in Russas county, Ceará State (Brazil). Plants were monitored throughout a growing cycle following the incidence of melon yellowing. By the end of the cycle, fruits were harvested, weighted and sampled to estimate the total solid soluble (TSS). The linear, exponential, monomolecular, logistic and Gompertz models were used for examining their suitability in fitting growth data. The monomolecular model attained the best fitness to describe the data for both hybrids according to the coefficient of determination and error mean square, although the Gompertz model also described the data well for the Aclain hybrid. Fruit weight and TSS contents were not affected by melon yellowing in both hybrids.

Macron's winning presidential race yesterday is very important to provoke a debate in transpersonal movement around the world. Here I want to point a couple of reasons. It is inevitable to compare to Trump's ascension in USA. I hope my colleagues in North America take these quickly comments as an invitation to reflect to which direction they think transpersonal movement should take right now. The following statements settle the scenario: 1) French elections were not only about a national issue, but rather a movement spread worldwide of a radical neoliberal offensive which is direct connected to Latin American e Africa. 2) Populism and rage in Marie Le Pen style states a discourse completely opposed to transpersonal principals. And that's why we should be concerned when it takes the shape of a nation's president. 3) Transpersonal movement is about to flourish in the old world and that is an important lesson North Americans should learn. 4) The 'south' countries are now much more important to balance world equilibrium than in ultramarine expansion in 1500's. Starting with the first point: The French election is a response within, for example the prime minister of Holland Mark Rutter, of what Brexit and Trump's election should be taken: a global offensive of neoliberal and conservatory thought in the world. We can have a taste of it in Europe but also in every corner of the world. Dictation is now not only a matter of military force, but also of legally orchestrated flow of institutions: media, legislative, etc. Obviously there is a wide open counterpart to that: social movements (LGBT, students, women, ecology, and so on…). But in fact there is a regression of social rights, and life become uneasier each day. Inequality is a shadow in a world so advanced in techniques of food production for example. The retirement of workers is a nightmare not only in rich countries but now specially in countries like Brazil. For example, lets compare aging and PIB in Brazil and USA. Now population in United States in age of 60 is about 16% (they use 6% of PIB to face that issue) and in Brazil is about 12,5% (and we 11% of PIB, but unfortunately with terrible return to retired population) and the tax in Brazil of elderly increased over the world media. That is just one argument. The neoliberal politics, now taken in extreme by " Le Pen archetype " (a tax driver told he doesn't like Macron, but he fears Le Pen) is oriented to logic of accumulation to few and spoliation of billions. Freud's latest writings pointed out to narcissism of small differences in early 1900's. In a transpersonal cartography we may consider three levels of global consciousness(egocentric, ethnocentric and worldcentric) and agree with Freud saying we can speak on worldcentric view, but we are acting ethnocentric, while economy rules remains egocentric. It is really hard to sleep at night If in your meditation you visualize that 85 people (the most rich in world) have the same money of the 3,5 billion most poor. To view
