ABSTRACT A taxonomic checklist of larval stages of fish species recorded in the Colombian Caribbean is presented, as a product of an extensive literature review of studies on the topic. Eighty five family records included in 21 orders, with a total of 129 species were found. In terms of composition, the order Perciformes has shown the highest number of families (41), genera (66) and species (46). The families Carangidae and Exocoetidae were the richest. In terms of distribution, it was evident a bigger sampling effort in La Guajira, Magdalena and San Andrés y Providencia provinces.

Se describe la importancia del uso de modelos animales para la comprensión del comportamiento humano, se presen-tan los dos grupos de modelos animales y las pruebas más representativas para cada uno de éstos. aBstraCt The aim of this paper is to present a review of commonly used animal models to study anxiety, looking to make a presentation of three instruments used in the laboratory. It describes the importance of using animal models for understanding human behavior; there are two groups of animal models and the most representative tests for each of these. Palabras clave: modelo animal, ansiedad, respuesta condicionada y respuesta incondicionada.

Twenty one abundant and frequent marine fish species of Santa Marta and Tayrona National Natural Park (Colombian Caribbean) were identified as ornamentals with marked value. Species were ranked positively following various criteria, such as if they have been reared in other countries or if they are included in genera or families which have reared, and their adaptability to confinement conditions with the aim of future rearing and reproducing processes. Important information about adaptation to captivity conditions were found for some of these species. Microspathodon crysurus, Coryphopterus personatus, Elacatinus illecebrosus, Stegastes partitus y Serranus tigrinus are proposed as the species that widely fulfill the criteria.

In order to establish the group diversity and to clarify the status of some species, a taxonomic review of the teleostean fishes included in the order Batrachoidiformes (toadfishes) from Colombian waters was made, based on available samples in the main fish collections of the country. The Batrachoidiformes include a single family, Batrachoididae, with three subfamilies (Porichthyinae, Batrachoidinae y Thalassophryninae) in the New World. In Colombia there are five genera deposited in the Colombian Marine Natural History Museum - MHNMC and the referenced collections: Porichthys, Batrachoides, Sanopus, Daector, and Thalassophryne. Those genera include 15 species: P. margaritatus, P. oculellus, P. pauciradiatus, P. plectrodon, B. boulengeri, B. manglae, B. pacifici, B. surinamensis, Sanopus sp., D. dowi, D. gerringi, D. quadrizonatus, T. amazonica, T. maculosa, and T. nattereri. The most representative species of referenced collections because of the number of samples and wide distribut...

Fat talk has been well studied in female peer groups, and evidence suggests it may also be important in family contexts. However, no instrument exists to validly assess fat talk within the family. The purpose of this study was to develop a measure of fat talk within families and to establish its psychometric properties in young adult women. In Study 1, the Family Fat Talk Questionnaire (FFTQ) was developed and exploratory factor analysis suggested a 2-factor structure ("Self" and "Family" fat talk), and strong internal consistency. Study 2 confirmed its 2-factor structure using confirmatory factor analysis. Study 3 demonstrated the construct validity of FFTQ scores, including significant correlations with related constructs and predictable gender differences. Study 4 demonstrated the stability of FFTQ scores over two weeks. Therefore, the FFTQ produces valid and reliable scores of fat talk behaviors both exhibited and observed by young adult women within the fami...

A new species of seven-gilled hagfish Eptatretus astrolabium (Myxinidae) is described from a 400 mm total length female trapped 1 km east from Planet Rock, Astrolabe Bay, Papua New Guinea, at c. 500 m depth. This is the first hagfish species reported from the waters around New Guinea. It can be distinguished from other hagfishes by a combination of characters including seven pairs of gill apertures, three-cusp multicusps on the anterior and posterior rows of cusps, 10 posterior unicusps, 52 total cusps, 18-19 prebranchial pores, five branchial pores, 48-49 trunk pores, 83-84 total pores and no nasal-sinus papillae.
