Along with his brothers DJ and Motorarm, Gimlet was sent by Maximal command to the planet Trius. However, their ship ran into problems and they were forced to land on the nearest planet: Gaia. Evacuating the ship before anybody else could find them, they later ran into the Predacons and Maximals stationed on Gaia in their combined form, Tripledacus. After initially thinking the Maximals were Predacons, they realized their mistake and split into their individual selves, introducing themselves as the Jointrons to the other Maximals. However, the three's eccentric behavior didn't endear themselves to Lio Convoy's group. Unconcerned about this, they sought to use their might to defeat the Predacons and flew out without informing the other Maximals. The Jointrons faced against a Predacon force as Tripledacus and weren't faring well till Lio Convoy, Scuba, and Apache came to add their firepower to the battle. After the Predacons retreated, the Jointrons claimed all the credit. The Combined Giant, Tripledacus
Still intent on handling the Predacons on their own, the Jointrons took over a Maximal shuttle and turned it into a party house, to the annoyance of Apache. Disabling the shields and shooting out a flare to lure the Predacons to their position, they managed to lure in Dirge and Thrust, who left Autoroller backup outside. The two Combatrons were treated to the Jointrons' friendly hospitality—massive amounts of oil that impaired their already poor judgment. Using the excuse that they were bringing oil to the Autorollers, the Jointrons combined into Tripledacus, and, with Lio Convoy's help, chased away the Autorollers. Afterwards, the Combatron duo were forced to surrender—a victory for the Jointrons! The Festive Jointrons
Again eager to take down the Predacons, Gimlet and his brothers went out on patrol for them, coming across a trap that they dumped Tasmania Kid and Diver to check out. Soon, they came across Starscream and BB, who attacked them with a "bacteria bomb" that struck DJ and Motorarm with bacteria that sapped them of energy. The three attempted to combine, but Gimlet's germaphobia prevented any cohesion, and they were left at the mercy of the Predacons. After the other Maximals came to the rescue as the "Jointron II", and Lio Convoy made a speech about how they could overcome this challenge if they shared energy, the Jointrons managed to combine and sent Starscream and BB fleeing. A Fearsome Combination Plan?
On another day, the Jointrons were sent on patrol with Diver and Tasmania Kid, who brought up the question of just who the leader in the trio was. Naturally, each one made a claim for themselves, with Gimlet noting that he was amphibious and kept the beat, among other qualities. Their competition brought them to the attention of the Predacons, who sought to capture the Jointrons to study their combination abilities. To handle the Predacons, the Jointrons took off on their own in a Maximal shuttle, but the intervention of Tasmania Kid caused them to crash. In the following battle, the brothers agreed that whoever was most successful against the Predacons would lead, but they all ended up captured and required the other Maximals to step in and rescue them. Afterwards, they reconsidered their silly argument and combined into Tripledacus to repel the Predacons. Who Is the Leader!?
The Jointrons were left behind on Gaia's eastern continent while Lio Convoy's troop returned to the northern continent. Later, during their patrol of the nearby ocean, they found Bighorn pining for Scylla and agreed to help in the sake of love. As part of a plan where Bighorn would "rescue" Scylla and be hailed as a knight in shining armor, the Jointrons sent a fake letter to Scylla, imploring her to come to Tengu Cliff. When she arrived, expecting Scuba, she was met by the masked Jointrons, who stuffed her into a bag and went off to rendezvous with Bighorn. Their plan hit a snag when they were spotted by Starscream and BB, who fired upon them and Bighorn. The trio were also spotted by Sea Phantom and Terrormander, who realized that they had their teammate. When the furious Scylla informed the Jointrons that she was one of the Space Pirate Seacons, the three agreed to bring her to Lio Convoy to get "credit". Their new plan didn't succeed, as they were soon caught between the Predacons and the Seacons who attacked them before; after dropping Scylla down a hill, they resorted to defending themselves. When the remaining Seacons showed up, the three combined into Tripledacus and fought against God Neptune. With the aid of the other Maximals, the pirate combiner was sent tumbling into the sea, and the Jointrons rejoiced over their "victory" against a quintuple combiner. Face the Setting Sun
While somehow out in Gaia's orbit, the Jointrons fought the Seacons, but their battle was interrupted by the passing teleport gate. Lio Convoy in Imminent Danger! DJ, Gimlet, and Motorarm later tried to deal with the eruptions of Angolmois Energy caused by Nemesis by using boulders to block them. When they came across the other Maximals using cooling rays to freeze the Angolmois Energy, they got the idea to use an iceberg to seal a particular geyser that was threatening a nearby forest. The Great Angolmois Freezing Tactic When the Maximals set up a launch to get to Nemesis, the Jointrons fused as Tripledacus to help hold off the Predacons before they could interrupt the launch. When the tip of the ramp was broken by the Predacons, Tripledacus used his strength to push it back to its original position and let Lio Convoy's Maximals successfully leave Gaia's atmosphere. In peacetime, Gimlet took part in many different sporting events. When war started up again, he continued treating war like a game, keeping track of how many Predacons he defeated. This led his brothers to think he wasn't taking matters seriously, but for Gimlet it was a coping mechanism. Beast Wars Sourcebook #2

2005 IDW continuity
Gimlet was a young Eukarian Transformer; like most Cybertronians who hailed from the colony worlds, he was deeply religious and believed in the divinity of the Thirteen, with he and his friend Bump regularly attending sermons delivered by the Fateweaver Blackarachnia. In the wake of Baron Karza's defeat, Optimus Prime put out a call for all Cybertronians to help keep the peace on Earth, and both Bump and Gimlet, eager to prove themselves, joined the crew of new Autobots—the "Colonist Soldiers"—that had chosen to follow the Prime. Time Will Rust
Though something of a hothead, Gimlet's faith in Optimus Prime and the lineage of the Primes he embodied was resolute, even though Gimlet sometimes wondered why the agnostic Prime shunned the company of the faithful. Primeless, Part 2 To show their devotion to Optimus, Gimlet and the other new colonist recruits modified their own faces with mouthplates so as to better emulate the sacred Prime.
On one of their first missions, the team was sent to Mexico City with Aileron to uphold the Tyrest Accord by finding and neutralizing a cache of black-market EDC weapons derived from Cybertronian technology. Their presence sparked an anti-Cybertronian protest that soon degenerated into a riot, and their brief efforts at performing crowd control ended when Midnight Express was wounded by a human wielding one of the weapons they had been sent to find. The situation prompted Optimus to arrive in person with reinforcements—Soundwave, Arcee, and Jazz.
Back aboard Autobot City, the assembled colonists continued to discuss the many feats of Optimus, to the point where their combined adulation exhausted even Aileron. To Walk Among the Chosen
After Optimus Prime made contact with the Junkions, the colonists peppered Optimus with questions about the newcomers when the Autobot leader returned to Autobot City and listened to Soundwave's story about the battle of Junkion during the Great War, with Gimlet telling Slide and Oiler to stow their jokes. A Lonely Pillar on the Plain Gimlet watched as Optimus and Pyra Magna had a heated argument regarding Prime's atheism and his manipulation of the Matrix of Leadership to manipulate the devout. Nevertheless, Gimlet joined his leader on the deck of Autobot City, where he provided security for a summit between the Junkions and human dignitaries. Dance Among the Shadows
When the Junkions betrayed the alliance by unleashing a school of Sharkticons on the assembled dignitaries, Gimlet took part in the efforts to repulse the aliens, watching in awe as Optimus ordered Metrotitan to transform and seize the Junkion vessel. Future Glories Lost
The battle dragged on until Optimus, spurred on by a crisis of conscience, ordered his troops to lay down their arms in the hopes of negotiating a new peace between their races. The Junkions agreed to the ceasefire; in the aftermath, the Autobots and Junkions relocated to the Bikini Atoll to start the construction of "Little Cybertron", a new settlement on Earth for the Junkions and their Sharkticons. Feel Safe Without Regrets As work continued apace, Gimlet and the other colonists attended Oiler's funeral, though this gesture did little to comfort Oiler's grieving sister Slide. The Next Day, and the Next After a few days, the colonists became bored with the work and tired of the eccentric Junkions. After another's day work, they rolled off to the beach to relax... and unwittingly left Slide, who could no longer transform, behind. What It's Really Like
As Earth prepared to formally join the Cybertronian Council of Worlds, the colonists joined Earth's new ambassador Marissa Faireborn aboard Autobot City as she and her retinue traveled to Cybertron via Space Bridge for the proceedings. Baron Ironblood's subsequent attack on Iacon severed the space bridge link between the two worlds; believing that the humans had killed Optimus Prime, Gimlet prepared to stomp on a G.I. Joe support unit until Soundwave talked him down. Aileron took command and—needing to keep the colonists occupied—brought them with her to Oaxaca to find Jazz, Primeless, Part 1 who had gone missing after a disastrous television interview. What It's Really Like The Autobots were attacked by more humans wielding Cybertronian weaponry, forcing the Transformers to retreat to the city limits and argue with each other. As the rookies tracked Jazz north, Gimlet began to wonder if the embittered Slide had a point about Optimus Prime's recent indecisiveness regarding Cybertronian weapons... a question that never received an answer after Gimlet and Aileron found Jazz, pinned down by more human insurgents. Primeless, Part 1
After a brief standoff, the Autobots were able to intimidate most of the humans into leaving except one, who, with some persuasion, arranged to take the Autobots to meet with his suppliers in a nearby ghost town. The perpetrators were revealed to be none other than the Decepticons Frenzy and Rumble, who had been siphoning guns off Sanctuary Station and selling them to make a dime on the side. Though Gimlet was all to eager to throw the two 'Cons behind bars, Aileron realized that any further actions would jeopardize an already fragile political situation and they would have to cover up the situation entirely. Taking custody of the guns, Aileron brought the colonists and Decepticons back with her to Autobot City. Primeless, Part 2
When the crisis had passed and the space bridge had returned to functionality, Gimlet and the other colonists went to Cybertron to attend Sideswipe's funeral. The Dead Come Home, Part 1 Shortly afterwards, he and the other colonists returned to Autobot City. During the opening of an Ore-13 mine in Kentucky, Gimlet and the others argued with Slide about Prime's motives. Surfeit of Primes Metrotitan soon took his leave to deal with a burgeoning crisis on Cybertron and spacebridged away; The Ground with no way to keep track of the situation on Cybertron, the colonists retreated back to Little Cybertron to wait for orders. Soon enough, the Junkions informed them that Cybertron had lost contact with Roulette's homeworld of Velocitron. Circuit's broadcast from Cybertron brought even worse news: Velocitron had been destroyed by an unknown force, as had Devisiun and even Gimlet's homeworld of Eukaris. When his report concluded with information that Prime planned on sacrificing Caminus to defeat the threat, Slide announced that it was time to end Optimus Prime's reign. Unstopped and Unstoppable
To show humanity that they hadn't abandoned their comrades, the way Prime seemingly had, Slide led her team aboard Sky Lynx to rescue Jazz from G.I. Joe captivity, but was unprepared for resistance, compounded by the Dinobots joining the battle to defend Trypticon from the colonists. Gimlet came under fire from Mainframe, and in frustration he smashed Mainframe's VAMP, fatally wounding its driver. A horrified Gimlet realized what losing his temper had done—and in that moment, he was sliced in half by a berserk Slug, killing him. Time Will Rust
Shortly afterwards, Soundwave glimpsed Gimlet's spirit as the Decepticon used the Enigma of Combination to assist Optimus Prime in his battle against Unicron. Ceremony

Beast Wars Telemocha Series
- ID number: TM-12
- Release date: July ??, 1998
- Released in the fifth wave of the Beast Wars Telemocha Series (and the only item in said wave), this bizarrley-sold-as-a-Predacon release of Gimlet is an extensive redeco of the figure above, with a more "realistic", desaturated color scheme to better blend the figure with the other toys in the line, which got paint jobs hewing very closely to the Mainframe models of the CGI show's cast.
- This figure lacks the original release's "Triple Blaster" missile launcher, due to DJ and his "Seven-Year Swords" not being released in this line at all. It also has the robot hips swapped from left to right, though they are easily flipped and the reversal only affects how tightly the legs tuck into the lobster mode. He also lacks a rub symbol.
- Gimlet comes with a DVD featuring the Japanese dub of the Beast Wars episode "The Spark"...an episode (and show) that the character was never featured in.
Merchandise

He came with stickers for his chest and beast legs, and also came with a stick of gum.
Notes
- Like many Japanese Beast Wars characters, Gimlet has a vocal tic in the form of a word or phrase he ends every sentence with. In his case, he chants variations of "muchas" (ムチャス muchasu) and "mucho" (ムチョ). He also seems to be fond of shouting "tequila" (テキーラ tekīra) and "margarita" (マルガリータ marugarīta).
- Gimlet's IDW appearance is colored after his Telemocha Series figure, probably due to that figure being the only one pictured on this page at time of publication.
