The publication of a book by Peter Boomgard that was lifted from a doctoral dissertation at Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam in 1989 contributed new knowledge about the socio-economic history and demographics of the Indonesian population, especially Java in the 19th century for a period of 85 years. Specifically in this dissertation, authoritative sources obtained Boomgard conducted his research directly in Indonesia with the help of other scientists such as Peter Carey, Louis Fresco and so on. Boomgard also conducted his research directly through the National Archives and Library as well as books or data that had discussed the demographics of the previous Javanese population. The original title of this dissertation is Children of the Colonial State: Population Growth and Economic Development in Java, 1795-1880.
