AbstractParental involvement is what parents do to improve their children's educational activities at home and emphasize the communication with teachers about their children's school success. The purpose of the research was to investigate the extent of parental involvement and its impact on their achievement at elementary level. The sample consisted of 600 parents of 600 class 8th children enrolled in public and private school systems in District Lahore. A survey was conducted by PIP Questionnaire(Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler, 2005). F or achievement score PEC's results of class 8th were collected .The analysis was done by applying t- test and regression. The result of the study indicated the high involvement of parents in their children 's education irrespective of school type but achievement scores of private school children were high. It is concluded that parental involvement with their children's schooling does impact positively on their academic achievement. Keywords: Parental Involvement, Achievement, Public School, Private School, PECIntroductionParental Involvement traditionally gained much consideration in education. In this contemporary era, as several school-improvement plans have pursued to increase student learning. As child moves from infant to toddler and then to pre-schooler, he/she leams to be able to read, write, listen and speak (Oludipe, 2009). The influence of Parental Involvement (PI) in a child's growth and development is generally accepted.According to No Child Left behind Act (U.S. Department of Education, 2001 ), "the participation of parents in regular, two- ways and meaningful communication involving academic learning and other school activities is called parental involvement", endorsing:"(i) a vital and fundamental role in facilitating the children learning is played by their parents.(ii) Motivation should be there to involve parents actively in the schooling of children.(iii) The parents equally share responsibility in their child's education and are included, as rightly, in decision making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child".Hoover-Dempsey and Sandler (1995) stated that Parental Involvement consisted of two types of activities, home-based activities and school-based activities. Their model (2005) clearly pointed out that parents consider themselves in a difficult condition, when they recognized that schooling of their children is dependent upon the information, capabilities, and realization of security that they can be successful in school. In Bouffard and Weiss (2008) views, Parental Involvement can be defined as direct effort provided by the parent, in order to surge educational outcomes of their children. This definition indirectly mentions an education production function, and makes parental involvement one of its points of view. The broad perspective embraced here reflects the meaning of family involvement by the Harvard Family Research Project, one of the renowned research groups. Their definition includes all activities by parents that are purposefully "linked to learning". In Harvard family research project (Caspe, 2007) found out considerable result evidence has supported the importance of family involvement in the elementary school years, when this involvement is assessed, it has been demonstrated that family involvement can result in success at school. This can be further strengthened through family involvement, by matching the child's developmental needs, the parent's attitudes, conduct, school's expectations and care.Christenson and Reschly (2010 ) discussed that there are four common types of PI which are related to "Parental Involvement in school, at home, Parental Involvement in school and learning, and Parent participation in school activities".According to Caspe, Lopez, and Wolos (2007) during elementary schooling children undergo important developmental changes like logical reasoning, adaptability to their environment, and mannerism. …

The aim of present research is to study the fluctuation in prospective teachers Dispositions of Instructional Planning and Strategies (DIPS), during the course of teaching practice activity of four week duration with an underlying assumption that each week of the teaching practice takes turns, and so can intervene and may cause change. Teaching dispositions are the set of positive perceptions about self as able to teach, learners as capable to learn or can be made, and teaching context as favorable for teaching. Under study DIPS are pre-specified in National Professional Standards for School Teachers (NPST) in Pakistan. Teaching practice, thinking as most important constituent of teacher education, a phase for transition of, theory into practice, fantasy into reality, has been focused in present research. The survey method using DIPS scale, including 22 items against six point Likert- type of scale, validated in Pakistani context, was used. The subjects of the study were the 38 prospective teachers of MA Education programs, of a prestigious public sector [1] university in Lahore, divided into two equal groups; one teaching in public schools and other in private school. The findings for repeated measures taken in five phases; one in base line phase before teaching practice and four phases afterwards, in each week of the activity, revealed that irrespective of the setting- public or private- the magnitude of dispositions raised in first phase as compared to baseline phase, significantly dropped in second, slightly raised in third and finally fell in last phase in fourth week.   The initial magnitude of baseline phase was not re-gained in the end and thus no development, though declined, was found. Keywords: Dispositions of Instructional Planning and Strategies, Prospective Teachers, Teaching Practice.

Education refers to a process of getting or gaining knowledge by enriching and broadening the vision of not only one's surrounding but of the entire world as well. We might have heard this phrase so many times that ‘The world is now just one click away, which clearly explains and defines the phenomenon of a globalized and interconnected world where people are connected with one another via numerous emerging technologies. These information technologies have flooded information from one nook (one specified area) to the remotest corner of the world. Perraton (1995) defined distance learning as “an educational system in which an important proportion of teaching conducted by someone removed in space and/or time from learner.”

Differentiation strategies face higher uncertainty and dynamism because of design and functionality of their service in higher education. This is closely related with contextual knowledge and neoliberal approach. Researchers provide the contextual knowledge of neoliberal approach in Pakistan and state of social justice regarding higher education in the country. Neoliberal approach in education has been identified as a new trend in developing countries. Business approach in education has started treating education as a commodity and students as a costumer. Knowledge-based economy is one of the strongest factors influencing the neoliberal approach in higher education. There are certain circumstances for adaptation of this approach in higher education; however, the intellectual community needs to be aware of the pros of this approach. Humanitarian approach need to be taken care of by the government bodies in higher education. Ethical and leadership programs based on agile management ma...
