Abstract

1,217,951. Transformers. VILLAMOSIPARI KUTATO INTEZET. 4 Jan., 1968 [5 Jan., 1967], No. 593/68. Heading H1T. A system acting as a static capacitive load comprises in combination a polyphase transformer 8 and a polyphase double fed cascade machine having two non-mutually inductive primary windings 11, 13 and two non-mutually inductive secondary windings 21, 23, the primary windings being connected to a supply system and the secondary windings being shortcircuited with one another through the secondary windings of the polyphase transformer. The transformer ratio of the windings of transformer 8 is arranged so that the primary windings 11 and 13 are over-excited. The amplitude and character of the reactive load may be varied by altering the voltages fed to the various primary windings individually or in common by regulator 90. The cascade machine may or may not have an air gap and the iron body may have a variety of shapes. It may comprise two coaxial cylindrical members of non-circular cross-section with winding slots formed in the outer periphery of the inner member, the outer member being a closed yoke without slots. The iron body may have a shape similar to that in rotating machinery or it may be opened out to form a plane. It may further be formed into a tube, the windings then being discoidal and the iron body having a shape similar to that of shell-type transformers.
